January 25, 2013 - Maxima in a red skirt suit with a red hat that looks like turban. The suit is recycled. I like the colour, the fit on her. I wish her hair was pulled up with the this particular hat style. Nevertheless she looked good!

We've seen the outfit before at Princess Estelle's christening last May:

red suit looks pretty, better now than at the christening, with her hair loose the hat is less for an older woman and I prefer these shoes to the red ones.

That red outfit is one of my favorite looks from her! It's a very classic and elegant look. Also, the color is gorgeous!

perhaps because the designer is Dutch, Patricia van der Vliet, now that I look at it again, the pants are really unflattering, capri length and flared at the bottom, even if you had coltlike legs....

Classy outfit and put together much better this time, I love the hat and the fact that those red peeptoe shoes were left behind.

Super love the red suit! The orange-red color really suits her coloring, the neckline is ab fab and adore the double brooches, would seem like the top wouldn't need anything but they really do what jewlery should.
Much better than at Estelle's christening. Like the hair down with the turban, no pearls, and shoes look so much better!

Princess Maxima looks amazing in red. I particularly liked the cut of this jacket on her. The skirt length was also perfect.

me too, do not like the boots but the coat?/dress is pretty.
On one picture it looks like if she wears way too much bronzer, with the heavy made eyes and lipstick......

The dress is not bad, but the boots are horrible. Does the make up get any more orange!!!

I'm thinking the same! I like Maxima's dress and boots, though. IMO she looks older in the first picture.

With only three months to go before Princess Maxima becomes a queen, I have started to see her more not just as a princess-one-day-to-be-a-queen, but as a princess imminently to become a queen! I wonder whether, over the coming months and especially following the inauguration, Maxima's style will subtly change to become more conservative or simplified somehow or become more "queenly".
I do love Maxima's style and some of the amazing things she wears, but am intrigued to see whether it will develop or change once she becomes queen.
Looking back, when Beatrix first came to the throne, her fashion and style seemed quite usual for a woman to wear - nice patterned day dresses and nice hats. Then, as the years went on, her style changed I think quite dramatically, using brighter colours, sumptuous patterns and at times extraordinary designs with large cuffs, unusual neck-lines and the squared shoulders....not to mention the incredible hats that one instantly recognises as belonging to Queen Beatrix! The basic cut and style is always the same, with just the colour or pattern changing.
