It's going to be great to see Charles ride horseback in the parade once he's King. He looks very Kingly in this review. Very nice pictures.

Interesting article in the Sunday Times regarding next weeks Trooping the Colour.

Summary

THE Duke of Kent is expected to replace the Duke of Edinburgh at the Queen’s side during the trooping the colour parade on Saturday.

The Queen’s cousin will stand in for Prince Philip, who will remain in hospital for two weeks as he recovers from exploratory surgery on his abdomen.

Plans are in place for the Duke of Kent, a colonel with the Scots Guards and personal aide-de-camp to the Queen, to travel in the carriage with the monarch during her birthday parade and to stand in for Philip as chairman of the Senior Colonel’s Conference on Friday.

The article goes on about the need for the Prince to "slow down" and that the Queen is spending the w/end at Windsor. Gun salute on Monday for DoE's birthday.

I love that The Duke of Kent is going to be with his cousin, what a lovely gesture.

That is very nice of The Duke of Kent. I thought she was going to ride in the parade alone.

Re Duke of Kent - this from Sky

#royal Duke of Kent suffered a stroke 3 months ago. Despite full recovery, he will not be mounted as precaution - medical advice

Duke of KEnt is Colonel of the Scots Guards.

It's better that he will ride in the carriage with The Queen. I guess from now on, he will ride in one of the carriages from the Parade.

Not necessarily, if he gets the all. Clear from the doctors.

There is no carriage procession to the TTC, the queen alone rides in her small carriage and is accompanied by the colonels of the regiments. Is possible that next year, if the situation with DoK is the same, then all 3 can ride in a larger carriage.

There is a carriage procession, I think, afterwards going back to BP. I that right??

I was just guessing that the Duke of Kent would ride in one of the carriages from now on. It's said that The Duke of Kent will ride with The Queen tomorrow-

Dickie Arbiter ‏@RoyalDickie 5h
Given The Duke of Kent suffered a stroke a while back it's a good move to have him accompany The Queen to Trooping tomorrow

Paul Harrison ‏@SkyNewsRoyal 6h
#royal Duke of Kent will accompany #Queen at Trooping the Colour tomorrow in his capacity as Col-in-chief of the Scots Guards #Philip

Correction: The Duke of Kent is Colonel of The Scots Guards.

Some members of the royal family arrive in carriages before the ceremony, ahead of the Queen's procession.

He could also arrive beforehand, not with the Queen. That's what the elderly (non-royal) colonels of the two Household Cavalry regiments did in the 90s, and then they would sit in chairs on either side of the Queen (the Duke of Edinburgh was still on a horse then).

I didn't know that The Queen and Royal Colonels used to salute The Queen Mother at the Trooping of the Colour Parade? In the video I posted of the 1986 ceremony, you will see this being done at 20:49.

Even I didnt know. I watched that clip now. The commentator just said that "she will look up to The QM" bot nothing like she will salute her.
I dont understand why The Sovereign is bound to salute to a Dowager Queen who has no constitutional postion.
Or maybe because when you wear full uniform with head-dress, salute is the only way of greeting someone, higher or lower. So that must be just a form of greeting and acknowledging the QM.
Or it may be that the salute was not for the QM but for some officer welcoming her at the saluting base. But the royal Colonels definitely saluted QM.
So someone will good knowledge on this..Please explain.
1.Do they always salute the "highest authority" on the war-office balcony?
2.When King Charles rides to saluting base, will William, Anne and other Royal Colonels salute Queen Camilla standing in the war office Balcony?

Judging by the past couple of years, the first carriages should leave the palace at 10:43 BST, and the Queen arrives at 11:00. I don't think they announce the guests in advance.

I have a video of the 1977 parade (I don't think it's anywhere online, unfortunately), and the commentator explicitly said "the Queen's first act on this parade will be to salute her mother," and then the Queen Mother was shown nodding. I imagine it's just a courtesy and not something she was bound to do.

Edit: I found it, at 19:53

10 am. you can watch live from 10:30 on BBC 1 if you're in the UK

The Queen will ride in a carriage with The Duke of Kent. The Duchess of Cambridge will ride with Prince Harry & the Duchess of Cornwall. Sophie, Prince Edward, Lady Louise, Prince Andrew and his daughters are expected too.
