British Royal Family Engagements: 2022 - 2023

If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
These numbers for Edward and Sophie are only since becoming Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh. At the end of the year, when I do the full year report, it will include the full year.

I decided to do it that way to avoid confusion with two Earls of Wessex as James now uses that title and all his engagements (such as there have been) have been using that title.

If something says 'combined' as it does for 'overseas' engagements that is both.

Tim did 150 last year and for all of them he accompanied Anne but this year he has done three 'solo' - where he has officially represented Anne as he did last week.

Tim is not a working royal as he rarely carries out solo events and, of course, he isn't royal.

Has any reason been given for Princess Alexandra's absence so far this year?

Pretty sure it is her health. She was hardly present at the coronation (just for the group picture - and needed to be supported by the Duke of Edinburgh).

She is nearly 87 and although we must admire her dedication to public duties perhaps it is time she rest

Pretty sure it is her health. She was hardly present at the coronation (just for the group picture - and needed to be supported by the Duke of Edinburgh).

She was in the Abbey and sat next to Harry.

She did as much for the Coronation as did her brother - Abbey and Balcony.

Neither attended the concert but then most of the more extended family weren't at that event either including Anne and Tim.

Good points ^^ she did attend the service which wasn't exactly short. Did she arrive at the same door as the other royals? I'm wondering if she has mobility issues and possibly used a side door like HLM did for Philip's memorial service. I'd be surprised if she needed help onto the palace balcony from her Secretary but could walk down the aisle of Westminster Abbey in her RVO robes unaided.

Mobility issues would also explain her lack of public duties - it would be tricky to navigate all but a very few of them, just as we saw with HLM.

We didn't see either the Duke of Kent or Princess Alexandra arrive at the Abbey so I do think they came through a side entrance. However it may also be that the cameras simply didn't pick them up due to other arrivals or events elsewhere.

The last engagement of Princess Alexandra was the Chelsea Flower Show.

She did two engagements earlier in the year 'inside' a palace i.e. attended a reception and had an occasion where she presented some medals to people related to one of her charities.

The fact that she isn't even 'receiving' people in a palace raises issues about her health to me.

There were no official engagements from the 24th December - 31st December, 2023.

I will start to post my summary for each royal as the day goes by. I have decided this year to not include the full list of each royal's patronages, although I have them, but to simply give a number of the patronages or other organisations each one supported. Of course if someone wants to know the list or whether a particular royal supported a specific patronage during the year I will have that information is someone wants that.
