"We’re delighted to announce that The Duke of Roxburghe and Miss Annabel Green were married this weekend at Floors Castle. We wish the happy couple all the happiness for their future together."

Annabel is his second wife and prior to becoming duke he was married briefly from 2011-2012 to Charlotte Susanna Aitken which ended in divorce.

I am thinking about reading Lady Diana Cooper's three volume set of her memoirs. Has anyone read this and what are your thoughts about it? She has been in other historical books I have read and I am interested in reading about her. However, I know that memoirs can be biased simply because they are written from the point of view of the author. Are they worth my time? Thanks.

Floors Castle is, I think, where Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan was shot. It is a magnificent building.

Peerage titles with the same territorial designation: Duke of Cambridge and Marquess

Is there any example where there were two extant peerage titles with the same territorial designation?

I wonder if the male line of the Marquess of Cambridge (created in 1917) didn't die (extant). Would the Queen re-create the historic Duke of Cambridge (reserved for members of the Royal family) for Prince William or would she bestow other Dukedom with different territorial designation? It wouldn't be a "conflict" if there two Cambridges as long as they are not of equal rank or am I wrong?

Thanks in advance!

Very sad news from British Nobility:

The Hon William Alexander Hugh Napier, Master of Napier, son and heir of the Lord Napier and Ettrick, died 28 August, 2021, aged 25.

He was born 10 June, 1996, the only son of the 15th Lord Napier of Merchistoun [born 3 Nov, 1962] [Scottish peerage Lord Napier of Merchistoun, cr 1627], and the 6th Baron Ettrick [cr UK, 1872], and his wife the former Zara Jane McCalmont [born 1964], daughter of Hugh Dermot McCalmont, of Newmarket, Suffolk.

He is survived by both parents, and a sister, the Hon Sophie Eleanor Rose Napier [born 24 May, 1999].

The heir presumptive to the Lordship of Napier of Merchistoun, the Barony of Ettrick, and the family baronetcy is now the Hon Nicholas Napier [born 27 Feb, 1971], younger brother of the present peer.

Anyone knows why did he die in so young an age?

When I typed in The Hon William Alexander Hugh Napier on Google, the only latest link was the peerage news link announcing his death. I couldn't find any more information on why he died so young at aged 25.

The peerage website (different from the peerage news) has not updated yet as of 10th November 2021.

Hon. William Alexander Hugh Napier
M, #658960, b. 10 June 1996
https://www.thepeerage.com/p65896.htm#i658960

Francis David Charles Napier, 15th Lord Napier of Merchistoun
M, #58578, b. 3 November 1962
https://www.thepeerage.com/p5858.htm#i58578

The wikipedia (not exactly reliable) pages for Lord Napier, of Merchistoun and Francis Napier, 15th Lord Napier (present peer) stated that his daughter (The Hon. William Napier's younger sister) is the heir apparent rather than the Hon Nicholas Napier [born 27 Feb, 1971], younger brother of the present peer. Even the citation numbering has unreliable source on it.

The heir apparent is the present holder's daughter the Hon. Sophie Eleanor Rose Napier, Mistress of Napier (b. 1999).[unreliable source?]

Given that the Lordship of Napier has already passed through a female line and that the title of Baron of Ettrick is inheritable in the male line only it's possible that there are different heirs to them.
