She's worn the same outfit at her very first National Day balcony appearance in 2001.

The ensemble looks so much better with that lovely hat she wore in 2001.
I wouldn't mind a repeat; in fact, I wouldn't mind even no hat, as long as she avoided the horrible thing from today.

The expensive ski hat did not add an edgy touch to a boring ensemble. Crown Princess Mette Marit has got nice millinery that would have been a much better choice. The rest of the look is lovely.

Very boring outfit. Also, the hat is horrible!

I don't understand a ski hat/turban with a veil attached; really very noticeable in a bad way. The rest of the outfit leaves a "meh" feeling with me. Now if she wore that perky little hat from 2001, it would have uplifted the outfit somewhat.

The hat doesn't go with the outfit period. All I noticed was the hat.

It is a beanie with a mesh wrap-around and it costs $440. Wow!
At first I thought she had a bandana on!

MM becomes more and more a fashion victim, spending more than she used to earn in a month as a waitress on a beanie hat with a veil. Im not impressed.

Well, she is not a waitress anymore.
I like her outfit and the hat as well. It is very unusual, but it adds something special to her look. The short veil is a very attractive detail. She isn´t afraid of wearing unusual, daring pieces.

Hat/cap (not shire what to call it) with net is a nice idea but I dont get why she had to cover all her ears with it. I think she could've worn it better, made it look much nicer but it went wrong, the navy is great on her BTW.
The coat looks outdated, its one of those coats that dont look good after X amount of years.

Actually I like the outfit and the hat. It is a quite unusual hat. Mette-Marit always had a faible for unusual clothes. I like it.

May 24, 2012 - MM in an olive green skirt suit matched with dark black tights and heels.
Not a bad suit bit its already a bit dark therefore lighter tights would've been ideal IMO.

She's worn this suit during a visit to Uvdal in April 2009.
ADD: and for a county visit in Telemark October 2008

I can get used to that suit; not my favourite cut but not bad either.
But nothing in the world will make me reconcile with such thick tights, especially since it's nearly summer.
The suit could have looked fantastic with sheer tights. I also rather prefer Mette-Marit's hairstyle from 2009; up do looks nicer, though today's hairstyle is nice too.

The suit looks much nicer with hair pulled up like in the above picture. Her hair left open covers the bow/neck tie and make it look messy.
