KP says The Duke of Cambridge will attend the garter service later, no mention of Catherine.

Catherine don’t usually attend when she’s on maternity leave. Although I hoped she would attend the service.

The Queen has been graciously pleased to appoint Dame Mary Fagan to be a Lady Companion of the Most Noble Order of the Garter, and the Viscount Brookeborough to be a Knight Companion of the Most Noble Order of the Garter.

Dame Mary Fagan, DCVO served as Lord-Lieutenant of Hampshire between 1994 and 2014 and was also Chancellor of the University of Winchester from 2006 until 2014.

Alan Henry Brooke, 3rd Viscount Brookeborough has served as Personal Lord in Waiting to The Queen since 1997 and has been Lord Lieutenant of Co. Fermanagh, Northern Ireland since 2012. He served with HM Armed Forces between 1971 and 1994, with 17th/21st Lancers, the Ulster Defence Regiment and the Royal Irish Regiment.
As Lord in Waiting, Viscount Brookesborough attended to several visiting heads of state, including President Obama in 2011. I am glad to see that he has been honored with the Garter.

Nice to see Zenouska Mowatt attending, if you look closely she is behind Camilla and Sophie at the side entrance to St George’s.

Shouldn’t only knights/ ladies of the Garter and their respective spouses attend ?

Prince Harry only attended back in 2008 when William was invested as the 1000th Knight of the Garter. Other than that, only the Knights and their spouses attend.

Perhaps she attended to be the plus one of her grandmother Princess Alexandra in place of the late Sir Angus Ogilvy.

Isn't her grandmother Princess Alexandra, Lady Ogilvy a lady of the garter? I can imagine that the members of the order get a "plus One" invitation and she brought her granddaughter along.

Just saw that crm2317 shared my thought but posted faster. Thank you!

Yes, Princess Alexandra is a LoG, but I would think it would be unusual to bring your granddaughter as "plus one". You are probably right though.

Alexandra seems to have brought her to Trooping the Colour as well. Maybe she acts like a kind of family lady-in-waiting for her grandmother and is introduced in her cousin's circles that way. Maybe Alexandra wishes her to marry well and being seen in public as a member of the inner circle of the BRF can only help her social standing. HM is not the only elderly lady of the family who wants her house settled for the future.

The auburn haired lady in the polka dot dress...

...a fetching black hat, and cute shoes, who is standing just behind Camilla and the Duchess of Gloucester in one of these pictures- does anyone know who she is?
