Can I join the crowd of people not thrilled about Cherie's outfit? There should have been some sort of coordination between the ladies - when the other females wear light colours, a dark shade like that gets darker than it really is in comparison.

A lovely group photo grom 10 Downing Street. From Polfoto.

I'm not impressed by Cherie Blair's outfit either, and I don't think she fits in that long and uncontrolled hair. If I could decide, she should cut it - but of course I can't decide that, I'm not the Blair's stylist... :D Just my preference.

The next visit is Westminster Abbey where they'll lay a wreath at the tomb of the unknown soldier.

With the lack of coverage in Britain, I think Camilla had better wear a stunning tiara tonight to get this event some attention!

not long for the gala dinner!! can't wait... :)

which tiaras do you think camilla, the queens, mette marit and anne will wear?

Doesn't Queen Sonja usually wear that emerald one for official occasions?

I don't like Mette-Marit's outfit at 10 Downing. :( It makes her look frumpy.

mm definetely looks good in these soft colours... from now on mm's suit better colour imo will be light blue combined with beige accesories :)
laminka, it's just half an hour :)

I quite agree with you, MM is like a good wine, which grows better as time goes by, there is something so fresh and unpretentious about her, she has developed a nice taste, although not always to my liking.

I have to say....although I think Mette- Marit is one of the plainest of all the CPs, it's nice to be able to look at old photos of her and compare them to photos from today and see basically the same person. I love CP Mary, she's my favorite, but she's definetly made visible changes since becoming CP whereas I think MM has stayed pretty much the same, which is great.

Mrs Blair doesn't agree with ladies wearing hats and didn't wear one to the Queen's Jubilee Lunch at the Guildhall sparking fury from thousands. She also doesn't curtsey to the Royal Family.

 Why? She isn't obliged to do it, of course, but she is the wife of the Queen's first minister... Thatcher, not the most modest of the politicians, does curtsey to the Queen.

Lady Thatcher always dropped a huge deep curtsey to the Queen and it was actually the subject of some laughter around the court. Cherie is a republican and a strong socialist and so she won't curtsey. It's tradition to wear a hat in the presence of the Sovereign but Cherie doesn't hold with that either. To not to do in the presence of foreign royalty is extremely rude and looks very bad. It's no longer 'law' to curtsey or bow - that went out of the window with all other forms of good manners and deference.

There was quite a big discussion on Cherie's views of the Royal Family in Princess Anne's thread. She does not seem like a pleasant lady.

I see... I think I won't discuss that, it's where the ban on politics takes effect.

Are we going to see any pictures from the welcome by the Lord Mayor and Councillors of the City of Westminster at St James's Palace?

Mette-Marit looked very elegant and pretty today (and the best is yet to come...I hope). If she makes an effort (and wears some colors) she's fantastic!

Does the Queen kiss all other monarchs, or is King Harald an exception being the monarch who is the closest relative to Her Majesty (second cousin if I am not mistaken)

The duchess is wearing the huge Delhi Durbar tiara:eek: I think it looks fantastic on her

All other Monarchs as far as I know. Not sure about Farah Pahlavi but she kisses all the others.

oh my god! she look terrible!

Wow that is huge. I thought she wasnt going to wear that tiara because of its associations with India. We need more pictures. I need to see a full look. I love her new hair cut. Much shorter.
