It was the confectionary counter that Camilla and Kate were visiting on my middle picture above. Those were sweets they were eating, Kate was eating them too, Sky News just showed video of it.

Camilla and Kate seem to really get along very well. It was very good of her to sort of chaperone Kate today when needed. I'm sure William especially will be very grateful.

I agree, Camilla and Kate appear to get along famously. In fact, all three ladies appeared to rather enjoy each other's company; it was really nice to see the three generations so relaxed and comfortable together. :)

Kate did seem a little hesitant perhaps and slightly nervous. This is to be expected given I'm sure Kate doesn't know the Queen very well yet. I'm sure there are people who have known the Queen for many years who never forget that she's always the Queen. I can just imagine her thinking 'please let me get through this without putting my foot in it in front of the Queen!'.

I'm sure Camilla was nervous too, but she's got almost 7 years experience of these kinds of events so she seemed more relaxed.

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to the thread :flowers:! EIIR, I love your captions. Very spot-on.

I really did enjoy seeing all three women doing one engagement. They appear to get along wonderfully and work well together. Catherine did stick by Camila, and that may be because she just feels a little more comfortable with her than with Her Majesty (at least during an engagement). I can understand that, because if I were in her shoes, I would feel a bit intimidated too. The pastries and confections looked absolutely delightful (I have a sweet tooth, so I can definitely appreciate good desert :D). Like Catherine, I'm a chocoholic . Loved the hampers :D, and it's so nice that the four-legged family members get some treats too.

Some more videos and an article for your viewing/reading pleasure that I found on my twitter:

Thank you all for the updates and links!! :flowers: The three ladies look lovely and particularly close to one another, like true family members!! It has been a delight to see them like that!

I had to laugh a bit when I heard about the part that Catherine on entering the Bentley at the end was "shown her place" because she had to sit backwards on a fold-out seat... My, not only was she in the presence of the current and the future queen but she travelled with two elder relatives. So she would sit there in any case out of sheer politeness....

Yeah, you're absolutely right. And the Queen looks better than the rest of the girls!!!

1. Queen looked relaxed.
2. Camilla looked relaxed .... in my opinion Camilla's hair looked a mess. It needs a good cut to give it some shape.
3. Catherine looked relaxed and poised --- taken to duties like a duck to water. I think she prefers to do solo engagements where she has more control over the event. I think with Catherine its one's company --- two's a crowd.

No guessing for who will take centre state on HELLO COVER next week. It should be the Queen but I bet it won't!

The current Yes, but Not the future Queen. Camilla wont be the Queen of GB.

That is an assumption but only time will tell. The moment Charles accends the throne Camilla automatically becomes HM Queen Camilla as his wife.

Not to distract from the topic of the thread, but Camilla will become Queen Consort of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland the moment Prince Charles ascends to the Throne. There isn't really a choice; the wife of the King is automatically a Queen. Camilla can only be deprived of the title is all sixteen Commonwealth Realms pass Acts of Parliaments to that effect - and I cannot see that happening.

Perhaps Camilla will chose to be known as The Princess Consort (in which case she would have to be granted the title in her own right), but legally she will be Queen.

I do not think so. Camilla is not Princess of Wales, and i remember when she wed PC the specialists said that it was a kind of morganatic marriage. Upper than this but not giving the full titles. Like that Pr. Philip is not the King of GB but the Queens husband. A Prince, not a King.
I mean, QEII mother was fully a Queen. But Camilla will be less. I do not know the official title but it will be less.

There's a thread about this, so I won't go on about it, but you should read it- there's no morganatic marriage in Britain, and Camilla is in fact Princess of Wales, she just chooses to use one of Charles' other titles.

Thanks. I will have a look.

Camilla IS the Princess of Wales, as she is the wife of the Prince of Wales. She chooses to be publicly styled as the Duchess of Cornwall, but that doesn't take away from any titles she legally possesses, which are all of Charles's. As the wife of the King, unless Letters Patent or a bill in Parliament say otherwise, she will be HM Queen Camilla when Charles ascends the throne.

