You better say luckily the ARD didn switch off the Programme just before the flypast begins as they used to do in the last years.
They hardly showed how the queen entered the balcony before returning to their normal boring programme.

I don't think the queen is willing to cut it. That's up to Charles as king. I assume the queen's royal cousins will stay but their children and grandchildren will no longer be included.

I am not sure whether Margaret's children and grandchildren will stay or go.

Way too many folks on that balcony...I worry for the folks on the edges!

They can always alternate on the balcony to be fair to everyone and they can all get together afterwards anyway for a family gathering .I bet it’s just like an annual family reunion :Catch up on news, get to know the new babies and spouses, get reacquainted. In any family it’s important for the children and young people to meet and hear family stories or anecdotes from the elderly and make memories to pass down.

Louis is too darn cute. A ball of energy. I laughed at how bored George looked.

William and Catherine can't help but laugh at Prince Louis. He's wiggling, clapping and waving

I didn't think those on the outer sides of the balcony looked squashed, if anything the Michael's of Kent and their children/childrens spouses always look to have plenty of room in the area they stand at every year. It's the family members gathered around the Queen who always look like they are fighting for space.

Yes, the Sussexes were squashed to the back last year, so much so that Meghan could hardly be seen.

Prince Louis definitely stole the show this year. He's such an amazing, happy child, huge kudos to his parents.

I wish we could see what everyone is wearing, not just senior royals!
I'd like to see a decent photo of Sophie Winkleman (her fashion choices are always interesting) or Lady Gabriella.

But I haven't seen any clear pictures at all.

It is the Queen's birthday. They are the birthday girl's family. But it indeed looks crowded.

It's definitely too crowded in the middle & too many people on the sides. All the cousins etc could get a good view of the fly-past from the garden so they could still be at the lunch party. I couldn't even see Sophie on the balcony - was she up there?

I can't stand his presenting-style because he never shuts up & talks over all the music. Thankfully we can now mute him with the red button on the TV remote & have commentary-free coverage. My mother refers to her red button as 'the Huw Edwards button'.

I agree. The Queen's Gloucester and Kent cousins have been very supportive of her & the monarchy throughout her reign. Inviting their children & grandchildren to join her on the balcony is a nice gesture on her part. Not including them because it's too crowded and strangers can't identify them seems a little rude.
