The Nobel Prize 2013 - 2023

If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
As far as I know, no one has heard him speak a word in Swedish since that.

From previous interviews with the couple, he delivered his (private) wedding speech in Swedish and afterwards continued taking Swedish lessons.

When does the ceremony start? (Sweden time is fine)

The director of the press department, Margareta Thorgren says that the king's decision about the seating order at the prize ceremony is based on that the Nobel Prize winners should be the focus. Not the royal family.
Previous years the viewers have become accustomed to see the royal family members up on stage at the Concert Hall at the prize ceremony. We have usually seen Prince Carl Philip and Princess Madeleine at the blue Nobel carpet behind the royal couple.
But this year it is different, for the first time several members of the family sit down there in the audience. Not on the stage. This year it is special when both Prince Carl Philip's future wife Sofia Hellqvist is invited and even Princess Madeleine's husband Chris O'Neill makes his debute.
Now it would suddenly be four couples, eight people, up in the royal chairs on the stage and the court and the king, in consultation with the Nobel Foundation think that it is too many people.
- Yes, it would simply be too many and that is why this decision has been made. Now it will be the head of state, the queen, the heir to the throne and the prince who represent the royal family and the family at the ceremony. Everyone feels that it is important that the prize winners are in the focus, says Margareta Thorgren.
Those who had expected to see Sofia Hellqvist with the royal family on stage?
- There will be several occasions during the evening. Everyone in the family is located at the Table of Honor at the dinner, says Thorgren.

So according to this it seems that this is the permanent seating order from now on. Very good decision.

According to Expressen's live feed, 1570 guests are attending at the prize ceremony at the Concert Hall, and about 1300 at the banquet.

It is great that Victoria finally wears the Baden Fringe Tiara again. And she has the big diamond cross. I hoped for a suprise at the jewellery and the cross is that. The queen in sapphires is always a lovely sight. I'm glad that Sofia had enough sense and doesn't wear a tiara, if that rumour is true.

^^^^^^ i agree very good decision, the evening *should* be about the laureates imo

Btw: The Swedish time corresponds with the time used on the TRF website. So everyone oversees can use forum time as a guideline.

I'm glad that they gave an explanation for the new seating arrangement. It is understandable that the ceremony should be about the laureates. But still I hope that the camera will from time to time swivel to the front row for some nice close-ups of the family members seated there.

A very good decision and it makes perfectly sense. And as bonus we get an answer to how things are decided between the Court and the Nobel Foundation.

I was a bit surprised, but I agree as well - and I am sure, the Camera will spot the first row as well......

I assume, the first row will sit already, when the RC will come in? or will they also have an "entrance" - only before the RC at the stage?

Some of the first rumors of the day say that Prince Carl Philip may have actually bought fiance Sofia Hellqvist a tiara for this evening

Now I'm really curious if that rumour is true! A new tiara as wedding present makes more sense, imo. So I guess it's just that, a rumour.

Yes, I wrote that to the General news of Carl Philip and Sofia thread. Svensk Damtidning has on the cover of this week's issue "Sofia's secret 30th birthday present", and someone who has read the magazine already, commented that Carl Philip gave Sofia a diadem as a birthday present.

The stage is ready.

Oh...it looks so ridiculous with the chairs placed liked that. There is plenty of space on that part of the stage. And it is very strange to place the Crown Princess on the second row, that is the first time ever.

I just thought that it is good that there is only 4 chairs, 8 chairs wouldn't in any case have enough space. It is much better that Victoria sits on the second row together with Daniel than during the last years when Daniel sat behind her. The king has stressed in his interviews lately that he is not going to abdicate, so perhaps he wants to stress it too with this seating order, he is the head of the state.

Oh, how lovely.
The Queen with her Sapphires and a turquise gown. Victoria in a striking red ballgown with her Fringe Tiara and the Diamond Necklace with the large cross!
Madde with her Modern Fringe Tiara, no Tiara for Sofia.

The Nobel Prize 2014

Silvia with the Leuchtenberg Sapphire Parure and Victoria with the Baden Fringe Tiara and a Diamond collier with the huge diamond cross usually worn by her mother. She's also wearing a ruby brosch usually worn by her mother.

Madeleine is wearing the Modern Fringe Tiara with eaarings and brosch from the amethyst parure.

Princess Christina is wearing the 6 Button Tiara and a diamond collier.

Sofia is not wearing a tiara as expected. She's wearing a pink (or purpur) gown with matching earrings.

Dislike Victoria & Sofia's dresses, but their hair & jewels seem to be on point.

So much for the rumour that Sofia received a tiara for this event:whistling:. Obviously not.

I'm a bit disappointed that Princess Madeleine chose her stand tiara, the modern fringe. It's nice, but she wears it all the time. The same goes for Princess Christina and the six-buttons. It suits her (and she's currently the only family member who wears it well, imo), but she wears it all the time.

Good to see the Queen with the sapphires again. And I'm particularly glad that CP Victoria finally wears the fringe tiara again!!!

Victoria has also a brooch on her hair

Svensk Damtidning wrote that Sofia got a tiara as her 30th birthday present from Carl Philip. She could have got it but was enough wise not to wear it before she really is married with Carl Philip. Maybe she got the tiara and we will see it on her wedding day.

Nice to see May-Britt and Edvard Moser from Norway accepting the Nobel Prize in Medicine together with John O'Keefe from King Carl XVI Gustaf.

I think the modern fringe tiara will become Madeleine's standard tiara as Pricness Christina used to wear her own diamond tiara.
Think the Queen and Victoria looked really good. I only wished the Queen would have worn something different then the sapphire. It becomes a bit boring now when she always wears either the sapphires or the nine pronge tiara to Nobel.
