Thanks Dman. It should be an interesting commentary, including some insights from the BRF's newest member. Looking forward to it.

Interesting! That is a nice surprise. So Harry, Meghan, Charles, William, Anne, and Sophie were interviewed.

The documentary seems like it will focus on the commonwealth and the Queen’s passion for it, Harry has been given a big role in the Commonwealth going forward and Meghan even mentioned doing work w/ it in the engagement interview, so my guess is that’s what she’ll talk about and perhaps how much guidance the Queen has given her re: the commonwealth.

Well, no one saw that coming this soon.
Harry has said that Meghan will work with him as part of his role as Commonwealth Youth Ambassador. SHes certainly been a big hit with the youth leaders she’s met so far.

I'm looking forward to the documentary. It definitely is shaping up to be a busy fall for the royals. It says this has been in production for over a year. Meghan likely was a recently addition but I am glad she is being included in these specials now.

I'm excited for this documentary. If it's been a year in making, it's going to be quite detailed and thorough.

Despite what you might see reported this morning, I should caution that Meghan, Duchess of Sussex has not given a 'major interview' to @ITV. There *is* a documentary about @commonwealthsec called 'The Queen of the World'. Meghan speaks in it but it's not a 'major interview'...

Love that people panic at seeing the Queen, even family members! The documentary sounds interesting, especially as it is Commonwealth oriented. Looking forward to seeing it when it comes on TV here in Oz or on YouTube. It will also be good to see Meghan's input. I don't think people did think she was giving an interview, did they? That would be very odd in the middle of a doco about the Queen and her Commonwealth.

"Queen of the World" also debuts on HBO on the 1st October. Channel 7 have picked up the rights in Australia, but no air date has been announced yet.

They would probably show it after Eugenie's wedding and before Harry lands for Invictus games - maybe on the Sunday night.

Here is a bit more information about this documentary/book:
Written and produced by Robert Hardman, who is behind the 2012 book ''Our Queen,'' and many previous BBC/ITV documentaries about HM. - He has also provided commentary during BBC's broadcasts for the Queen's Golden/Diamond Jubilees, her 80/90th Birthdays, the Royal Weddings 2011/2018 and regularly during the trooping.
Queen of the World - ITV
Quote:
This new two-part ITV series offers a unique insight into Her Majesty The Queen’s role as a figure on the global stage and the baton she is passing to the younger members of the Royal Family as they continue to build the Commonwealth connection.
Filmed over more than a year with privileged access to The Queen, her family, her staff and her residences, this landmark series tells the story of how the Commonwealth has been a central focus and passion throughout Her Majesty’s life.
|
Articles from Robert Hardman:
What really happens behind palace doors! The day the Queen hid in a bush to avoid Romania’s murderous dictator - and rescued her corgis from a tyrant's smuggled mutt... as revealed in Robert Hardman's new book. - DM
What a yacht of fun one had! The day the Queen fitted a bra to her shirtless equerry - and why Philip and Anne were thrown overboard... as revealed in ROBERT HARDMAN's new book. - DM
'Och, my wee small girl's getting spoiled!' The unvarnished advice offered to the Queen by her close confidante, a Scottish farm daughter nicknamed 'The QE3' ...as revealed in ROBERT HARDMAN's new book. - DM
The REAL First Lady: Overly familiar presidents, blundering US officials and squabbling Hollywood stars – but, as the final extract from ROBERT HARDMAN'S book reveals, the Queen's deft diplomacy has kept THAT relationship special. - DM
A world of one's own: Robert Hardman tells his behind-the-scenes stories from a stunning new documentary on the Queen’s personal mission to fulfil her father’s Commonwealth dream. - DM
Haven't had the time to do it myself yet, but it's Hardman, so they're probably worth a read, even though we've probably heard most of it before.

Promo for the "Queen of the World" special. Meghan looking at her dress and saying that "53 countries will keep her and Harry busy." Looks like a great documentary with a lot of footage. I love when HMQ gets cheeky.

There is some misinformation going around that we will see Meghan's reaction to seeing her wedding dress for the first time (the fact that Meghan is wearing the same dress in the documentary that she wore the day before her wedding is probably adding to the confusion).
https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/201...t-grandmother/
This above article states:
"During the show The Duchess of Sussex is reunited with her wedding gown and veil for the first time since her wedding day as Royal Collection specialists prepare the dress for a new exhibition"
So it will not be her first time seeing her completed wedding dress but the first time she sees it since the wedding.

Saw a quick trailer for the programme in which it said the Queen was starting to hand down to the next generation – but there were only pictures of the Sussexes and Prince William – while the REAL next generation, Prince Charles, was nowhere in sight...
