TV4 has also this year made their own program "Kungahuset 9 till 5" about the Royal family's year.

Emotional and eventful year for the royal family
In documentary Kungahuset 9 till 5, Jesper Börjesson has followed the royal family which reflects both the public office and their assignments in Sweden and abroad in personal conversations. "To me it is clear that the Royal family has a strong drive on several issues and that is what we wanted to show", says Jesper Börjesson.
The royal family's everyday life is portrayed with travel and public duties, and they also explain how they themselves look at their mission - a lifelong responsibility that is also their work.
"It has been both exciting and instructive to follow our royal house and their work a little closer. We have among other things been with, when Queen Silvia and Princess Madeleine's child rights work is praised in the United Nations headquarters in New York. We have also interviewed the King about what role he has in an increasingly polarized society", says Börjesson.
Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel tell about their work during the year, among hundreds of assignments, they have focused on sports, health and entrepreneurship. In addition to work, the year has been characterized by Victoria's 40th birthday, which was celebrated with the whole family, but also by the terror attack on Drottninggatan in April, which shook up all over Sweden. Jesper meets the King in a conversation about why we should not let ourselves be scared but let our lives go on. Other current events involving the Royal family is the MeToo campaign, where both King and Prince Daniel reflect on what it means to society, according to prince Daniel it is among the biggest that has happened since women got rights to vote.

Kungahuset 9 to 5 will be broadcasted on December 25 at 20.00 on TV4 and TV4 Play.

Jesper Börjesson about "Kungahuset 9-5" at his Instagram with a photo of him with Daniel

"During this year I have followed @kungahuset. We have talked about what they are working with, #metoo, the terror attack at Drottninggatan and what drives they have. On Christmas day in @tv4 at 20 you see the result. The program is called Kungahuset 9 - 5. Hope you are watching."

Everyone has noticed the Me Too-movement. Crown Princess Victoria and Queen Silvia have previously demonstrated their support for #metoo, and now, Prince Daniel tells in TV4's "Kungahuset 9-5" how he reacted to the stories of sexual abuse. "It means more for gender equality than anything else that has happened since female voting rights in our country in 1921", says Prince Daniel in the program that will be broadcast on Christmas Day.

About TV4's "Kungahuset 9-5", which will be broadcasted on 25th December

This summer, Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel celebrated their seventh wedding anniversary. It has also marked seven years of joint work together - as it often happens in the royal family when the couples carry out assignments for Sweden together.
In TV4's "Kungahuset 9-5", both Victoria and Daniel tell about what collaboration they have.
- We have become a very good team. We have different interests and experiences, and we are different as people. It feels great that we complement each other, says Crown Princess Victoria.
Prince Daniel also talks about how it is to have the opportunity to work with his darling.
- It's amazingly inspiring to work with my wife. We don't do it all the time, but I appreciate it. It's a lovely feeling to come home and share experiences and discuss what went well, what did not go well ...
But in the program, Prince Daniel also reveals who really decides. Under a joint commitment in the Bernadotte Library, where Prince Daniel spoke in front of wife Victoria, he happens to go too far from the microphone and then views his wife in the audience.
- Just that, he says, moving back to the podium.
- My wife is more used to this than me, she always steers me when I move here and there.
Since 2010, Prince Daniel has also taken another step into the publicity by becoming Prince of Sweden. He is asked in "Kungahuset 9-5" how he views the publicity.
- I see it as a benefit to highlight and put the spotlight on important issues. It's a typical situation, when I get involved and draw attention to an issue that I am passionate about. I am grateful that I have this platform and the role I have in making a difference, he says.

As a Finn I give a big plus to the program, because they had been with Daniel in Finland and interviewed him here.

If we are now discussing about "Året med kungafamiljen" (The Year with the Royal Family) at this thread, it would be good if the discussions from previous years (2003-) could be moved to this thread too. It is confusing if we have discussions at two different threads.

A clip from the program, of Victoria's interview. What a great background for the interview! It was done in Malmö on 11th October, when Victoria attended Life Below Water 2017 conference, inaugurated the Marine Educational Centre and visited World Maritime University.
Sara Bull asks if Victoria sometimes feels that she is caught by her role? Victoria says: What should I say...? It is clear that it puts some limitations in life. It does. But it opens up for huge opportunities as well. It is giving and taking, like most at your life. Sara Bull says that in the summer they met in Solliden a woman who had come to celebrate Victoria's birthday. At the clip the woman says that the people don't think what the royal family sacrifices for them. They can never do like us, just come here. They have someone with them all the time. It's this freedom... they sacrifice their lives for us. It is so great. They get never paid enough about that. Bull asks Victoria: Does it feel like that? Victoria answers: That is... I believe in this. I want to do what I can for Sweden. I can highlight things and show off Sweden. That is something I want to do with these hikes I have started. To hike through our provinces, it is my way to remind what we have. This fantastic country with enormous resources, totally for free, which only wait to be made use of and discovered. We should make the most of it, and we are not really doing it. Many have not got the chance. I hope that now more people see this, and that it isn't so difficult and doesn't demand so much. That we see the worth of what we have around us.

