In my perspective the royal family seems to spend quite a lot of time together - especially compared to other families. I know very few families where three generations would yearly spend (several?) weeks of vacation together next to seeing each other once in while either for work or other private activities.

Or is it common for Scandinavian families to do so? And do the royals truly spend a lot less time with each other than the average family would do?

Just my opinion, but I think they spend more as they both love and trust them, even better they can relax and totally be themselves.

Friends and staff can often be indiscreet or just plain greedy.

The Royal family do spend a lot of time away from their children on long trips both domestically and abroad and have several nights a week when they're not at home for bedtime. This is something that both Crown Princess Victoria, Princess Madeleine & their parents have spoken about as putting much emotional strain on the family and all of them have mentioned how it affected Madeleine in particular.
Naturally many others spend a lot of nights and weekends away from their families working. Especially those in healthcare that often work every second weekends and have early mornings and late nights. I'm sure they'd like the opportunity to spend a few weeks together as a family each year.

Photos from Solliden on 11th and 14th August. The flag is flown, so the king or/and the crown princess have been at Solliden.

Sveriges Möbelindustriförbundet (The Furniture Industry Federation) gave in 1976 as wedding gift to king Carl Gustaf and queen Silvia a room "Det svenska rummet". They could choose where the room was made, and they chose Solliden. In fact, two rooms were decorated: a green room and a blue room, connected without a door. And in August 1977 everything was ready.

The irrigation at Solliden takes place with collected rainwater. For more than 30 years, we have had irrigation ponds on Solliden, where we collect water during rain and when snow melts. From the ponds that are located in the forest inside the private area, pipes then go out to a number of different water posts out in the park. In this way, we have access to our own water to water with every summer.

Now we have just received this year's first apple juice in the Gift Shop. The must is made from apples from the Palace park.

The Autumn finale at the Palace Park
24 Sep at 11:00 → 27 Sep at 16:00
Welcome to a wonderful autumn finale in the Palace Park here on Solliden. There will be special guided tours, invited guests, sales of fruit and vegetables from the park, autumn menu and freshly baked at Kaffetorpet and much more. We will shortly present a complete program. We will also keep the exhibition "Royal Summers - a photo exhibition about Carl XVI Gustaf's life at Solliden" open and have daily guided tours.
