I imagine Charles as King will continue to provide for his 2nd son just as he does now. William will provide for George, Charlotte and Louis.

We don’t really know what the financial arrangements will be during Charles reign. It’ll be up to Charles and William though to hash it all out as they’re they only two royals who will be receiving an official income.

If and it’s only an If, but if Harry and Meghan stay under KP William may pay their way. If they leave and go it alone, Charles may stump for them.

Your "IF" doesn't really make sense to me. I don't see why William would pay for his brother's expenses as Duke of Cornwall. As King, yes.

Only because if things stay the way they are now with an integrated KP and shared offices and everything, it maybe cheaper in the long run to have William continue to pay the bills.

Charles right now pays for 6 senior working royals as Duke of Cornwall. That’s a lot. If William becomes heir sooner rather then later it would only be him and Kate plus his children but they don’t really cost much as kids.

You’re probably right though, Charles will pay for them. He’ll still have his siblings to look after though.

If H and M are carrying out royal duties, then it is the responsibility to pay for those expenses - as HMQ does now for everyone except the family Wales

The Queen does not fund their lives outside of royal duties except that she gives them somewhere to live in London and she also pays the maintenance.

H has trust funds, HMQ could also do that and Charles prob has already, early to avoid death duties.

They will have to pay their own personal way living on the income from the Trusts.

Where does the money for the maintenance of the occupied royal palaces come from ? Is itpart of the Sovereign’s Grant, or does it come instead directly from other government deoartments.?

Actually, the Sovereign Grant does pay for the maintenance on occupied royal palaces.

"The Sovereign Grant Act 2011 came into effect from 1 April 2012 and consolidated the funding provided to support the official duties of The Queen and maintain the Occupied Royal Palaces. Until 31 March 2012, funding had been provided under the Civil List and the Grants-in-aid for the Maintenance of the Occupied Royal Palaces, Royal Travel and Communications and Information.
The Queen’s official expenditure is met from public."

The sovereign's grant is meant to pay not only for things like travel and expenses of the royals on the job. But also the royal homes as well. That includes said work on Buckingham palace.

In terms of cost of clothing, I believe they get a certain amount to do with as they please on tours at the request of the government, anything above that is supplemented by Charles. So, whether she wears Givenchy or high street, it doesn't make a difference to taxpayers.

That is debatable, though.
The money comes from the Duchy of Cornwall, so the public may reasonably expect some consideration from the RF.

The RF depends on public goodwill for their survival.
Reports that someone is spending a fortune on clothes will not go over well.

All the new wives that come into the family are going to spend some money to build up their wardrobe and then again every year they will add...we've seen it several times now. Nothing new really.

Who's footing the bill, Meghan? Duchess of Sussex spends huge £155,000 on 15 new outfits since the Royal Wedding

In 15 outings since the wedding, Meghan has debuted 15 brand new looks
Gone are the M&S jumpers and the little-known, affordable brands she favoured
These days, Meghan's wardrobe contains only the best clothes from the world's top design houses: Dior, Givenchy, Prada and Chanel, to name a few

Exactly!

The Prince of Wales is footing the bill.

We saw the same thing happen with Catherine when she joined the BRF and now Meghan.

Perhaps Catherine didn't spend as much on haute couture but really, Meghan was already a working actress so who knows what her wardrobe was like before she married Harry. If its from the 2018/2019 lines, you can say that most likely it was purchased with Cornwall money other than that....who knows?

Dior, Prada, Givenchy. Chanel. It add ups fast. Another reason I wish she was wearing more British and Commonwealth designers.

There also could have been purchases made that she's not worn yet.

I don't know where they come up with the figures from but if they're going by the actual cost retail from the designer, that may not actually reflect the amount charged. We don't have information into just how much is spent on personal items for the most part.

Harry is funded by his father, who gets his income in turn from the Duchy of Cornwall.

I will admit its not good optics (the $$) but since her duties have changed, I already assumed that her wardrobe would have to change. It happened with Catherine, Maxima, Mary, etc. Hopefully, she will some Commonwealth designers who won't cost as much.

As we discussed this issue earlier with Catherine, this is a working and growing closet. One assumes that while she is spending a pretty penny for some of these outfits, they will see the light of day more than one time.

I don't believe that Meghan is paying full price for anything she has worn since her wedding, and that includes her wedding gown. Designers never release the price of their garments, hats etc and the DF is both exaggerating (putting in gifts of jewellery etc into the estimates) and making wild guesses as to prices.

I also think Meghan has borrowed some clothing, which probably accounts for some of the criticisms over them not fitting properly. She has worn Commonwealth designers. One of the posters posted a long list in the clothing thread, and Meghan will undoubtedly continue on that path.
