If you've never visited The Tower of London, perhaps you didn't realise there is more to it than the usual postcard shots.
Here are some photos I took when there earlier this year.
(No photos of the Crown Jewels though - not allowed.)
Mesh animals are all about, representing the creatures who used to live within the Tower's walls.

There is a pub within - "The Keys" - but you have to be a yeoman to drink there.
And for those who live there, their homes are not private from the tourists walking around the internal walls looking down.

Beautiful pictures and wish I was back there. Visited once a long time ago and loved London with all the history around. Thank you!

The view from the windows of one of the ladie's loos.
And they do a Changing of the Guard ceremony there too, which draws the crowd.
(You're very welcome M. Payton. Certainly a place full of history. Even when you're there, you can only scratch the surface, there is so much,)

The Crown Jewels are housed in this building and normally the crowds are so great, people need to work their way through these barriers to get inside.
No queues today.

Take the tube to Tower Hill station and you can walk through a pedestrian tunnel and avoid any traffic.
The tunnel is lined with these posters.
Part of the old Roman wall is still standing here.
And they don't take themselves so seriously, that they can't be cute for the little ones who may visit.

So, there is a tweet today from the Keeper of the Ravens about how they are phasing out the ravens and inviting in pigeons.
