September 27, 2016 - Mary at a reception at the embassy in Washington DC

A lovely shade of blue but can't tell much about the dress itself. The pumps look to casual for a reception, black would've been a better choice.

Great color but not the design.

Omg! I had totally forgotten. Great eye, Duke!
I still think it's pretty, but not elegant enough...

i liked the deep blue shade and i think the 'jumpsuit' design of the trouser part is interesting. however, i think it doesn't look as elegant or as poised as a dress would. but i like the fit of the upper part and i think overall the design is an interesting twist to the usual 'dress' take.

I do love the color on her, not a fan of the jumpsuit. Would look more elegant if a dress. But the blue is fantastic with her colouring:flowers:

I think the gown is awful. The print is horrible and too much.

I love it with that hairstyle, I tools very retro. What earrings are those

The print of the dress is dreadful. The dress looks very casual next to Frederick's tux. From what I can see, the earrings are lovely though.

A wondered when we would see this dress again. Its a nice dress with a fun colors and print.

dress is not one of my favourites but still ok. good for mary that she can still wear it!

I agree; the dress looks garish and reminds me of those psychedelic prints from the sixties.

Also, why wear a dress with that skirt to a ball? How could she possibly dance in it without tripping, or else tripping her partner?

i am with you. there is something about this print that makes me cringe. i like the cut of the dress though, i think it would be a winner in another pattern/colour that was less distracting. there's too much going on in this one for me.

I think the dress fits her superbly and I like the mix of colors and the way it floats. The print is a bit dated and probably not going to make it into the fashion hall of fame, though. ;)

I like a good non-matching gem with the best of them, but, were these really that aqua and how did that add to the overall look? And with the other jewelry? Really, I feel like I'm missing the point and would love it if someone would clue me in.

I do think her hair was youthful and perfect for the dress/situation. :)

If you watch the video at Billed Bladet, you'll see that it's no problem at all.

well, she had blue and red in her dress, so she was clearly matching her gems to her dress?

The dress is ugly. I hoped to never see it again, but was proven otherwise.

Well, maybe not for Mary, but I know I'd probably break my neck trying to dance in that. (Frederick looks like he has to keep a distance).

Plus, she is sweeping the floor, the dress must be filthy by the end of the evening.

Ya, know I've seen this dress in past and hated it. But these pictures and the video have made me like this outing of the dress. Lovely.

Wow she can sure dance in the dress, they really look like they are having fun. The dress just flatters her figure,,the gathered bodice and fits perfectly, not too tight or,too loose the way most strapless dresses go. It is just figure hugging and then the train comes out t from the rear, just perfect. The print doesn't seem great in a still picture, but in action it is a winner

Mary looked wonderful from head to toe at tonight's Grand Ball :)
I adore her soft elegant hair updo with soft curls. And the gown... it moves so exquisitely! (se the video)

And it's only a plus to have Frederik by her side :)

I loved how the dress moved and it's obvious that Fred and Mary are both used to dancing with such dresses. As Mary moved around and danced, that dress was a knock-out and the earrings are amazing.

They looked to be having so much fun together. Perhaps the earrings were to pick up Fred's lovely blue tux?

that tone of green really works well on Mary.

In the third picture, the man at lower left center with his hand by his face grinning at Freddie who is smiling at Mary.:blush:
