The Tower of London

If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
The Yeoman Warders at the Tower of London will be hosting a unique two-night fundraising event of variety acts by a cast of West End performers on Saturday 13 February and Sunday 14 February 2016.

Live at the Tower Charity Gala

If you've never visited The Tower of London, perhaps you didn't realise there is more to it than the usual postcard shots.

Here are some photos I took when there earlier this year.

(No photos of the Crown Jewels though - not allowed.)

Mesh animals are all about, representing the creatures who used to live within the Tower's walls.

There is a pub within - "The Keys" - but you have to be a yeoman to drink there.

And for those who live there, their homes are not private from the tourists walking around the internal walls looking down.

Beautiful pictures and wish I was back there. Visited once a long time ago and loved London with all the history around. Thank you!

The view from the windows of one of the ladie's loos.

And they do a Changing of the Guard ceremony there too, which draws the crowd.

(You're very welcome M. Payton. Certainly a place full of history. Even when you're there, you can only scratch the surface, there is so much,)

The Crown Jewels are housed in this building and normally the crowds are so great, people need to work their way through these barriers to get inside.

No queues today.

Take the tube to Tower Hill station and you can walk through a pedestrian tunnel and avoid any traffic.

The tunnel is lined with these posters.

Part of the old Roman wall is still standing here.

And they don't take themselves so seriously, that they can't be cute for the little ones who may visit.

Oh to live amongst such history and be able to see it every day, what a joy that would be for me. Thank you so much Sun Lion

Here's an interesting video on the making of Beyond the Deepening Shadow: The Tower Remembers.

So, there is a tweet today from the Keeper of the Ravens about how they are phasing out the ravens and inviting in pigeons.

What do you want to be there'll be people expressing their outrage?

I heard about that too. Seems that they're going to use a wonderful breed of carrier pigeons for top secret messages. You've never heard of a pigeon being hacked have you? :D

The lads at the Tower actually went to the trouble of recording a video to tweet out. It's funny enough to deserve a look at:

I got a belly laugh imagining the filming and editing of the video. I'll bet the crew are a lot of fun to be around. Chris Skaife certainly is a good actor; very funny!

Oh sheesh... that is too funny. How the heck Chris ever kept a straight face to look so serious about his new "position" escapes me. Very well done!

So very good. Nothing like an excellent bit of very dry Brit wit to start the day!

Wonderful news. One of my earliest memories as a child was going to the ceremony of the keys on a cold night. Magical!

"Halt!
Who comes here?
The keys.
Who's keys?
Queen Elizabeth's keys.
Pass, Queen Elizabeth's keys"

Made me jump as a kid.
