I can't imagine George attending either due to his age and the type of event, how things are set up etc.

I don't remember Wills and Harry going when little...?

I doubt George will attend, but wouldn't he look adorable in a little suit with tails and a tiny top hat

Charles and Camilla visited Northern Ireland just 3 weeks age.
Which despite this recent visit from the PoW and Duchess of Cornwall still remains one of the least visited parts of the UK.

Charles and Camilla have made yearly visits since 2013. That said, there has always been an added security concern when sending royals there. In 2015 there were serious concerns about security when he visited both the republic and Northern Ireland, on both sides of the border. Logistically and security wise, it isn't as simple as sending someone to Wales or Scotland for an event.

Well isn't tomorrow the Duke of Cambridge stakes? William doesn't seem much of a racing fan, nor does Catherine, although her parents rode in a carriage the year the Cambridges married and owned part of a race horse.
If the Cambridges attend, I wonder which carriage they'll be in.
I don't recall ever seeing children at Ascot - but maybe the Queen wants to get George addicted to racing early just kidding, I'd be astonished if Prince George appeared.

Guys, young kids George's age can't go to Royal Ascot.

William and Catherine have gone to the races before, just not Royal Ascot. Catherine attended the races with her mother, sister and friends very often before her marriage. It's just in recent years since her marriage that her appearances at the races slowed down.

I recall when Zara was really young, about 12 or 13 or so, she attended Ascot, and as I recall, she had to get special permission to do so.

That rumour about Prince George being there would have come from some reporter not having a clue. Like that reporter on BBC the other day reporting from the Patron's Lunch that Princess Beatrix [sic] and Princess Eugenie were there. It was quite clear; he called her Beatrix.

The bookies were also taking bets.
10-1 that George will attend.

Anyone that has been following George since his birth knows that his interests right now lie in trains, planes, things that go vrooom and dinosaurs. Watching horses go in circles I don't think would be very amusing for him. Maybe after he learns how to place a wager maybe?

Yeah, watching him at polo events, he has no attention span for horses. And unlike polo where he could run and play around in the grass, not sure even Gan Gan would be pleased if he did that in the royal enclosure.

It seems the royals don't attend until they are adults, with a maybe a rare exception like Zara. But as even an early teen, she could sit through an event properly, especially since she was passionate about horses.

I usually don't follow Ascot (more than the fun hats) but is there a reasoning behind who sits in what carriage? Ofc Queen and Phillip is in first, but after that? And the guests in each carriage? :)

I guess they never found an opening in their schedules to attend since their marriage No, I think their attendance is pretty much part of them stepping up their duties and participation in events. I think it's all leading up to them making the transition to full times duties (likely) next year.

Nothing like going to Ascot for getting dressed to the max and looking every bit the royal Duke and Duchess. Will and Kate really seem to be enjoying themselves and the conversation looked quite lively.

William in a top hat is quite dapper and makes me wish that the days when gentlemen dressed like this more often would make a comeback.

I would like to dress up like that, but I think I would the only doing so. I guess it wouldn't hurt to be the only gentleman dressed to the nines.

It's also good to see the Cambridge's back in the company of Frederik and Mary. I wish there would be more opportunities for them to get together.
