British Royal Family Engagements 2017

If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
Types of Engagements to 23rd March, 2017

NOTE: If you add up the totals from this section they will invariably be more than the weekly and yearly totals because of the way engagements are described e.g. HM ‘received and invested an individual’ on the 3rd January which is why she has ONE engagement but there are two items listed here. I do NOT count ‘where received by the Lord Lt or someone else when there is more to the engagement unless it is at the start of an official visit overseas e.g. Anne was ‘received by the Deputy Lt of Oxfordshire for her engagement but that was simply a handshake before entering the conference type thing as opposed to a formal start to a tour such as we saw last year when Charles and Camilla visited the Middle East.

Specific Charities or Organisations Supported via an Official Engagement to 23rd March, 2017

It should be noted that the event/s involving a charity/organization may or may not be carried out by the patron, president etc. It should also be noted that sometimes an event is related to two or more charities or organisations and I have recorded all of them here. Both Camilla and Andrew attended such events during this past week.

I have changed ‘Royal Colonel’ to Honourary Military Appointment because Camilla’s engagement this week wasn’t as a ‘Royal Colonel’ but as an Honourary Appointment so I put them all together rather than split them.

Weekly Update to 30th March, 2017

These figures will be still inaccurate as the online CC didn’t update between the 17th – 27th February. Amongst the missing engagements is the reception that most of the royal attended including Eugenie which is why she isn’t yet listed as undertaking an official duty as she hasn’t yet appeared in the CC at all with that engagement missing. I have read elsewhere that there were 95 engagements on these missing days - who knows they may update one day.

Amazingly – after being behind most weeks this week they managed to get the 30th March up by the time I first looked at the website on the morning of the 31st – while it was still the 30th March in the UK. That means that these are as likely as not to be ‘planned engagements’ rather than actual – so there may be an update later but … here goes anyway.

HM The Queen – 59 (59 – no change – 8.5%)
HRH The Duke of Edinburgh – 27 (22 – up 5 – 3.9%)
HRH The Prince of Wales – 116 (96 – up 20 – 16.7%)
HRH The Duchess of Cornwall – 42 (41 – up 1 – 6.1%)
HRH The Duke of Cambridge – 30 (28 – up 2 – 4.3%)
HRH The Duchess of Cambridge – 24 (23 – up 1 – 3.5%)
HRH Prince Henry of Wales – 27 (26 – up 1 – 3.9%)
HRH The Duke of York – 59 (44 – up 15 – 8.5%)
HRH Princess Beatrice – 0 (Unofficial – 2)
HRH Princess Eugenie – 0 (Unofficial – 2)
HRH The Earl of Wessex – 56 (45 – up 11 – 8.1%)
HRH The Countess of Wessex – 41 (37 – up 4 – 5.9%)
HRH The Princess Royal – 115 (105 – up 10 – 16.6%)

Year to Date Total – 693 (612 – up 81)

Comparison with last year – 808-693=115 fewer this year in comparison to last year. NB With no updates from the 17th – 27th February this appears to be out by 95 but that is what they are recording so that is what it is – down 115 to this point of the year compared to how many were done last year. The 95 isn’t my figure but was calculated by someone else so I am not sure how it would stack up to my figures.

Last year the comparison week to this one was Holy Week during which only 5 engagements were carried out by the entire family. The equivalent week this year is two weeks away.

Percentage of Engagements

90s (Elizabeth, Philip) – 12.4%
80s (Edward Kent, Alexandra) – 2.5%

FAILURE of British Monarchy Website to UPDATE CC

The weekly failure of the British Monarchy website: 26th March, 2017

No engagements from earlier in the year: 2nd, 4th, 7th, 14th, 21st, and 28th January, 2017, 11th, 17th, 18th, 19th, 20th, 21st, 22nd, 23rd, 24th, 25th, 26th, 27th February and 19th March, 2017

On the bolded dates we know that around 95 engagements were undertaken from another source but the online CC doesn't think it worthwhile including those engagements for people to know about for some reason.

Weekly Update to 6th April, 2017

These figures will be still inaccurate as the online CC didn’t update between the 17th – 27th February. Amongst the missing engagements is the reception that most of the royal attended including Eugenie which is why she isn’t yet listed as undertaking an official duty as she hasn’t yet appeared in the CC at all with that engagement missing. I have read elsewhere that there were 95 engagements on these missing days - who knows they may update one day.

This week there were a number of royals who undertook engagements overseas – Charles, Camilla, Edward, Anne and Birgitte.

Year to Date Total – 813 (693 – up 120)

Comparison with last year – 836-813=23 fewer this year in comparison to last year. NB With no updates from the 17th – 27th February this appears to be out by 95 but that is what they are recording so that is what it is – down 23 to this point of the year compared to how many were done last year. The 95 isn’t my figure but was calculated by someone else so I am not sure how it would stack up to my figures.

This difference includes the downturn in engagements over the Easter period which was completed by this time last year and is the next two weeks this year.

Types of Engagements to 6th April, 2017

Specific Charities or Organisations Supported via an Official Engagement to 6th April, 2017 – Part A

Princess Eugenie attended a UN Trustfund End Violence Against Women conference in New York City on March 10th (I thought this and the celebration at the consulate she attended in NYC as well were the same event)

Princess Beatrice attended a WeDay event in NYC on April 6th.

Do you have a link for Eugenie's event? I can't find anything about it.

I have to be careful as some people would like to add 'false' information for the fun of it so I only include events to which I am given a reliable link for the York girls.

Please note = I am not accusing anyone here but I am trying to be accurate and so by asking for a link for the girls' events I hope to be more accurate in reporting their events.

If anyone therefore does want me to include an event for the York girls please include a link to a reliable source - their own twitter accounts is fine.

Thanks for that.

For anyone who wants to let me know about unofficial engagements for the York girls please feel free to do so using PM if you don't want to do in in the open forum.

Duchesschicana has often posted Beatrice's events in her thread which I use to record Beatrice's events.

No one usually does the same thing for Eugenie.

The dates highlighted are the dates missing on which about 95 engagements occurred which I am unable to count. It is ridiculous in this day and age that the print media are able to have information but not the online version. Shows a total disregard for people who wish to know what the royals do in the other realms in particular.

Specific Charities or Organisations Supported via an Official Engagement to 13th April, 2017 – Part A

I know the British Monarchy website is a very poor one these days but this takes the cake.

18 May 2017
Prince Harry, The Duke of Cambridge

will present The Diana Award's Inaugural Legacy Award at St. James's Palace

If they can't get Harry and William's names and titles correct what hope have the rest of the world?

I searched for upcoming events for William and that is what came up. It also comes up if a search is done for Harry.

So who is going - Harry or the Duke of Cambridge - don't ask the British Monarchy website as they don't even know the difference.

:previous: :ROFLMAO:

Whomever was in charge of posting that blooper seriously needs to focus on what they're supposed to be doing. Actually, I find it quite inexcusable. I wonder how long its going to be before someone actually spots the mistake. :D+

My guess is that they meant Prince Harry and The Duke of Cambridge.
