Can anyone tell me about the Greek Crown Jewels? The only information I can find is regarding the Crown of King Otto which was returned to Greece in the reign of King Paul, but Google images shows another, far nicer, crown but I can find no information about it at all.

The Crown Jewels after his election as King Otto of Greece, they had ordered, in 1832, from jewelery «Fossin et Fills» in Paris, famous for the royal coronation, which was scheduled to take place in Athens, in the temple of Ag. Irini. These crown jewels, never arrived in Greece, and finally, no coronation ceremony.

Tthe Crown, the Sceptre and the Sword ritual, were in Iohenschwangau Munich tower. After the lapse of long correspondence between Bonn embassy (Ambassador Th. Ypsilanti) and FM (Ev. Averoff), for solving a number of procedural matters were returned to Greece in December 1959.
By order of his father, Duke Albrecht of the house Wittelsbach of Bavaria, Prince Maximilian came to Athens to deliver the royal family of Greece the crown jewels, the ancestor of Otto sulfur. The tradition of royal insignia, was in a festive ceremony in the palace throne room Athens on 21 December.

As for the use of the royal crown jewels of Otto, only the crown and the ceremonial sword used twice since 1959, at the funeral of King Pavlos in 1964, and the funeral of Queen Freideriki in 1981.

From the crown jewels, crown probable that is held by the Greek royal family, while the remaining two did not know where, and not those set out in the National History Museum, the Old Parliament building, as it turned.

Many thanks Eya I often wondered what happened to them after the King was exiled and if they were on display.

Where is the crown of Greece? Is it in the possession of the royal family?

I don't think it is or we would have seen it at the late King's Funeral and perhaps the Government wouldn't allow it!

I read that King Constantine asked that the crown not be displayed at the funeral.

Otto's Royal Emblems Found on Tatoi - Scepter, Crown and Sword
The royal emblems of King Otto of Greece, the crown, the scepter and the sword, were found in Tatoi, in very good condition, well preserved and carefully packed.

The royal emblems were found during the documentation of cultural goods and movable objects by the staff of the relevant services of the. Hellenic Ministry of Culture.

In the past there had been much discussion and many speculations about the specific emblems and their whereabouts.

Now, the royal emblems will be preserved and then, as announced by the Minister of Culture Lina Mendoni, after consultation with the Prime Minister and the President of the Parliament, will be delivered to the Hellenic Parliament in order to be permanently exhibited in the Hall of Trophies "Eleftherios Venizelos".

Were these items presumed lost prior to the discovery?

Yes. The Crown was thought to be in the possession of the Greek Royal Family. According to the Greek press the Jewels were hidden in the Palace of Tatoi.
The crown was last seen in public at Queen Friederike's funeral.

Are the Crown Jewels already on display in the “Eleftherios Venizelos” Trophy Room of the Greek Parliament?
