(..) I do love it when she goes with french braids and it works. In this case, with the prairie dress it's a great choice.
I sometimes wonder if she will still be wearing prairie dresses at 60 and beyond? I'd love to know her well enough to understand why she makes the fashion choices she does. Of all the royal ladies, her choices seem the most enigmatic to me. But I also like it that she has her own style, even when I don't like it. Because I can always admire a woman who makes her own distinct but consistent style choices!

I also love it when she wears braids, that hairstyle really suits a Nordic princess! I think she looks lovely for this event, the colour of the dress is beautiful.
Mette-Marit has a very distinctive, unique style all of her own and so I tend to judge her individual outfits on their own merits rather than in comparison with other fashion trends.

Is it just the lighting or does he actually have on a black velvet jacket with blue pants/trousers?

I think the velvet jacket is dark blue. Could mistaken though. 🙂

This dress always reminds me of the lanz of Austria nightgowns. Just awful. And it is too tight

The Venice outfit makes her look so frumpy.
She looks about twenty years older than her actual age!

I think with Princess Mette marit , we aren't ever going to have Continuity with her outfits , one minute she looks great next minute its... what is that your wearing , but she is one of my favourite Princesses and what she lacks in her dress sense she makes up in other ways :) .

A very disappointing look IMO. The dress doesn't fit her properly and I find it too casual for the event.

I actually like the dress and the hair-do. Mette-Marit follows definitely her own way of fashion. I seldom get the impression that she wants to impress others with her style but just wants to beherself, for which I like her very much.

I give her tons of credit for doing and dressing exactly how and when she wants to. Almost thumbing her nose at those that don't like. I don't think she cares or wants to appease. When formal or a certain ambiance is required, she comes through brilliantly. Apparently her handsome husband doesn't mind so she certainly is doing something correct. I can't personally say I like the outfit or even those sometime childish braids. But, she does and that is her different style. I tend to applaud her courage in being true to herself.
