I recall one of our Dutch royal experts mentioning that the Dutch Royal House (those who are the official representatives) that at some point they opted to highlight programs that benefited the entire nation.
I believe that the BRF modeling itself on one of the European models is a real possibility. There will be a distinction between the working members/official representatives and the wider extended family. Also I believe that in the future we might see QEII's grandchildren taking on charities and patronages that have a wider, national focus as opposed to a smaller regional ones.

The grassroots connection is very important.
I feel there would be a big loss to ordinary folk who benefit from royal patronage if BRF were to focus mostly on large scale, popular charities. The danger would be in what to choose and inevitably it could become political.
An extended family of royals offers a range of personalities and skills within the working BRF and is a positive bonus in being able to identify with more people.
Also, having a number of British royals carrying out engagements is simply more interesting.
I hope the BRF can afford to keep visiting small endeavours that relish them.

Weekly Update to 26th April, 2018
An interesting week with a royal birth which was, of course, recorded in the CC. To me though this isnt an official engagement for Kate but more a recording of the growth of the family. If I am to count Kate having babies as official events then going back in time the death and funerals of the Queen Mother, Princess Margaret and Princess Alice would have to be included as they are also recorded. I also dont count having a birthday which for some royals is recorded in the CC (The Queen, Philip, Charles, Camilla, Andrew, Edward, Sophie and Anne only)
A note to those people who think they should shut down BP and do all the repairs in one go there were NINE engagements at BP yesterday across a number of different royals, none of whom was the Queen, who didnt have any engagements yesterday.

Weekly Update to 3rd May, 2018
A quieter week with no engagements for the 28th April.
I have two sources for the CC now and I found it interesting that on one day the British Monarchy’s website and this other source had different information on one day. The British monarchy site didn’t include engagements for Andrew but the other site did. I believe the other site is typing up The Times. Thanks to Princess Larissa for putting me onto that site.

I'm very surprised to see the Duchess of Kent on this list for April as I know she is retired from royal duty. What did she do to get a mention in the CC?

I have to split the post this week as it was 102 characters too long to be in one post - no doubt due to the large number of 'non patronage related' engagements this week.

Royals who have Official Meetings with Politicians to 10th May, 2018
I would like to point out that most of the Heads of Government who visited the UK for CHOGM were officially received by at least one royal and they are recorded here. The overseas meetings are usually with the Head of State and Head of Government, when there are two such positions. Charles has meet the President of Greece, the Prime Minister of Greece and the Leader of the Opposition of Greece during this past week for instance and they are counted as three of his meetings with politicians. I have recorded the names and positions for UK politicians e.g. Prime Minister, Secretary of State for Education.

I dont go looking for these so if I am not given a link I am not able to include any events. The girls may have done more charity type work than this but I havent been told about it, hence the figures as they are.

I have just seen the CC for the 19th April. Interestingly only six members of the BRF officially attended the wedding - The Queen, Philip, Charles, Camilla, William and Harry (and Meghan but she wasn't royal at the beginning of the service).
The rest are lumped together as 'other members of the BRF' including Kate.
So I went back to 2011 and for William and Kate's wedding there is a full list The Duke of York, Princess Beatrice of York, Princess Eugenie of York, The Earl and Countess of Wessex, The Princess Royal and Vice Admiral Timothy Laurence, The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, The Duke and Duchess of Kent, Prince and Princess Michael of Kent, Princess Alexandra, the Hon. Lady Ogilvy, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Phillips, Miss Zara Phillips and Mr. Michael Tindall, Viscount and Viscountess Linley, The Hon. Charles Armstrong-Jones, The Lady Sarah and Mr. Daniel Chatto, Master Samuel Chatto, Master Arthur Chatto, Earl and Countess of Ulster, The Lady Davina and Mr. Gary Lewis, The Lady Rose and Mr. George Gilman, Earl and Countess of St. Andrews, Lord Downpatrick, The Lady Marina-Charlotte Windsor, The Lady Amelia Windsor, The Lord and Lady Nicholas Windsor, The Lady Helen and Mr. Timothy Taylor, The Lord and Lady Frederick Windsor, The Lady Gabriella Windsor, Mr. and Mrs. James Ogilvy, The Lady Saltoun.
That is a clear indication of the difference between the way the two wedding were regarded in official terms.

In a rush so I'll post this here to allow others to comment
https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/201...orking-royals/
The Dukes of Cambridge and Sussex have overtaken their grandmother, the Queen, in a list of busiest members of the Royal family so far this year, as the newlywed Meghan Markle joins the records with a total of one.
Prince William has worked for 33 days on public engagements since the New Year, now working as a full-time members of the Royal family after leaving his job as a search and rescue pilot to further support the Queen.
Prince Harry, who has been planning his wedding, pipped him by one day, with the new Duchess of Sussex listed once, for her own wedding.
The list, compiled by the Press Association from the Court Circular, shows the Queen spending 26 days working in public, in addition to her heavy duties within palace walls
The Princess Royal has once again topped a list, spending 75 days on public engagements, followed by the Earl of Wessex with 59 and the Prince of Wales on 52.
The figures, covering January 1 to May 22
Interesting to see if the always dependable Iluvbertie's figures are similar to these, they look about right from a quick glance.

My figures aren't up to May 22 but they aren't using the CC for their figures for days worked that is clear. Maybe only counting 'public appearances' and not meetings etc behind closed doors.
I have William having worked on 47 days for instance up to 17th May with the Queen on 46 and Harry on 38 and Anne 81. I include every day they do something official - whether in public or not but not things like 'were represented by xxx at a funeral' or 'left the UK for overseas' unless there was some official engagement on arrival such as 'received by the President/GG/Ambassador of yyyy'.
I use the online CC and another source which is based on The Times. There have been times when the online CC hasn't included events listed in The Times CC as well.
I have Charles working on 63 days and Edward on 67.
Again I suspect that they aren't including days when they attend meetings or undertake receiveds behind closed doors and thus they aren't seen in public and so no press coverage possible.

Sorry for the delay this week but the online CC is only up to the 23rd and my other sources hasn't updated since the 20th May.
As soon as either do the 24th I will put up the week for you.