At Expressen's article is a small clip of Victoria and Estelle visiting Askö Laboratory in September.
Estelle's cute greeting to the animal in SVT
Princess Estelle, 5, seems to have found her favorite animal. SVT's "The Year with the Royal Family", as the only media, got to accompany the little princess at one of her first official missions - and she showed her delight in a special animal.
The program (broadcasted since 1977) shows a selection of the missions that the royal family had during the year.
But this year's program is extra special: Princess Estelle has a central role in the program.
The program starts and ends with pictures from when she and mother Victoria visited the Askö laboratory in the fall. One of the little princess' first official missions with her mother. The laboratory is located in Trosa Archipelago and conducts marine activities throughout the year, where researchers can study the ocean in the field, in the lab or in the experimental hall. It is part of the Stockholm University's Baltic Sea Center.
In the program it becomes clear that Princess Estelle is a true animal and nature lover.
On the way out to Askö, Estelle sings smoothly, lyrically about getting to be at a boat in her mother's knee. And Estelle gets a jellyfish in sight, something she obviously had looked forward to.
- Jellyfish, at last! Hi jellyfish, Estelle smiles.
Crown Princess Victoria tells at the program about her daughter's interest in animals and nature.
- She is very interested in nature and the environment and has asked many questions about the sea and fish. So it felt natural to bring her. It was very successful. She thought it was incredibly exciting, says Victoria.
The program shows pictures of a happy little princess who runs around Askö and listens interested when she and Mom Victoria are given lectures by the laboratory experts.
On their way home, Estelle and Victoria are in the boat, and then Estelle again gets sight of the favorite animal ...
- Oh, there's a jellyfish! Jellyfish! See you next time, jellyfish, says Estelle in the program when she sits in Victoria's knee.

Madeleine has been interviewed in February in London in connection of opening the Room for Children in Nordic children's library. Madeleine says that they like to live in London, there are a lot of green parks and it is very child friendly. But she misses her family and friends, and the nature of Sweden. London is closer to Stockholm than New York and she can get to Stockholm quickly. She also says that they enjoy London now, but it is possible that they move to Sweden some day.

SVT published "Året med kungafamiljen" at SVT play last night. It will be shown at SVT1 at 20.00 this evening.
At the program is shown Victoria and Estelle going to Askö laboratory, Victoria's 40th birthday, Victoria's interview through the program, Victoria's hikes, state visit to Indonesia, Margareta Thorgren's interview, the king at the opening of the Swedish Tourist Association's Abiskojaure mountain hut, the terror attack at Drottninggatan, Daniel at the Swedish Association of School Nurses' conference and Special Olympics School day (he is interviewed), a long interview with the queen at her office. Madeleine in interviewed at the opening the Room for Children in Nordic children's library. Queen Silvia speaks about MeToo, she and Victoria are shown at Södra Teatern, a short clip of the official dinner. Carl Philip and Sofia are interviewed about their life with children and about their Foundation. Victoria is shown at her trip in Japan and then we see again Victoria and Estelle in Askö, looking and listening very interested what they are told. The program ends at the Nobel prize ceremony.
Året med kungafamiljen - Avsnitt 1_ Året med kungafamiljen _ SVT Play

