Day definitely had a Stewart history.

In 1745 Bonnie Prince Charlie defeated the Hannoverian army in a matter of 30 minutes at the battle of Prestpons.

Non Stewart, in 1327 Edward II died under disputed circumstances in prison.

Abdication is a kind word, he was deposed. He was imprisoned in the Tower of London and really had little other choice besides his own death. He was later starved to death by his cousin after a failed attempt to free him.

If it had been a simple adbication Henry IV would not have been king. He was by no means next in line for the throne. Edmund Mortimer was the great-grandson of Edward III by his second son, making his claim superior to that of Henry who was descended from his third son. Edmund though took his claim in the female line (his grandmother) and that was used to bolster the strength of Henry's claim. Edmund died childless though, though there were other heirs to his branch of the family after him.
