Interesting film

In the second video at around 5:53 you can see Frogmore Cottage for a few seconds.
When my sister’s house was being remodeled they moved into a rental house for several months, they had 2 complaints about the rental house, you could hear planes overhead and the chorus of frogs you could hear at night. I stayed several nights in the house over the course of their living there and neither sound bothered me, the planes because they weren’t very loud and I thought the frogs charming, but different people tolerate things differently. W/ as aircraft crazy as the Wales brothers are and as Prince George appears to be perhaps the Sussex children will become plane spotters :)

On the Trip Advisor site I've found some conflicting opinions about noise levels in Frogmore gardens

the gardens are a haven of peace and tranquility (apart from the planes taking off from Heathrow every minute!)

the only downside is the planes, as the house is on the Heathrow flightpath

Unfortunately it is now in the flight path for Heathrow Airport so every few minutes the peace is shattered by landing aeroplanes

if you are an avid plane spotter (who isn't!) then why go to Heathrow, as Heathrow comes to Frogmore - every minute

We were told that the gardens where used by them to have family picnics, but I would not think they would want to spend anytime there as it is in the direct path of the airport, planes going over every minute or so, extremely noisy

Does this mean all the birds and the bees are stone deaf at Windsor.

has a short info about the fact that the former nanny of the queen's children, Mabel Anderson, who is 91 y. old, lives allegedly in the house opposite Frogmore Cottage (you can see it on google maps) and had to endure the noise of the transformation of the cottage into Harry & Meghan's new home. I don't think the queen would put up her reliable and loyal servant in a "grace & favour" home that is plagued by air noise, or maybe Ms. Anderson is stone-deaf. Who knows. But I bet Harry and Meghan know exactly how to deal with the surroundings of their new home.

When we stop to think about it, the Queen's favorite residence is Windsor Castle and that's right in the same neighborhood. For all we know, the air traffic may have a good purpose such as "Oh! There goes the 4:35 flight out. Time to take the dogs out." She's lived with it all these years and its never been a problem. Royals have lived at Royal Lodge and Bagshot Park also and called it home.

Harry and Meghan, having spent time in and around Windsor prior to their marriage had no qualms about the air noise when they opted for Frogmore Cottage as their home.

Interesting titbit in gossip column from DM - apparently Mabel Anderson the nanny to the Queen's children lives yards away from Frogmore cottage

Frogmore gives them lots of privacy. Home Park in Windsor is a private 655-acre (265 ha) estate, with severals entrances. I think they have chosen privacy over noise nuisance. They will be able to get out of the house for long walks with dogs, do some jogging, riding, play golf, tennis etc, without being seen. The luxury of several entrances provides them with golden opportunity of comings and goings as they please.
Perhaps they already live in Frogmore House overseeing the renovation of the cottage.

This is terrific news, and in time for the baby's arrival too. All those wedding presents to unpack and arrange, relaxing in their own place at last!

Ahhh... nothing better than Home Sweet Home! Glad everything is ready on time for them to move in before the baby comes. Wonder if the Queen has stopped by yet for a cup of tea and to see the new place?

I thought this might be happening since Harry was pretty off the canvas last week - seememd to be a quiet week with focus on C&C in Cuba etc. Happy for them that they are settled - and nice in time for the baby ....and Easter Court. I'm sure all of the family will welcome them to the neighborhood.

Excellent news! And I am sure a big weight off their shoulders now that they can start nesting. I know when we did renovations to my house, I was pretty much constantly stressed---and I wasn't expecting a baby at the same time!

If you search the National Archives online catalog, you can find floor plans of Frogmore Cottage from when Archduchess Xenia lived there. The plans aren't available online but you can send away for them if you want. However, the cottage won't much resemble that anymore, because it was greatly expanded after she left. Then it was carved into separate living spaces, then remodeled again for the Sussexes. The only things it probably has in common anymore are the outer walls, windows and a roof. Lol... It might be cool, though, to see how the original cottage was laid out before electricity and modern kitchens.

Interesting, thanks for sharing Oona. I didn't realise that Grand Duchess Xenia lived at Frogmore during her exile from Russia. You learn something new everyday!

Seems like Harry and Meghan had the color of Frogmore Cottage changed to a warm peach (from what I can see). I don't know if we're going to anymore of the changes that were made.

In addition, Frogmore Cottage was fully soundproofed, including with double-planed glass windows. There may even be some shutters on the inside of the windows in some rooms, perhaps accompanied by noise-reducing window treatments.

The picture with the peach walls is from the Morocco trip. The others look like old shots of the cottage pre-renovation, but the article does say there’s been a fresh coat of white paint on the exterior.
