Queen Silvia attends on Thursday at the Global Child Forum in Dubai at the United Arab Emirates. It is a satellite forum for the Global Child Forum (former World Child & Youth Forum) held every year at the Royal Palace in Stockholm, Sweden. The meeting brings together leaders from large and small international corporations, financial institutions, the UN and NGOs, government representatives, academia, selected experts and journalists, to discuss some of the most pressing issues facing children of the world. Global Child Forum was initiated by H.M. the King and H.M. the Queen of Sweden in 2009. The Global Child Forum is a Swedish non-profit foundation with headquarters in Stockholm.

Wow, Queen Silvia looks wonderful in Wednesday's photos.

The King, Queen, CP Victoria and Sofia will attend Global Child Forum partnership day on April 14'th. The event takes place at the Royal castle, all according to the current events calendar on the Courts website.

Interesting combination of participants, IMO :)

The king, queen, crown princess Victoria and Sofia Hellqvist attended today at the Global Child Forum Partners' Day at the Royal Palace. The organisation's corporate and expert partners took part in the meeting. The day began with a discussion about the previous year's results, the objectives for the year and future plans. There then followed discussions on how children's rights can be integrated into businesses' core operations, values and strategies.

What is Sofia doing there? I find this so odd, that a fiancee is being treated as if she was already married to CP and a member of the SRF.

Well, it's important to hit the ground running in getting prepared for her new life as Carl Philip's wife and a member of the royal family. We've seen this before with the new British senior royals. Sofia's attendance at royal events is telling us that she's not only busy planning a wedding, but she's in the process of leaning about her upcoming role.

I wish Daniel would have been given the same support and attention of the family when he was a boyfriend and fiancee.

I believe he received an apprenticeship when he became Victoria's fiancee.

Sofia's visit to South Africa for Global Child Forum: 8 September 2015

according to the royal calendar Sofia will go to South Africa for Global Child Forum: 8 September 2015.

Thanks, Carlota. :flowers:

I look forward to this.
A nice comfy start for Sofia and she should be very unlucky indeed if this won't be a success. And a success is always a good start.

I wonder if Prince CP will go with her for support or whether he will leave her to enjoy the spotlight on her own? With her experience over the years I don't doubt she can handle it successfully but IMO it would be nice for him to go if his commitments allow.

Carl Philip has a work event with the king on 7th September and the flight times from Stockholm to South Africa are rather long, so it doesn't seem likely that Carl Philip can go to South Africa. Carl Philip has also STCC races on 10-11th September and he has to prepare to them.

The Global Child Forum website has some pictures of a board meeting in April 2014 with the King,Queen, CPV and Sofia. So Princess Sofia has been 'getting her feet wet' for awhile now. I must say she looks very comfortable in that setting.

Princess Maggie, sorry that should be April 2015 for the photos on the Global Child Forum website.

Johan T Lindwall has travelled to Pretoria and Sofia has talked to him. Sofia is going to stay in South Africa for some days and visit Project Playground in Cape Town too.

I'm surprised (and glad) that the court is sending Sofia alone on these kind of jobs so soon after the marriage. It's sort of familiar territory for her since she's been involved in Project Playground, but she has a new role to handle as well. It's clear that the king trusts her.

Blurbs from Swedish Monarchy and http://bernadottewindsor.tumblr.com/:
I have spent over five years in this beautiful country and working with children. And the years before that in other countries. I’ve seen fair share of suffering and poverty. But I have also seen children’s eyes light up when they have had the opportunity to shape their own lives.
— Princess Sofia during her speech at the Global Child Forum.

Every time a child is suffering, we have a responsibility to make a difference
— Princess Sofia

Despite the daily reports on disasters around the world, I think that at the same time so much good is already done. I think it is important to mention that we are on the right path. Democracy is spreading and poverty is reducing.
— Princess Sofia at the Global Child Forum in South Africa

As long as children suffer, we have work to do.
— Princess Sofia at the Global Child Forum

And I will end my speech with a question to all of you: What action can you do as a professional and as a person to make a positive impact on a child’s life.
— Princess Sofia at the Global Child Forum
I don't think this was part of her speech but a comment about the refugee crisis.
I think that everybody can contribute in their own way and do something. I have a great belief that every individual can make a difference and help a fellow human being. If so, start by ensuring that those who come to Sweden, get the help that they need to contribute money to organizations that are actually in place and make a difference and do something about it. The main thing is that we do something.
— Princess Sofia on the refugee crisis.
