He was due to present a live programme last week and the first time the show aired it was announced that due to family matters he would not be presenting the show.

He was born on 8 October 1922, the only son of the 6th Marquess and Marchioness of Anglesey. He succeeded as the 7th Marquess at the death of his father in 1947.
He was married since 1948 to Shirley Morgan, by whom he had three daughters and two sons.

Shouldn't his son be the 8th marquess, not the 9th?

PBS Program Video:
Secrets of the Manor House: Secrets of Chatsworth-
In its 500-year history, Chatsworth has been home to some notable inhabitants, among them the 5th Duke of Devonshire, his wife, Lady Georgiana Spencer, and Lady Elizabeth Foster, who lived together in a ménage à trois. King Edward VII enjoyed shooting parties on the estate and was often entertained by Duchess Louisa, one of Britain’s foremost political hostesses-

Yes, of course, his son is now the 8th Marquess. I made a typo with numbers...

It was no accident that the magnificent Victorian Highclere Castle was chosen as the setting for Julian Fellowes’ all-conquering TV drama, Downton Abbey.
The eighth Countess of Carnarvon and Julian’s wife, Lady Emma Kitchener-Fellowes – Lord Kitchener was her great-granduncle – had long been friends.

I really have to feel for this couple and admire them. Its becoming more and more the norm for older people to find out that their golden years are going to be a struggle rather than the happy picture of a glorious retirement and one quickly learns how to stretch a dollar as far as it can go.

These two have faced many problems as with the various lawsuits in regards to the estate, periods of depression and drug dependency, found each other and are now happily bringing a child into the world and are extremely happy albeit concerned about the welfare of the child. I wish them the very best and hopefully things will hit a smoother path for them in the future.

This story really hits home as we read and come to the stark realization that nothing is ever to be taken for granted and life sure can throw some curve balls into our paths. Thanks for posting this Homme!

When i read this sort of stories on daily mail I always have a feeling that there's more to the story than the article mentions... It would be interesting to hear a response from the trustees or from the older son Thomas...

Earls in England

Good morning to everyone :)

My name is Javier. Recently I became very interested in the Peerage of England. The reason is that my wife is a big maniac on the topic and I want to surprise her for her birthday in the end of February. I want to prepare a Birthday Card with wishes from all the currently alive Earls and Countesses in England, since this is her favourite title (I know it is a very ambitious objective, but I want to try to do it.). I was trying to find some information about the currently alive Earls and Countesses in each county in England. Unfortunatelly I'm not able to discover any records or other relevant source on the topic. I spent the last 2 weeks trying to find something, but apart from the data for some of the most famous counties (Suffolk for instance) there is no other reliable information I could find. I would be really grateful if someone could help me out with this!

I appologize in case the topic in not in the correct section. I'm a newbie in the forum.

Best wishes to everyone!
Javier :)