What was good at the program, for once they had a long interview with queen Silvia. It was also nice to see her office, there seemed to be a photo of countess Alice Trolle-Wachtmeister. About Victoria's birthday in Solliden, it is always touching to see the people waiting for hours that the gates are opened. And the woman who was interviewed was so moved when she spoke about the royal family and their work. Victoria said that the celebration was fine and she was so happy and touched that so many wanted to celebrate with her and make the day so special. Victoria would like to have more time, there is so much more she would like to do, to spend more time with her children, they grow up too quickly, she would like to do more, to make a difference for Sweden. Daniel is asked how it is to speak in front of so many people at the nurse's conference. Daniel points out that the nurses are a group who perhaps don't get so much attention than the others. Queen Silvia tells about how she hired ladies-in-waitings, at first they were nurses, because everyone wants to talk with nurses. A Lady in waiting does important work which is not easy, she is always there to help, but should not be seen so much. The queen speaks also a lot about MeToo. Victoria says about taking Estelle to Askö, that you always wonder how the children have so wise questions. They see things we don't see, and that is why it is so fun to do a thing like this together, to discover, because the children notice things you would never see if you hadn't children with you. That you have the chance to come really close to the nature, and have someone with you, who can explain to you everything you see. Victoria says she knows quite a lot, but not so much than the people who are working with these questions. The children are so incredibly easily interested and it is so grateful and fun to introduce her to this new world, to discover what really happens below the surface.

Expressen's royal expert Karin Lennmor at her chronicle about "Året med kungafamiljen". She writes that SVT's program is better than TV4's "Kungahuset 9-5".

Here is the sequence that will be a classic
I just love "The Year with the Royal Family"! What makes this royalistic television program so irresistible?
Once a year, those who like royals need to have a little bit of feast, follow the royal family in everyday and feast, at work and in private life? It is about our head of state and his family.
Producer Sara Bull has won the royal family's confidence with her muted role and professional but gentle style to interview. Surely she gets many exciting insights into the family's life ... what we don't see from tv ... But Sara doesn't tell anything. I and surely many other journalists have asked her to blab a little ...
In this year's program there is a new bright star - Princess Estelle! SVT allows this little charmer to take her place. But give us even more!
The program begins with that Estelle goes with mother Victoria to Askö to visit a marine research center. Estelle sings to the full "Oajajajaj buff!" - You know the verse of the child's song when Mother Troll has put her eleven little trolls to bed.
This scene is guaranteed to be as classic as the kitchen scene in the 80's when the royal children made sausage and Victoria called: "Mera kött, mera kött! (More meat)
But back to Estelle. To go with her mother on a boat trip, to learn about the sea, the Baltic Sea - it's so rightly thought of Victoria. Estelle is still small, but she is inquisitive and gobbles everything she can learn. Wise to let her child become environmentally aware already as a 6 year old! They have fun together, mom and daughter, and you notice how nice relationship they have.
Estelle is already raised to her role in life, but in a easy and fun way. She is spontaneous and unselfconscious. Like when she talks with jellyfish:
- Jellyfish! Finally! Hi jellyfish!
There is a big difference between children growing up in the 80's and today. In the early programs we met Victoria, Carl Philip and Madeleine as small ... but they were shy and somewhat uncomfortable. Completely different as Estelle 2017! Lovely to see!
She's already urbane, the young one! She poured elegantly up the water for cousin Gabriel at the baptism. She can converse - even a little in English - and sometimes she acts as a little hostess when mom and dad have guests, for example, serves snacks.
Crown Princess Victoria always returns to the question of being a present mom - she thinks that she is not that! But I think it's right to introduce your children to new worlds, to already give Estelle an environmental thought, to make her feel pure water, algae, jellyfish, the sea is exciting and fun. In addition, our environment is such a great question - it's not political, we can all stand up and say we want a better environment.
Princess Estelle is the TV-star of the year!

Expressen writes about that Chris and Madeleine's children are not with at "The Year with the Royal Family".

Princess Madeleine's husband Chris O'Neill and children Leonore and Nicolas are absent in "The Year with the King Family".
- Chris does not always figure in the official context, so it's no other explanation than that this year, it became a little less focus on him, said Margareta Thorgren.
Instead, it is the Crown Princess's 40th anniversary that is in focus, as well as various official contexts that the royal family participated in.
- SVT had long broadcasts from the Crown Princess's birthday, and there you see the whole Madeleine's family. We interviewed Princess Madeleine in London, but then the focus was on her and, naturally, the children were not included. On official missions, the children are seldom, says Sara Bull, producer at SVT.
The court is happy about the selection:
- We think it's good that they have concentrated on the official work of the royal family and there should not be a big focus on young children, although many may think it's fun to see them, says Margareta Thorgren.
SVT believes it's a coincidence that Chris O'Neill, Leonore and Nicolas are not part of the program and refers to last year, especially Chris O'Neill was more seen.
- And he has no official mission, no title. Had he had that we might have tried to get an interview a bit more often. But we have had with him and there is nothing that says we will not have it in the future again. We did not submit an interview request to Chris O'Neill this year, says Sara Bull.
Därför är Chris O'Neill inte med i _Året med kungafamiljen_ _ Kungligt _ Expressen

I find it a bit weird that the inteviewer addresses them in the 3rd person.
I have never noticed it in interviews with other royals.

