Yes I was thinking along those lines too!

More updates as to what we can look forward to

I'm glad they are "exploring" Penny and Philip's relationship. I really do think it was more than just a platonic relationship.

It's doubtful they're going to "explore" anything. They had plenty of opportunities in the first two seasons and ended up delicately pirouetting around the subject of any and all Philip's relationships with women, while at the same time ham-fistedly insisting as a teenager he was somehow responsible for the death of his sister, the latter all for the sake of making a cheap fictional parallel.

The Crown doesn't really do a lot with that much novelty or insight.

Natascha McElhone is an interesting cast choice for Penny Knatchbull and I also like her as an actress.

I was excited whether they would include this "storyline" or not.

Actually, I don't believe it went beyond an intimate, platonic relationship. Nor do I believe that the Queen's relationship with "Porchie" was anything more than an intimate, platonic relationship. It's very possible for people of the opposite sex to have best friends and share common interests with each other without that mischievous Eros getting into the works.

A lot was made of this by the press before - and the Knatchbulls themselves noted that Philip saw her as a daughter. Apparently Philip even commented that if her relationship failed with Norton - he had two sons she might have a look at.
Also have a look at how Charles, Edward, Andrew and Anne treat her - she is seen as an equal. She is considered a sibling. Romantic relationship I doubt it.

It can only be speculation presented as fact, which in my opinion is dangerous.

I agree as sadly many people watching will somehow believe its factual and I cannot believe the amount of times I've told people that the Crown is 'loosely' based on events and must be taken with a pinch of salt!

I went through the new cast with a friend and she was horrified how little 80% of the cast actors resemble the actual persons.

I must say, especially "Andrew" and "Edward" have been a little shock for me, too. I'm not convinced from "Anne" at the moment, but I have to see her while acting.

As for Jonathan Pryce as Prince Philip... mh. I had my problems with all Philips before and could only see their previous roles and I think it will not be different now. Hello, Juan Perón on a carriage. Sorry!

Answering my own question, the latest Mirror article seems to imply it's another Fleabag actor, Andrew Scott.

Yes I read that around Easter saying he was being linked to the role of Tony Blair but nothing confirmed.

I guess we will have to wait and see!
