Right...that's just assuming this is an issue.

Just reminds me of when William asked his mom to not get involved in anti-fox hunting agendas. Perhaps he spoke to the Queen and asked for a non-ivory option.

But as i understand it after reading this thread, it's also possible that Catherine has already received this order and we just haven't seen her wear it yet?

It's possible that she received it this year. We won't know if she have it until she attends the next State Visit coming up and the Diplomatic Corps reception in Dec. She will wear it if she got it. It's required during evening State events.

We would already know if the royals still attended operas and galas in tiaras and orders like they did back in the day. Also, the orders used to be worn at official receptions and dinners on foreign royal tours.

The doorknobs in the inside of the State Carriages may be ivory. Huuuuuuu.... Will Catherine now boycott the State Opening of Parliament because of this? Take the Bentley or Rolls. Wait a moment? What does my eye see? Is that ivory in that fabulous craftmanshiplike finest fineered mahoganny with inlays as inside panelling? We will take a bicycle! With other words:u if ivory is the painpoint, good heavens... where to begin? The palaces are studded with ivory. From the piano keys to the billiard balls. From the royal fans to the jewelry cassettes...

Have you read the whole thread?

The objection does not come from me, I'm just commenting from that point. Someone raised the issue of William being against all the ivory and that perhaps this is why the order (if given) has not been seen.

Princess Alexandra, the Hon Lady Ogilvy, has adopted the habit of wearing her RFOs on her right shoulder. Normally the RFOs are worn on the left shoulder. Have we any suggestions why HRH has decided to swap her orders to the other shoulder?

I'm at a complete loss as to why she has started to do this!

I guess she decided to change up things a bit.

The Queen isn't wearing any of hers.

Maybe because that's where the space was on the dress. The right side is occupied with the Garter Sash so instead of putting the 2 orders on top of the sash, she moved them to the other side.

It might be to accommodate the ribband of the order of the garter?

Seems the most obvious reason to me. The two Kent ladies: picture.

Yes I did wonder that too, but normally The Queen wears hers on top of her Garter sash. It's just been a recent change (I think the Chinese state banquet last year was the first time I've seen this).

Absolutely stunning HRH. Such a shame that ivory is keeping Catherine from receiving her RFO though. For someone in her senior position, a order without ivory should've been made for her. I'm hugely disappointed in this misstep.

Do we know that she has been offered and refused it because of ivory or is that mere speculation?

I doubt that she would insult the Queen by refusing so the only other interpretation would be that the Queen hasn't offered it to her - yet - which would suggest that The Queen doesn't believe that she has done enough to earn it. It is after all up to The Queen to decide whom she wishes to so honour and it seems she doesn't believe Kate has earned it.

Any reason why Kate hasn't received a RFO yet is speculation including the ivory argument and the belief that the QEII believes she doesn't deserve it. The Queen has never stated publicly the criteria that goes into receiving the order. Could you really argue that few months married Diana "deserved" the RFO over Kate?

Catherine wouldn't refuse an order. William's position on ivory is preventing her from getting it. I'm sure The Queen understands his position.

Catherine has done enough to get it. The royal ladies usually get it early on. It's not a knighthood, but a personal gift from the monarch to senior royal ladies. Catherine has been a senior working royal for nearly 6 years, she has worked hard to get it.

Ivory is preventing her from getting the current version. Why on Gods green earth they're not making a new one, without ivory, for Catherine?
