What were kitchens of King Henry VIII like?

I do not think food was in a very sanitary place. During this time period cleanness was not a high priority and how to treat illness were not very well know either it seems. Me, I would be afraid to eat what they served now. back then it seems like it was a free for all in eating as much as you could for that could be your last meal for a long time.....

Thanks for the video and I did enjoy it.....

Thank you for showing this. As someone who does needlework and loves the ancient and old fabrics, this is amazing. To think these have survived all these years and are still so outstandingly beautiful and in such great shape. Like the paintings on the walls of the tombs of ancient Egypt, these should be cherished and preserved for an eternity. Would so love to see these someday.....now onto researching Hampton Court and the tapestries.

:previous: M. Payton, The needlework is extremely intricate. One of my aunts is an embroideress. Thus I know that sewing and needlework takes a long time.

I would love to met your aunt for I bet she has knowledge in needlework that I could learn. Where I live there is no one around that does this anymore, and yes it takes a very long time to do a good job on a piece, been working on a Christmas lady for over a year now and it has over 1,000 beads and I have yet to get to the beading as that is the last thing to do on a piece. These old tapestries just thrill me for I also understand the time and dedication it takes to do one and to think there was not the lighting way back then to work on a tapestry like we have today. Today I could not do this without my led light at my side......back to my needlework.?

What great pictures Eya, and the one of the chimneys is so BEAUTIFUL, what great looking chimneys and to think they sit on top of a house showing casing the house.....they are the icing on a cake for me!

That photo would make a lovely Christmas Card :previous:

In 2017, two early Tudor buildings were unexpectedly discovered in a small trench excavated during conservation works at the West Front of Hampton Court Palace. The archaeologist tells the story.

"The Queen’s carriage horses are turned out at Hampton Court Palace, where they will remain whilst they are not required for official duties.

There are two types of carriage horse - Cleveland Bays & Windsor Greys. All the horses are named by The Queen. "

I really enjoyed Phil Spencer's Stately Homes Series its been one of my favourites in recent years.

Yes I agree! He's a likeable character & the series isn't too academic or dry.

I hope there's another series.
