This cape would have done the job much better, imo.

I agree, the velvet cape it more elegant in cut, colour and style although I have seen photos of her with the cape looking both magenta and purple. I would love to see the actual colour.
The same happened with the silver ensemble which, in many photos looked brownish grey. Not nice and not elegant.
I loved seeing the latest outing of the Ruby Parure with the gold gown although I have to admit the hairstyle screamed "Dowager Duchess of Ditchwater" more than Crown Princess of Denmark. The only thing I liked was the placement of the hair pins.

Mary looks divine in the gold dress. I love the cape.

I like the colour on her , I must say all this dresses from the last 3 events are very nice but at the same time are very simple and I guess it is because she accessorize them with all the orders so it can not be dresses with palliate or anything else. Just she has such a nice elegance that she shows them very nice!

Hope we get another look. I agree the pants don't look flattering here. I do like the top and love the earrings.

Crown Princess Mary's Eveningwear Part 17: September 2016 -
The pants are unflattering. I like the top, but I don't think the coat goes with it. The styles clash imo.

The top is beautiful. Her hair looks great and I love her earrings
I like the jacket but doesn't seem to fit the outfit.
The pants are totally unflattering on her

Disappointing look for Mary, which is very unusual for her. I usually love Mary's looks but this isn't one of them. I'm sure she'll redeem herself with her next outfit though.

I don't know about this. The top and skirt look like they were cut off of 2 different dresses and sewn together. The style, texture and color are completely different. I think I'd like it better if these were 2 different outfits.

it looks like mary has altered the dress she wore in a visit to australia to make a new one, keeping the skirt intact. or maybe it was a skirt + top in the first place and she recycled the skirt with a new top?

I agree Carlotta, looks like another recycle. I must say I like the skirt (or skirt if the dress?) better the first time. The materials and textures go better together.
She looks elegant. I love the skirt/bottom of the dress, and I like the top. But I don't find they go well together. The colors put me off. They either need to match or more if a contrast. Looks like someone made a failed attempt to match.
But I love her accessories. I as always love the new tiara. Wish they would make/buy one for Marie.

I think that the top is separate from the skirt. The two different materials of the top and skirt don't work together IMO - this outfit looked better the first time with the belt.

I prefer this new tiara to her wedding tiara.

I could be wrong, but i think tonight's outfit is actually a two-piece - a silk top with a lace overlay and a matching silk skirt. If I am right, then that plus the lighting could account for the seeming difference in the texture of the materials when in fact they were made to be worn together - as she did tonight - originally.
Certainly not what I was expecting for a state dinner, but she looked beautiful, regardless.
