They each have a private secretary plus the press people. Harry would have his private sec plus 2 press people probably Jason & Nick.
These were the people listed in the CC. Some it was the same type for C&C as Harry.

We will have to see how many people accompany William and Catherine to India.

For the Australian trip, the CC read:

Quote:
KENSINGTON PALACE:
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge this evening departed from Heathrow Airport, London, for New Zealand and Australia.
Sir David Manning, Mr. Miguel Head, Miss Rebecca Deacon and Dr. Edward Perkins are in attendance
Since there were definitely more than four people on that tour, I'd suggest that the CC is not a reliable indicator of how many people accompany the royals on tour.

The CC doesn't list everyone one the tour. The entry for the Cambridges return from Australia in 2014 list only Sir David Manning, Mr Miguel Head, Miss Rebecca Deacon and Dr Edward Perkins. We know there were other people on the tour such as Press Guy Nick, 2 PAs including Natasha Archer, Amanda Cook hairdresser and Nanny Maria. However, none of those other people were mentioned in the CC. It's just the 2 Private Sec, Communication head and foreign policy adviser.

As an example, the PoW and DoC took 22 people with them on their March 2006 trip to the Middle East and India. The CC listed 6 of them.

Right now, the press is fixated on W&K -- I'd venture a guess that we're not going to find out how many people C&C and H took on their recent tours unless it can be used to make W&K look bad, just because that's the dominant narrative now.

Kensington Palace usually let it be known the number of staff accompany them on the tour.

I've seen a list in Hello but am having probs loading it. I'm sure it's on the Internet.

Key issue is 4 press officers but the reason is that they need a couple with them, and a couple go ahead to prepare. The press do the same - some stay and others go ahead. It is practical and normal but much depends on how the press report it.

There is a lot going on, with a lot of travel over a short period. To me it makes sense.

Victoria Murphy said 11 people on Twitter. 4 are press officers, 1 hairdresser, David Manning, Rebecca & Miguel. That's 8. So the last three -Natasha, Fiji Orderly guy, another PA or an equerry perhaps?

Mrs Michael Wall, DCVO, sometime Assistant Press Secretary, & Extra Woman of the Bedchamber to HM Queen Elizabeth II, died at Sutton Scotney, near Winchester, 28 Oct, 2016.

She was born (Alice) Anne Hawkins, 31 Mar, 1928, a daughter of Admiral Sir Geoffrey Hawkins, by his wife the former Lady Margaret Ida Montagu Douglas Scott, a daughter of the 7th Duke of Bucceluch & Queensberry.

Anne's aunt was HRH Princess Alice, Duchess of Gloucester, &c.

Her Brittanic Majesty is a frugal boss, I am afraid to say. In the Netherlands a simple starting lackey already earns 2.500 Euro a month. With 8% holiday payment and 8,3% end of the year payment this results in a year salary of almost 35.000 Euro. (Extra salary for working in evening or night shifts, weekends, etc. not included). Almost the double of that butler at Buckingham Palace!

Maybe the British butler has accomodation, but is that favourable? Living under the boss' roof and no possibility to purchase an own independent house with that "hand out" wchich is called "salary"?

The advantage of living at BP is the ability to save and then buy a property outright. I had friends who did exactly that - they worked at BP in the 1950s and 1960s. When my friend got pregnant she had to resign and they were able to buy a flat in London without a mortgage from their saved up salary from working at BP and living in the centre of London.

If you don't have to pay the utility bills and have subsidised housing and food you should be able to save if you want to do so.

This is also a trainee position so there would be pay increases as skills develop and when they have worked at BP for some years can see their way into some very well-paying jobs in the industry.

Surely if people dont find the economic terms adequate, they dont have to apply for the job.

I have looked it up, assuming the new butler has to work some 40 hours a week, the Queen pays the butler the UK minimum wage plus a little bonus (I think the end-of-the-year bonus). The article stated that when the butler makes use of accomodation, this will be calculated in his income (with other words: no extras, he simply has to pay for living under his boss' roof).

That however is heavily subsidised compared to living costs in Central London.

I'm so tired of ''the Queen advertises for this and pays that'' thing in the press.

1. It is not the Queen, but the royal houshold who advertises for new 18,000-a-year butler.

2. It is not the Queen, but the royal houshold who desides the size of the salary.

And read the advert here:

Wow, this make my heart smile. More diversity should be brought into the royal household.

1. The DF and their stupidness:
Quote:
Twumasi-Ankrah's royal career so far has included acting as escort commander at the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall's wedding in 2011, as well as commanding the Blues and Royals at the Queen's birthday parade - but his new role will mean he could spend more time at Her Majesty's side than even her husband, the Duke of Edinburgh.

2. I read the original Sunday Times article by Roya Nikkhah rigth after it come out at 12:01am - and here are some of it:
https://www.thetimes.co.uk/edition/n...erry-dg3l7zjmt
Quote:
The Queen has chosen a Ghanaian-born officer from the Household Cavalry to fill one of the most important roles in the royal household. Her next equerry will be Major Nana Kofi Twumasi-Ankrah, an Afghanistan war veteran known as TA to his friends.

It is thought to be the first time any member of the royal family has appointed a black equerry, a role that requires immense discretion but in the past has also had a brush with scandal.
Quote:
It is understood that he is in a transition phase with the current equerry Wing Commander Sam Fletcher and will start in the role later this year.
Quote:
The Queen is understood to have personally selected Twumasi-Ankrah from several candidates. His duties will include close attendance to the Queen in public, personally assisting her with official engagements and welcoming high-profile guests to royal residences.
3. Wing Commander Sam Fletcher (which seems to be a very nice guy) was appointed in 2015, and other recent equerries has lasted for 2/3 years, so Twumasi-Ankrah will likely stay in that position until 2019/2020.

She did, as did Edward VII. Both of them abhorred racism in any form.
