"As for the family feud, he says, there is nothing the three sisters want more than to heal the rift with their brother – before it is too late. “We’re all getting old,” Worsthorne sighs"....after reading the artucle it sounded as if the sisters were more interested in the money than in healing any rift with a brother they had never been close to. Trying to claim a share of assets sold before their fathers death seems very odd. Since Lucinda is apparently now living in a house her father left her it would appear as if daddy did not totally forget about his daughters. Why should the late earl have been expected to provide for any of his adult children who presumably have made their own way on the world for a number of years before his death?

After reading this article, I've come to know that titles, wealth and the "right stuff" is not a guarantee of class and grace.

Well all parents do have the right to object to their childrens marital partners and we all know the Baths are probably the least traditional noble family in the country. They go well beyond mere eccentricity.

A really beautiful couple. She looks so lovely and he looks so proud.

Lenora - why have you started a completely new thread with the same story?

I started a new thread in "noble weddings" section, as I've seen the duke of Percy's daughter 's wedding was also put there.
If that's not right, the moderators can remove it.

Great!
It's a pity that in our modern time, people could still manifest racism.

Must be very satisfying to the bride and groom to know that while daddy may be a racist, the estate is entailed and there's not much he can do about it.

That's the best part!

She's beautiful and her dress and tiara were fantastic. Best wishes to the both of them for a long and happy marriage.

I don't think the specific reason for Lord Bath not attending his son's wedding was necessarily racism. Emma did mention experiencing some racism from other members of society, but not the Baths themselves. (There still could be some class snobbery there of course)

Bath's son took over managing Longleat in the last few years and has made quite a lot of changes, including removing his father's 'erotic' murals. Perhaps this changing of the guard, of which the mural covering was the final straw that broke the camel's back, has made Bath uncomfortable and unsure of himself. Also seeing your son change a lot of your decisions, which he may regard as the culmination of his life's work, may be turning out to be a hard pill to swallow for Bath. Not attending the wedding could be a way of punishing the son, rather than an objection to the race (or class) of the daughter-in-law.

I think you're quite right; as far as I know, from reading newspaper reports, the problems between Lord Bath and Viscount Weymouth are due to the fact that Weymouth doesn't approve his father's lifestyle and he has announced that he intends to evict his father's "wifelets" from Longleat estate and remove his father's erotic/pornographic murals from the House.
