The nice and fun welcome speech by count Björn Bernadotte, where he tells that he is the little brother of Bettina, and says sorry that the weather is not so good. He also tells that he missed the Laureates and young scientists in Mainau, since due to the pandemic the Meeting hasn't been organized in last two years.
Then countess Bettina tells about the final day and presents the panel discussion.

How does Mainau GmbH company have to develop in order to meet future demands? Projects were specified with Master Plan 2040, but then came the pandemic.
"Corona took a lot out of us. The result of five years was squandered", says countess Bettina Bernadotte, Managing Director of Mainau GmbH. Those responsible had thought that the company was in a robust position. However, the pandemic had shown that they are not that diversified.
Mainau GmbH also has to contend with other problems: lack of employees, delivery bottlenecks, rising costs. And with regard to new construction projects, the availability of materials and rising costs are among the other handicaps.
The effects of the pandemic and the Ukraine war are currently being felt, but cannot be fully foreseen. Bettina and her team have questions because visitor behavior has changed. Is the reluctance only temporary or will it last for a long time? Are bus trips to tourist locations still in demand or is this a dying branch of the economy? Therefore, Mainau GmbH is now putting all future plans to the test.
The palm house was originally built for plants to overwinter, but had become a popular venue. For monument protection reasons, it must be dismantled by 2028. They are thinking whether two separate buildings would make more sense. The question of the location has also not been clarified. Bettina hopes that in 2023 they can roughly foresee the probable development.

Today, 17th July, the first electric ferry was christened as "Insel Mainau" (the Island of Mainau) in Konstanz.
The construction of the electric ship for the Bodensee-Schiffsbetriebe (BSB) is an important signal "for significantly more climate-neutral mobility on Bodensee", said Baden-Württemberg's Transport Minister Winfried Hermann at the celebration on the island of Mainau.
According to the BSB, the entire fleet should be climate-neutral by 2035. The managing director of the flower island of Mainau, countess Bettina Bernadotte, described the naming of the e-ferry as a "special honor".
In the future, the electric ferry will take up to 300 people from Uhldingen across the lake to the island of Mainau.

The first battery-powered passenger ship for Bodensee was christened on Sunday in the port of the island of Mainau.
The first e-ship for Bodensee was not christened with sparkling wine, as is usual, but with Bodensee water. The children christened theship. Like the first electric ship on Bodensee, they stand for the future, said the managing director of the island of Mainau and godmother of the electric ship, Countess Bettina Bernadotte on Sunday.

The park on the island of Mainau has a new attraction: a vertically planted, ten-meter-wide brick wall - equipped with painted pallets, insect hotels, planted rubber boots and flower pots. The so-called vertical gardening installation was created by nine regional groups of Europa Minigärtner. A total of more than 140 children from all over Baden-Württemberg recently came together to Mainau to celebrate the completion of their mini gardener course together with countess Bettina Bernadotte, the initiator of the Europa Mini Gardeners, her team leaders and guests.
The children got from countess Bettina their certificates and book "Schlau Gärtnern" with gardening tips and tricks suitable for children, a gift from the Klaus Tschira Foundation.

Countess Bettina Bernadotte has christened a dahlia.
This year the BIG Bobby Car celebrates its 50th birthday and on this occasion a dahlia bears the name of the iconic car: The decorative dahlia "Bobby Car", a novelty from the gardening Paul Panzer breeder, was christened on July 20th by countess Bettina Bernadotte.
Mainau Garden Director Markus Zeiler, breeder Dirk Panzer and BIG Managing Director Thomas Röttenbacher were also present at the christening.
"Half a century, the cult toy has been making children's hearts beat faster - congratulations to the Bobby Car on this anniversary and good luck for the next 50 years! And this beautiful dahlia will certainly conquer many hearts of garden and flower lovers in the future", said countess Bettina.
“The 50th birthday of our bright red Bobby Car has already caused a sensation this year. You often get flowers for your birthday, our little red ride-on rider even gets his own flower today: a bright red 'Bobby Car' dahlia! We are very happy about the cooperation with the island of Mainau and I would like to thank countess Bettina Bernadotte and her team as well as the dahlia breeder Dirk Panzer for this extraordinary honor", added Thomas Röttenbacher, Managing Director Director at BIG Spielwarenfabrik GmbH & Co. KG.

The theme of the dialogue was "Our water in times of climate change". Countess Bettina's husband Philipp Haug attended also the dialogue. Count Björn Bernadotte and Lennart Bernadotte Foundation organizes the Mainau Sustainability Dialogue together with the Ministry of the Environment of Baden-Württemberg.
Countess Bettina and count Björn Bernadotte are the managing directors of Mainau GmbH. Mainau GmbH has also Mainau Erlebniswald (Mainau Adventure Forest), which is located opposite the island of Mainau in the adjacent forest on the mainland. The adventure forest can be reached in about 15 minutes on foot from the Mainau car park.
In 2011, the first considerations for a climbing facility in the Mainau forest on the mainland, opposite the flower island of Mainau, arose.
The decision was soon made and a first concept was in place: in line with the philosophy of the island of Mainau, the forest, the trees and their unique ecosystem on the mainland should also become a place for visitors to experience. Above all, the living being tree should be brought closer to people and explained from the root to the crown.
In addition to the climbing forest, environmental education concepts are offered, making the adventure forest an extracurricular place of learning.
