I meant the design detail is assymetric, not the edge of the coat. I could see that the opening was central, but a brooch would probably not look good on that heavy black applique.

The Queen and Irish President Mary McAleese met in Northern Ireland on Thursday, but there was still no sign of the long-anticipated Royal visit to Dublin.

These are some photographs I took on 6 May when The Queen presented New Colours to the Irish Guards. I was lucky to be invited and see her from a very close distance.

The following photographs were taken afterwards in Victoria Barracks, the home of the 1st Battalion Irish Guards, where The Queen came to attend the Regimental reception. The Irish Guards were last stationed in the royal town of Windsor in 1980 and I think it was the last time she was in Victoria Barracks to celebrate St Patrick's Day with The Queen Mother at the time.

I actually had the honour of seeing her very close and to receive a very nice smile and 'Good afternoon' from The Queen.

Hopefully the Duke didn't wrench something when this happened- sometimes preventing a fall can be worse than an actual fall itself.

That fall was a close call. The Duke earlier this year had back problems and canceled some events he was to appear at.

I don't know how they both still work like they are in their early sixties.

I hope he's well -- one more reminder, sadly, that these two are getting older.

HM looks beautiful as ever in Northern Ireland. I often wonder why she wears the same pearls and earrings every day.

I would imagine that she wears them because she is comfortable in them and she likes them.
