I think the boy in the glasses is Xan Windsor, Lord Culloden. I think the two boys in sailor suits are Albert and Leopold Windsor.

I can only begin to think of what went through the Queen's mind as she stood there on the balcony with all of her family around her behaving like families do. To know that each and every person on that balcony were not only her family but also her staunchest supporters in her work of a lifetime. She has so much to be proud of.

The kids always make me smile but I think the biggest smile had to be the Queen, herself, smiling wide at the fly past.

@wyevale: At least you knew what to expect from with the noise of the fly past and realize its not the time most conductive to taking a nap eh?

I agree Nico that this is an upgrade for Harry now that he is married. IMO he and Meghan will likely have their own carriage until the day that Harry becomes one of the colonels of the regiment. From that point on he'd ride on horseback and Meghan would probably join Camilla and Catherine in a carriage.

It looks like Meghan has learned the ropes now. She went down with her head straight rather than bowing it as she did on her Christmas curtsy (and was much criticized for that). Nevertheless, she still can't quite keep the head and the torso on the same vertical plane as Kate does.

I love the interactions between the cousins. "Future king? nah just my little cousin."

I don't mind the balcony is a bit chaotic, it's more "lively" to me, that's how a family should be.

In regards to all the carriage seating chatter - couldn't they just add another carriage if required?
Glad Harry and Meghan had their own carriage in some ways, nice to see Camilla and Kate together. At the end of the day Harry and Meghan are less important than them and people need to just accept that fact, that is how royalty works. It also allows them to face forward and be seen more easily.

There is no need to extend the balcony IMO, I suspect once Charles becomes King there will be less people invited to stand on it.

Kate has been a royal for 7 years. Meghan has been a royal for exactly 3 weeks. I should think that it would be obvious that Kate should be more of the expert at curtseying!

Meghan is still learning and making progress especially with the royal wave. She will learn to do the perfect curtsey in time and with practice.

I was looking through old balcony appearances, and I found this from 1980. Does anybody know who the two people behind Princess Anne would have been?

Kids do the darnest things.

But are frequently told off by their royal parents. Recently, for example, when the Danish crown princely family made a balcony appearance at Prince Frederik's 50th birthday celebration, young Prince Vincent was merely moving his head around and appearing to try to say something during the Danish royal anthem when CP Mary immediately told him to be silent and assume the proper attention position, which he did.

The one in the pink appears to be Princess Sirindhorn of Thailand, so I assume the lady beside her is either of her sisters Princess Chulabhorn or Princess Ubolratana. They are of course all daughters of the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej.

Indeed, it is Princess Sirindhorn and Princess Chulabhorn. I finally found this page (warning: it crashes one of my browsers) which says:

Quote:
June 8 - 14, guest of the British Government on study visits to places of academic and cultural interests.
Invited to lunch with Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II at Buckingham Palace, and invited to accompany Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother to watch the Trooping the Colours of the British Royal Guards.

June 14 - 17, private stay in London. (accompanied throughout the visit by H.R.H. Princess Chulaporn)

Was Jack Brooksbank on the balcony? I see someone in glasses that looks like him but can't tell if it is him or not.

I’m curious about who some of the other people on the balcony were. The teenage girls with dark hair must be Lady Helen Windsor’s daughters Eloise and Estella. At a guess the boys in the sailor suits are Albert and Leopold Windsor. The boy in the glasses is possibly Xan Windsor, Lord Culloden, and the blonde girl is his sister Lady Cosima. Is the younger girl a cousin of Xan and Cosima, possibly Lyla Gilman?

Balcony at Trooping the Colour today

Can anybody tell me who the young woman is, who was standing far right on the balcony after today's Trooping the Colour.
Youngish, long dark hair, no hat and didn't look particularly dressed for a big occasion.
Was she a nanny? They don't normally get out onto the balcony do they? But she was not any of the Queen's children or grandchildren.

Just puzzled.

Welcome to TRF!

Can you add a picture? It is most likely a descendant of one of the queen's cousins as the Kents and Gloucesters and princess Margaret's family are also invited.

(I don't think this warrants a separate topic though, I expect the mods will merge it with the general Trooping topic, so that's probably where you should look for the answer to your question)
