Global Child Forum 2020 on October 8th is postponed.

After careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to postpone the Global Child Forum 2020, originally due to be held in Stockholm on October 8th.
While we do hope that by October the current uncertainties around the spread and risk of COVID-19 will have abated, we feel that given the current state of uncertainty, it is prudent for us to postpone our Forum until 2021. We hope to share with you a new date for the Forum as soon as possible.

King Carl Gustaf and queen Silvia had today a digital meeting with Global Child Forum's Secretary General Cajsa Wiking and Chairperson Anette Brodin Rampe.

On Wednesday 23 September, the King and Queen, the Crown Princess and Princess Sofia participated in a meeting with the Global Child Forum and their partners.
The Global Child Forum was initiated by the Royal Family in 2009 and is an independent platform that brings together world-leading stakeholders for in-depth dialogue and increased knowledge about children's rights. This year's partner day was attended by the King, Queen, Crown Princess (via link) and Princess Sofia.
The King began Wednesday's meeting with a welcome speech:
"It was in March last year that we held our last meeting of the Partner Advisory Board. Since then, a lot has changed. The Covid-19 pandemic has affected us all - but not least the children of the world.
The corona virus and its effects hit hard on their security and well-being. Therefore, it feels particularly important that we can hold this meeting today. So that the Global Child Forum can continue its important work, together with you, for the protection and support of children's rights by all sections of society. "
The Partner Day ended with the Queen giving a speech.

Queen Silvia said at her speech among other things:
The Global Child Forum has also entered into a partnership with the World Benchmarking Alliance and will work with them to better influence companies to prioritize work for children's rights.
This is also a stone that creates rings on the water.
This autumn, the Global Child Forum will hold four digital Action Labs on various themes, with presentations of a number of good corporate initiatives.
Four more stones.
And our meeting here today - our exchange of ideas - is another rock, which hopefully can also create rings on the water.
Dear partners. Your work, and your collaborations, make a difference for children around the world. Thank you for your commitment - and thank you again for being with us today!

It was child rights issues that were on the agenda, and the royal couple had gathered a core squad from their Global Child Forum.
- If the coronavirus has taught us anything, it is that our world today is completely interconnected, the queen said.
- A virus in Wuhan could force a child in Ethiopia to leave school. An incomplete purchase order from a seller in Sweden can force a child in Bangladesh to work.
At her side sat Princess Sofia. But where was Crown Princess Victoria? She was missing from the Bernadotte Library - and it turned out that she was stopped for security reasons.
- Considering the pandemic, the Crown Princess was present via a video link, says Ulrika Näsholm at the court's information department.
This is to protect both her and the king - and the Swedish monarchy. The court cannot risk that both the king and his heir to the throne would become ill at the same time.

On Thursday, October 8, the King participated in a digital meeting with the Global Child Forum.
Today's meeting was the first of four digital Action Labs organized by the Global Child Forum during the autumn.
The theme of today's discussions was the benefits for companies of engaging in children's rights.
The king opened the forum and said in his speech, among other things:
"As we all know, business is a driver of both economic and social change. Regardless of sector, companies have an enormous impact on children's lives - and that power comes with a great responsibility.
Ladies and gentlemen: Your presence here today is important. Because to support one child, is the first step to supporting an entire generation."

Finnish newspaper Hufvudstadsbladet wrote yesterday about the Global Child Forum
The Royal Foundation has investigated how companies take children's rights into account - many are careless
- According to Unicef, there were 160 million children who worked at the beginning of 2020. Covid has increased that by 9 million, says Queen Silvia during the Global Child Forum. It has investigated the biggest brands in the grocery trade and the companies' results are not particularly flattering.
Global Child Forum is the Swedish Royal House's Foundation and a forum for children's rights issues that was founded in 2009. In order to get a picture of how well business considers children's rights, comparisons are made - key figure measurements - with a number of indicators such as surroundings and environmental issues.