As for Prince Philip, men do not take their styles/titles from their wives, so naturally the Duke of Edinburgh is not the King. That's not how titles and styles work. The two situations aren't even remotely comparable.

Camilla became The Princess of Wales the moment she married Prince Charles; as his wife, she shares all of Charles's styles and titles. Camilla chose not to use that particular title out of respect for the late Diana, Princess of Wales. However, while she goes by her second most important title - the Duchess of Cornwall, Camilla is legally The Princess of Wales as well.

Prince Philip is not King because male consorts of Queens Regnant are never Kings unless they hold the title in their own right.
Prince Albert (Queen Victoria's husband) wasn't a King, and neither was Prince George of Denmark (Queen Anne's husband).
William III (Mary II's husband) and Philip II of Spain (Mary I's husband) were Kings of England; however, in case of William III that was because he and his wife were co-regnant Monarchs, and in case of Philip II, Acts of Parliament granted him the title for the duration of his marriage to Queen Mary.

Elizabeth II's mother was not "fully" a Queen, she was a Queen Consort - wife of the King. There is a difference between a Queen Consort (Monarch's wife) and a Queen Regnant (a Monarch in her own right); the late Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother was a Queen Consort, whereas her daughter, Elizabeth II, is a Queen Regnant.

Camilla will be Queen Consort as wife of King Charles III (or whatever his regnal name is), just as Kate will be William's Queen Consort.

Thanks to those who posted pics last night and kept everyone updated after I left. Bloody time difference left me no choice.

Camilla's title has been discussed in GREAT DETAIL in various British threads. It has also been explained perfectly by some members in this very thread.

For those who still wish to discuss it or don't completely understand how she is fact both The Duchess of Cornwall and The Princess of Wales (but is known formally by the Cornwall title), please feel free to visit http://www.theroyalforums.com/forums/f23/questions-about-styles-and-titles-258-57.html .

We won't go into greater detail in this thread.

Thanks!

These pics remind me of Christmas at Skeldale House, on the show All Creatures Great and Small, where Tricky- Woo, Mrs. Pumphrey's spoiled Pekingese would send the vets F&M hampers for Christmas!;)
You'll have to watch the show to understand....;)

I'm with you. Obviously a Pekingese with great taste, you can't get better than A Fortnum and Mason hamper.

I laughed at the part where the boss of F&M mentioned to the Queen that they had put some dog biscuits in the hampers. Apparently the Queen's eyes lit up and she started digging into the hamper looking for them. Camilla and Kate apparently followed suit.

Damn watching all those videos made me want some sweets haha how lucky was The Queen, Camilla and Catherine to get to try all those tasty treats

Oh my goodness :ROFLMAO:  :D! How funny were those moments? Truly priceless, especially when Siegfried and Tristan would beg James to go and do all those visits to Mrs. Pumphrey, so they could get some goodies.

Judging by the expression of the Queen's, Kate's and Camilla's faces, either Kate or Camilla got something really nice - and the other two didn't! :D

Yes, Her Majesty does look a little put out .

That was very funny. I bet the Corgis and Lupo were in doggy heaven later in the day :D.

I had that reaction too! Goodness, now the chocolate pudding in my fridge is not cutting it :D.

There was a point in one of the videos when Kate was hanging so far back as they were departing that Camilla had to look around for her. I guess Kate may have been a bit overwhelmed being in HM's company and mindful of the protocol, but when she and Camilla were tasting the sweets they were very relaxed and chatting away.

You know you're in Fortnum and Mason when one of the staff mention that you should try putting one of the candied rose petals you've just tried into some champagne!

I think Kate was, understandably, a bit nervous. She was very careful to be respectful not only to the Queen, but to Camilla as well i.e making sure to walk behind her, letting Camilla stand closest to the Queen, letting Camilla get into the car first. It was nice to see.

Next week's away day in Leicester with HMQ and the DoE will be interesting! I'm sure she has butterflies in her tummy.
