The king has bought additional land on Öland and expanded his already large territory around Solliden Palace. Svensk Damtidning quotes Ölandsbladet's paywall article.
From Lantmäteriet's documents can be seen that the king has bought 22,718 square meters land from a neighbor, located 700 meters southwest of the palace.
The purchase was made during the first quarter of this year and the king paid SEK 685,000.
- A neighbor asked if the king wanted to buy this land, an area that is about 30 meters wide and extends along Solliden's southern border, says Margareta Thorgren.
It was speculated whether the king intends to have additional houses built on Solliden for Madeleine and Carl Philip and their families.
Margareta Thorgren denied the rumors of possible construction plans on the land in question:
- No, no changes will be made. This land will remain a natural area and be used as grazing land.

Solliden Palace opens the gates for the season in connection with Öland Spirar already on Wednesday 12 May.
The big news for the year is the unique Open Air exhibition that the glass artist Bertil Vallien is showing in the English Park.
- This will really be something out of the ordinary. Large glass sculptures displayed in a nature gallery with the sky as a roof, says Pernilla Klintberg.
During Öland Spirar weekend, it is possible to visit Solliden's greenhouse in small groups. There will be a Spirar menu at Kaffetorpet and in Royal Gifts Shop plants are sold, including agave from the greenhouse and Geranium Estelle, new for the season.
In order for everyone to feel safe, Solliden has taken a number of measures. Inside the park there is plenty of space and it's easy to keep your distance. At the entrance, at toilets and at Kaffetorpet, the flows have been adjusted so that congestion doesn't occur. There is also hand alcohol in several places and guides are adapted so that both restrictions and distances can be kept.
