Has anybody noticed the family resemblance between the York girls and the daughters of the first Duke of Edinburgh ( Marie Melita Beatrice and Sandra)

To tell you the truth, no. Ducky, Missy, Baby Bea and Sandra looked, to me, very different than these girls.

Two points - I have always felt that William looked like a Mountbatten-Windsor and it is clear in this photo that he does have strong genes from his father.
and..
Couldn't the proofreader of this sentence actually correct the grammar? Finishing a sentence with a preposition is just so wrong (except for Winston Churchill's example "up with which I will not put")

In the angle this picture was taken William looks a lot like his uncles. Too bad Prince Charles was sick and couldn't make it.

He has a strong resemblance to Prince Andrew that shows up at various times--that square-jawed look that Prince Philip and Peter Phillips has and that Lord Mountbatten had.
Sometimes I find Harry looking like Prince Edward, especially the smile.

Funny you should say that. I saw a painting done of the royal family on the balcony in 1977 and when I first looked at this painting I was trying to ID the different people. I IDd one as Harry and had to go back and work it out considering the painting was done in 1977. It was, in fact, a 13 year old Prince Edward.

I'm so glad that I'm not the only one who sees the resemblance! There was a picture taken of an infant Prince Harry. I think that it was on Britannia and taken by Prince Andrew. It's a profile picture, and he looks like a young Edward in that one, too.

William and Harry, Beatrice and Eugenie, Louise and James
I think from a certain angle, William resembles his Grandfather, Prince Philip very much, but head-on is the image of his mother. His gestures are often those of his father--as are Harry's. I laugh when people say Charles isn't Harry's father--are they BLIND? He looks a lot like his father--just the red hair [hello, the Spencer's have red hair all thru the family!] and his upturned nose [which again is very like his Spencer grandfather at his age].
Poor Beatrice has her father's awful pop eyes. Now Eugenie, I think is lovely! She sort of looks like her mother, with her father's coloring, but not 100% of either. Very striking.
Louise is the image of her Grandmother the Queen! James, in the very, very few photos we've seen most resembles Prince Charles as a little boy. I wish they'd been on the balcony for Trooping the Colour this year!

I think Prince Philip's genes have a very strong influence within the family, not only his own kids but also his grandchildren. I see his features very dominant in Charles, Andrew and William but when I just noted Lady Louise, first thing I thought was Philip!

Lady Louise looks more like The Queen and Princess Anne.
Especially when HM was a child.

William will always have a resemblance to his mother, unless he has a nose job. He inherited her great honker. I think he may need some opthalmic correction too as, like his father, he squints most of the time. Don't get me wrong, he's a cutie.

About their resemblence, come on, they are all related by blood to themselves much closer than we, common people, are to our cousins. It is the heritage of ages of inbreeding. Look at their ancestry.
Please, submit some photos of Edward VIII, before his accession, during his reign or after his abdication! The most interesting photos I think could be of him as the King and King-Emperor and as the partying Prince of Wales ;-). If the photos were posted earlier, please forgive me and link them here, please.

Now you tell me....
No.. its not that Harry and the pup are both "gingers" but if you look at the expression on Harry's face, its soooo much like his father's!

The way they both use/used their eyes is/was uncanny. Diana's eyes were perhaps one of her best features and were quite remarkable. Reading over this thread years and years later after anyone has posted 'cept me its amazing to me that possibly Diana's DNA could possibly come on down her royal blood line with the eyes thing.
In a previous post, when I needed to know and quick, I googled (pun intended) hanovian blue eyes and I hope you all read the link. :)

Sometimes I do see Diana in Wills but have yet to see it really yet in Harry. with Wills its more how he uses his eyes and facial expressions.
Talking about "eye candy".. that was definitely Philip from his photos as a young lad, through his adulthood and even now as a elderly man. Another man that I think ranked right up there and very very good looking was Andrew Parker-Bowles back then.
