The shoes look quite similar to the pair Mette-Marit was wearing recently at the state visit form Canada.
They are the same. :flowers:
Both of them have worn these shoes several times.

I prefer the length that Mary wore it, to the length of the dress when it was shown on the runway. I like the colors, but I am not fond of the darker sides.

I agree with you. It looks better the length Mary wore it, and yes the darker sides aren't that appeable. It should have been the the same colour as the front all the way around.

The interesting thing about this Prada dress is it isn't made of real lace but lace print, just like a trompe l'oeil. The black lace is printed onto a beige fabric and then the sides and back of the dress are dyed darker with a brown color. The dress came in long sleeves, short sleeves, capped sleeves (like Princess Mary) and spaghetti-straps (actress Diane Lane wore this). The black lace pattern is exclusively Prada's though and there are dresses that were made with this black lace for Fall 2008 collection. I got to try on the short sleeves one and it is really beautifully made. It was available for sale at Neiman Marcus last Christmas 2008.

Princess Mary also has another trompe l'oeil style Prada dress - pink one with pleats. The pleats are basically painted on the dress too but they aren't real pleats.

Crown Princess Mary opened an exhibition of Prince Henrik's collection of African art on 30 April 2009:

I like the top and front of this dress, but I am not sure about the sides. It looks like there is extra fabric, or a more opaque-look to the sheer black chiffon overlay. I think it would have looked a bit better if it was more uniform.
I like like it! She always has interesting dresses.
