Prince Michael of Kent, in his role as Royal Patron, unveiled a statue of British aviators John Alcock and Arthur Brown at the Brooklands Museum in Surrey on 10 February

The statue commemorates their heroic endeavors achieving the first crossing of the Atlantic in 1919 in a Brooklands designed and built Vickers Vimy.

Will Princess Michael have a book published this year?

As I read in the article, is Prince Michael really a beloved cousin to the Queen?

The Queen is quite close to all her first cousins. Why assume that she isn't cloes to Prince Michael. We do know she was upset when she wasn't able to keep her promise to him that the Michael's of Kent wouldn't be able to continue to have a rent free apartment at KP.

There aren't many people alive who remember Elizabeth as a Princess and Michael is one of them. He is also one of those who would still call her Lilibet.

Given the fact that his father died only weeks after his birth George VI took a close interest in the Kent children, including the baby who never knew his father and Elizabeth was also taken with the baby Kent.

We know she is close to his brother and sister so why assume she isn't close to the baby of the Kent family?

I don't say they aren't close. Just asking are there any grounds for this kind of statement. They may like each other but is he her beloved cousin?

Well, as much as you and me and anyone else, she does not need to be close to all her close (by blood) relatives. And I mean these days, not in childhood. It is often the seniors in the families who keep them together, like grandparents, and when by the time they're gone, everyone have their own "closer", immediate families established. Ties are weakened.

Was the Queen in close contact with the Lascelles boys? Maybe they were close to each other in their childhoods (given the age proximity). But what happened to their relationship when they stopped being playmates? I know, they weren't working royals and lived in Yorkshire so naturally there were not so many occassions to meet as there was with the Gloucesters and Kents, but still. The relations between them were not very close, I'd say. The controversies over the Lascelleses' private lives could be a factor in the (supposed?) family drift. The Queen didn't even attend Lord Harewood's funeral!

As for Michael of Kent, is his wife liked by his relatives? Do they accept her privately? We know she's a piece of work. It's important, because if she is not liked and not really accepted, the Windsors would avoid contact with her.

The KP apartment, it was meant to be a wedding gift from the Queen so it's natural that when the "affair" broke out, it became a trouble for her.

Princess Michael and Sarah of Yorh never received any Order from the Queen.

:previous:
Maybe that's because:
Princess Michael never really worked for the RF, so she has no record of public service on behalf of the Queen
Sarah, Duchess of York was in the family effectively for 6 years, while the last year (two?) before separation was already hard for the couple. So I think it was too short to get her an order.

Princess Michael and Sarah of Yorh never received any Order from the Queen.

The order is given to females in the family who give service to the queen. Princess Michael has always been a private citizen. Other then accompanying her husband on the did trip and he too is considered private. There is no reason to think her not having the order has anything to do with not being close.

Sarah is another story. Unlike Diana, and the duchesses of Kent and Gloucester, she didn't get one within a year of marriage. It was sux years before they separated. But she seemed to be the start. Sophie didn't get hers till 2005, Kate until 2018. Camilla it only took two years. Perhaps due to being the wife of the immediate heir.

Marie Christine does not hold any British Royal Orders however she is a Papal Dame of the Order of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Mercy as well as being a Dame Grand Cross of Honour and Devotion of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta.
