As there's still an opening for another Order member, will Harry get that spot or is someone else in line to be selected? How does the Queen choose who will be joining the other Garter members?

It is only the ranks of Knights Companion that has a limited membership. Members of the BRF are Extra Knights and foreign royals are Stranger Knights, and neither of these groups have any limitation on their numbers. I doubt Harry will get the KG before his father comes to the throne.

You think? Knowing the longevity of the Queen's family, she could be the monarch for another decade or better. Will they wait that long?

There isn't a rush, I just thought Harry receiving such an honor would be lovely.

Go and look at how late Andrew and Edward became Companions. It's an eye opener.

There have been 3 successors alive before, but not in a direct line. Victoria was born during her grandfather's reign, making her two uncles and herself the three successors of George III (four if you count her other uncle, who inherited Hanover). I believe William IV's first grandchild (through his eldest illegitimate son) was born just a few month's after George III died.
Victoria was alive during 3 of her predecessors reigns - George III, George IV, and William IV. She also saw the birth of four of her successors - Edward VII, George V, Edward VIII, and George VI.

Thanks I corrected it now. There is another Photo of Edward VII after he became King with his Son George V and Grandsons Edward VIII and Albert (George VI) Of course at the time it was not known that Bertie would become King.

Thanks for posting the pictures of The Order Of The Garter Service.
It was nice seening pics of Anne & Tim in the carriage. (IMHO, Tim needs to pick up Royal duties.)
It was nice that someone stayed away that way Getty would photograph the Queen & other members. (The ridiculous number of pics of a certain person/s at the Trooping the Color vs the few of the Queen at her own Birthday celebration was sad. Getty photographers need to be ashame of themselves.)
Harry & Princess Alexandra were missing.

Harry isn't a KG yet, and Alexandra has cancelled most (if not all) engagements recently due to health.

Harry can still attend w/o being a KG. Sophie, Camilla & Tim were there. Since Kate wasn't there Harry should have been there.

Why? William seemed to get on well enough without his wife or his brother being there. It's not like he needed a date.

QEII IS, indeed, beaming!
I just adore seeing her smile! She looks SO jolly and approachable when she does!
And she's got reason to smile, what with PP home, and being escorted at the Garter service by the PoW and the DoC.
WONDERFUL pics!

Camilla, Sophie and Tim are the spouses of Garter Knights. I think you will find that many of the other spouses of the Knights were also present.
Harry is simply the younger son and younger brother.

Why - he isn't a royal so couldn't do things as a royal and therefore could only do things with Anne, which he does but he also has quite a lot to do in his life as it is. From Wikipedia:
He retired from the Navy in August 2010 and now pursues a portfolio of mainly non-executive and charitable interests, with a particular emphasis on property and regeneration. He is on the Board of the project management company, Capita Symonds, is non-executive Chairman of the property developers, Dorchester Regeneration, and is acting Chairman of Saturnland, a newly established company specialising in site reclamation and regeneration. As a Senior Military Adviser to PA Consulting, he contributes to their property work as well as advising on defence issues. He is on the Boards of English Heritage, the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, the Royal National Lifeboat Institution and the HMS Victory Preservation Company. Transport interests include membership of the First Great Western Advisory Board. Other activities include tennis, golf, sailing, field sports and battlefield tours.

Tim already has enough things to do..
I always prefer men marrying into royal family have their own careers, not giving a damn for titles and fancy uniforms. Actually the way these men (right from DoE) were and are treated is heights of gender discrimination, which no one conveniently notices..

You've made a good point here.
We'll see how it comes up if/when Beatrice announces an engagement to Dave Clark.

Hi,
The Queen's robe contains a train carried by two pages.
My question is:
If Camilla and/or Catherine were made Ladies of the Garter, would they also have a train?
Did The Queen Mother have a trian and pages when she was in the procession?
Thank you for your reply.

I don't know for the others, but apparently somebody helped the Queen Mother:
