On this day 20 years ago The Oresund Bridge was inaugurated
The swedish royal court reminisces the day at its Instagram
“The bridge is the symbol of future faith and brotherhood in this dynamic and exciting region. As a beautiful piece of jewelery, she ties two countries that are traditionally close to each other but yet so different. But with joint efforts, we can meet challenges and move the development forward, for the benefit of both Danes and Swedes”, the King said when @oresundsbron was inaugurated on July 1, 2000.
On this day twenty years ago, the permanent link across Öresund was inaugurated by the King and the Queen of Denmark.
In ceremonial form, the Swedish Royal couple and the Danish Regent couple met at Pepparholm, in the middle of Öresund, where they arrived by train from their respective home countries.
Already in 1999, the two Royal Houses, represented by Crown Princess Victoria and Crown Prince Frederik, met on the Oresund Bridge in connection with the last bridge span being put in place and the countries became land-fixed for the first time in historical time.

When Victoriadagen (Victoria's birthday celebration) celebrated its 25th anniversary in July 2004, all Victoria scholarship recipients from 25 years gathered in Borgholm and then the king and queen invited them to a private lunch, held at the boathouse in Solliden.
Group photos were taken in front of Solliden Palace.
On Victoria's right side is Peter Forsberg, now a good friend of Victoria and Daniel. And at the second row, the second woman from the right is Carolina Klüft, operations manager at Generation Pep. Beside king Carl Gustaf stands Kay Wiestål, the organizer of the Victoriadagen concert in 1979-2018.

Victoria and Carl Philip on 13th March 2017 with Sauli Niinistö, the President of Finland, at a memorial service for the Swedish Volunteer Corps who served in Finland's Winter War. They laid wreaths on the Finland monument in Finland’s Park in Stockholm. The Winter War ended on 13th March 1940.

Yet again I must wonder why in the new family portrait on the " royal house" page Prince Daniel must be relegated to standing in the back row with the junior royals (Prince Carl Philip, Princess Sofia, and Princess Madeleine), separating him from the other senior royals (the King, Queen, and Crown Princess), who are seated in the front row.
However, the formal portrait of the three generations of Bernadotte heads of house looks lovely.