Five wedding dresses - five steps into a new life. Queen Silvia and Princesses Lilian, Victoria, Madeleine and Sofia tell personally about the dresses they had at their weddings. The best parts for me were Pär Engsheden telling so well about Victoria's wedding dress and how it was made. And to hear about Lilian and Elizabeth Wondrak. How they were friends and Wondrak made clothes for Lilian for over 50 years.

No, Året med Kungafamiljen is not aired on 17th December.

From the TV schedule of SVT we can see that on 17th December on SVT1 at 20.00 will be shown a program "Queen Silvia 75 years"
On December 23, Queen Silvia turns 75 years. SVT's Claes Elfsberg interviewed her when she was brand new in Sweden in March 1976, during the memorable press conference when King Carl XVI Gustaf and Miss Silvia Sommerlath announced their engagement. Now, Queen Silvia and Claes Elfsberg meet again. The queen is sitting in the same couch as she sat at the engagement, for a conversation about family and aging, about children and childhood, about duties and pleasures.

Svensk Damtidning has great photos of the Crown princess family, from the filming of SVT's "Året med kungafamiljen". They have interviewed producer Sara Bull.

New wonderful pictures! Estelle and Oscar on treasure hunt
Princess Estelle in a sun hat and Victoria in sneakers and summery hair. We have had a preview of SVT's The Year with the Royal Family!
- We met the Crown Princess family on a beach not far from Solliden on Öland, a couple of days after Victoria's birthday, says Sara Bull.
- It was one of those hot days, but it blew quite much from the water. Estelle and Oscar ran around and picked up litter and then Prince Daniel collected them in the bucket. It became a bit like a treasure hunt, as the Crown Princess says. They made it a fun play while having a lovely outing on the beach. And it became a very natural way to talk to the children about how important it is that you don't litter and that what you take with you to the nature, you should also take it home.
- It reflects the Crown Princess's commitment during the year, many of her missions have focused on the ocean issue and the problems with plastics and microplasts and what it does to the animals and the sea and ourselves.
- But, of course, we also talked about what Öland means for the crown princess, and she became The Öland Inhabitant of The Year.
What do you take with yourself from this day?
- How fun the kids thought it was, it really became a play! I have children and I think this was a very good way to both come out with the family while communicating this important message to the children. So I took with me that it is still easy to make a difference with small things.
And so you've met the queen too!
- Yes, in the kitchen garden at Solliden, in the beginning of her summer vacation. It was also a lovely and hot day. The queen was so relaxed and happy.
- It became a nice conversation about life and happiness and the family. We got to go along when she picked raspberries and strawberries and then she showed the hen house where she usually goes with her grandchildren.
- But we talked about her work as well, and about what happened during the year. And how to really prepare a child to become Sweden's future queen - a big mission. As a queen and a mother of three, she has a long experience of it.
- It was a very nice day. We were there for quite some time and the Queen felt wonderfully at ease and happy.

Expressen today about "Året med kungafamiljen"

In the SVT program "The Year with the Royal Family", the viewers can follow the Royal Family's official missions during the year - and may also meet our royals on more private occasions.
Like when the producer and program leader Sara Bull and photographer Rikard Collsiöö this summer accompanied the Crown Princess family to a beach on Öland.
- It was a warm and beautiful summer day. One of questions close to the heart of the Crown Princess is what we can do to save our ocean and take care of our nature. The family looked for litter on the beach to help clean the beach. But the Crown Princess made it a wonderful play for the children, almost like a treasure hunt. She also took time to talk with us and the children about these important issues, that plastic doesn't belong in the seas, and that you take home what you have brought with you, says Sara Bull.
- The kids thought it was fun, they were really engaged and walked for a long time on the beach and found a lot of things that should not be there, such as plastic bits, bottles, and other things that don't belong at a beach. Making the search of litter to a treasure hunt felt very educational, a smart way to convey an important message to their children while making a wonderful family trip.
Crown Princess Victoria's commitment to climate and the environment appears in many contexts, and she thinks it is important to pay attention to the issue for the Swedish people.
- The Crown Princess wants to put a lot of spotlight on sustainability issues, says chief information officer
Sara Bull also met Queen Silvia in the kitchen garden at Solliden, and it became a long conversation about the family, the work and the turning of years..
- It became a rich interview, we had time to talk a lot. The queen was very happy and relaxed.
