What an adorable choice of Christmas card. I did love the images of Charles holding Eliza to allow her to see the crowds from the balcony. It was so grandfatherly.

Will we see everyone elses Christmas cards? Seeing all the previous Christmas cards from the Queen was lovely, especially the one with her eldest grandchildren. Delightful.

Maybe this is the only time of the year the Queen can get to see her family all gather together, although I have to admit the rigid routine and living by a gong would probably be more than I could take! But I suppose HM figures she may not have too many Christmases left, either, so the family time might be more paramount now.

A royal Christmas at sandringham sounds nice and is it only her children and grandchildren? Plus or excluding Peter and zara? So no kents or ogilvys....?

Definitely Peter and Zara will have been invited...no Kents, Gloucesters, or Ogilvys....but I believe the Linleys and Chattos are invited, too.

Have we heard when the greater family celebration will be. I know it's usually a lunch the week or so prior to Christmas.

Don't quote me on this, but I remember reading somewhere that Linleys and Chattos come for Christmas and Sandringham every other year. They were not there last year, so we may very well see them this Christmas.

That makes sense and gives them time to spend Christmas with the spouse's side of the family...or alone for that matter.

Regarding the question about the family lunch at Buckingham Palace, my guess is for early next week especially since we know that William, Catherine & Harry will be in town for other engagements.

Have a...Spooky and Haunted Christmas (though I won't rule out the possibility of something like that considering this is a rather old estate [and a friend of mine has seen enough 'Ghost Hunters' and 'Ghost Adventures' episodes dealing with haunted old English/Scottish mansions and castles to make me doubt it less and less])

Catherine will not shoot during the Boxing Day hunt. Some say it's because of animal rights, others say that it's simply a tradition for women to not participate in the shooting itself.

It would actually surprise me if there weren't a ghost or two given the history of Sandringham or any other old residence in Britain. I've taken a tour or two at haunted residences in my own area and you really have to address that with an open mind, given the experiences of many an eyewitness to haunted happenings!

Hmm, so which is it? Whatever the reason, it works out well for Kate for now. But if she intends to shoot at another occasion, she won't be able to avoid the issue or the protestors.

Tradition is most likely as she's shot before with the royals. HM, Anne nor Sophie have ever participated in the shoot.

I can't see it being because of concern about interest groups or protesters given that other members of the royal family, including very high profile ones like William, are going to continue shooting. I hope it's not, anyway. I think there's being informed and sensitive to different perspectives, which is good, and then there's pandering to whatever group is shouting the loudest at the moment, which would make for a very difficult life.

It's going to be a very spooky Christmas then! I wonder if William or Harry have experienced any of the ghost sightings... I don't think I'd be able to sleep!

Me either. I have a friend who has done her share of ghost-hunting at a primary school where her sister works. She told me that the school is built on the grounds of a Civil War battle field in Georgia. Apparently, the school is haunted, and there have been several sightings of ghosts by children, and staff alike. She herself has experienced a few things there. That was enough to send chills running down my spine. I cannot imagine being in a house that is most likely haunted (not to mention being a guest of the Royals for the first time) and not feeling on edge. I give Catherine a great amount of credit for this. Hopefully nothing cringe-worthy will occur.

I'm sure Kate would not be described as a bundle of nerves, but given that it might be a teensy bit stressful for her first visit at Sandringham in the Queen's company, the last thing she needs is to run into a ghost or two. That might tax the nerves a bit!!

Indeed! A little too much stress is never a good thing.
