The Queen wields Buckingham Palace jobs axe and fires senior staff | Daily Mail Online
There are many errors in this article, as usual. Rebecca English should read what she has written before and compare it with what she writes now.
Politicians / media are always complaining that the monarchy costs too much, has too many employees who earn too little, and that they don't spend enough money on renovations. And now, they are complaining about this.
Quote:
Most employees, however, work for the Queen out of pride and loyalty – and the understanding that they have a job for life.
The source explained: 'Staff are rarely made redundant… so to see four people go in almost as many months is shocking.
|
I understand that this is a difficult situation for those concerned, but if the royal household have to spend more money on renovations, then they are forced to reduce the number of staff.
Royal Belt-Tightening Sees Palace Job Cuts
Quote:
Reviews are carried out to ensure the Queen's Household is run efficiently which can involve redundancies, an official confirms.

THE chief aide to the Prince of Wales, William Nye, is to be the next Secretary General of the Archbishops' Council and of the General Synod, it was announced on Wednesday.
Mr Nye, who is 49, has been Prince Charles's principal private secretary since 2011. He will take up his appointment as the most senior member of staff at Church House, Westminster, in November, when William Fittall, his predecessor for the past 13 years, retires.
A civil servant all his working life, Mr Nye has worked on the arts for the Department of Culture, Media and Sport, and on national security for the Home and Cabinet Offices. He is practising member of the Church of England, and has been a parochial church councillor, deanery-synod member, and churchwarden over the past 20 years.

A potential major scandal involving members of the royal household in the 1970s.
Royal Household will fall in sights of £100m child sex abuse inquiry - Telegraph

A statement from the inquiry later confirmed the monarchy will be “potentially within the scope” of the hearings, following several allegations made in the last year involving the Royal Household.

I hope and believe that these allegations not are directed against members of the royal family, but there are rumors in the media.
Royal was in suspected paedophile ring but inquiry was shut down for 'national security' | Daily Mail Online
I can not imagine that neither Philip or Charles would have done something like this, and I hope I can say the same about the Duke of Kent and the Duke Gloucester. Andrew and Edward were very young at the time.

There was a member of Philip's staff who was charged recently but I believe found not guilty. The people around the royals such as Saville are notorious so it wouldn't surprise to find that any of these men where involved in the 1970s. I hope not but wouldn't be surprised.

When the Queen’s private secretary, Sir Christopher Geidt, was awarded his second knighthood in 2014 the citation read for ‘a new approach to constitutional matters... [and] the preparation for the transition to a change of reign’. (my bolding)
Christopher Geidt is a KCVO personally from the Queen but his second knighthood is the Order of the Bath from the government with the above citation.
It was just another indication that preparations are always ongoing behind the scenes and even though we don't always see it, the government and the BRF is on top of things.
It bolsters the statement from Alastair Martin, Secretary and Keeper of the Records for The Duchy of Cornwall who said the process of involving William with the Duchy has been ongoing because they never know when the succession will happen.

As William has been attending meetings of the Duchy of Cornwall - at least one per year - for the years that I have been keeping records I am surprised and anyone would suggest that they aren't on top of things.
There have been reports since at least the 1980s that the Earl Marshal has the plans for the next coronation underway - just part of him doing his job. I suspect that they are reviewed regularly - at least every time they have to be updated to a new computer system e.g. from Windows 8 to Windows 10 (assuming that is the system they are using and I have no idea of course). They also regularly review the funeral arrangements for The Queen, Philip and Charles and in the past the Queen Mum, whose model was quickly put into place 18 years ago this week for Diana.
The Earl Marshal knows his job as his family have been doing it since the Middle Ages so no doubt he has no only the final plans but even draft plans for coronations and other royal events going back that far in the family's records.

Robin Ludlow, who has died aged 84, was press secretary to the Queen from 1972 to 1973; a complete outsider to Palace life, he considered that he had been brought in as a moderniser but soon found that in the early 1970s the Palace was not yet ready for the changes he proposed.
He was headhunted for the Palace job from the world of advertising in 1971, interviewed by William Heseltine and Sir Michael Adeane, and after a glass of sherry with the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh, he was offered the job.
During his brief tenure, he oversaw the press for the Queen and her immediate family. He dealt with the key correspondents from the BBC, Thames TV and the Press Association and made a point of calling on the senior newspaper editors.

That's seem kind of low for C&C. Doesn't they usually have a doctor along with them plus a hairdresser for Cam? The Queen took her doctor along when she & Phlip went to Italy couple of years ago. Hairdresser is not charged to govt tab probably the same with Doctor.
They each have a private secretary plus the press people. Harry would have his private sec plus 2 press people probably Jason & Nick.
