The King, Queen and Crown Princess in an audience about coronavirus

On Wednesday, February 12, the King, the Queen and the Crown Princess gave an audience to State Secretary Maja Fjaestad and representatives of the Public Health Agency, The National Board of Health and Welfare and The Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency (MSB).
The invitees informed about the coronavirus (2019-nCoV) and the preparedness measures that Sweden has taken in response to the virus.

Great to see Estelle at the concert! Lilla Akademien (The Junior Academy) is the only school of its kind in Scandinavia, providing musical education and teaching from preschool to upper secondary level, as well as adult education. The school was founded in 1994. An upper secondary school was added in 2002, and education for 19- to 23-year-olds was added in 2005.

The royal family arrived at Vasateatern in Stockholm, and they can look forward to a very special evening. For now, Queen Silvia will get her belated 75th birthday gift - and she has been looking forward to that for more than a year…
It is the children of the music school Lilla Akademien who pay tribute, and they do so with a performance inspired by Selma Lagerlöf's Nils Holgersson's wonderful journey through Sweden. Although now it is redone and has been named "En underbar resa med alla barns drottning" (A Wonderful Journey with the Queen of all children).
There will be surprises in the evening - and the first one already appeared in the foyer: Princess Estelle, soon 8, joined to celebrate grandma!
The show is an hour and a quarter long and there will be a lot of laughs, and maybe a some tears of joy too.

On Thursday, February 13, the Royal Couple, Crown Princess Couple, Princess Estelle and Princess Sofia visited Vasateatern in Stockholm to listen to a performance of the music school Lilla Akademien.
The performance was the music school's 75th anniversary tribute to the Queen.

The children in the music school Lilla Akademien had prepared a very special birthday present for Queen Silvia. A concert inspired by Selma Lagerlöf's Nils Holgersson's wonderful journey through Sweden.
- It was a very nice performance. The common thread was everything the queen has done for children, says Margareta Thorgren.
In the audience also sat a certain heir to the throne. Princess Estelle was there to listen to the music - and to celebrate Grandma of course. Especially pleasing was that Estelle was without both cast and crutches.
- As you very well noted, the princess is without her cast. She has been for a couple of weeks, says Margareta.
Estelle, who wore a new fine dress at the concert, is now almost completely recovered after her skiing accident.
- There is always some rehabilitation when removing a cast. But it has healed nicely and the princess is doing well, says Margareta.

On Friday, February 21, the King and Crown Princess gave an audience to Torbjörn Sohlström, Sweden's ambassador to Britain. During the meeting, the King and Crown Princess received the latest information regarding the British exit from the European Union.
During today's audience, the King and Crown Princess were given the opportunity to ask questions about what the exit means for bilateral cooperation between Sweden and the UK and how trade and investments are affected.
Torbjörn Sohlström also informed, among other things, about the importance of "Brexit" for Swedish citizens living in the UK.

On Wednesday, an official dinner with 150 guests would have taken place at the Royal Palace in Stockholm. Now the court chooses to postpone the event.
- The reason is the corona virus. It is today that the decision has been made. Now we are working on getting everyone this information in person, says Margareta Thorgren.
The dinner would have been already in two days, and it is at short notice that the decision is made.
- It's a very late decision, given that it would have been on Wednesday. But many people wonder what different measures to take, and this is for the sake of the invited guests, says the director of the press department.
Margareta Thorgren points out that the official dinner is not cancelled, but will be conducted at a later date.
- It is a postponement of the official dinner in anticipation of the continued development of events, she says.
The court follows The Public Health Agency's and the Ministry for Foreign Affairs' assessments - and the royal family's planned trips abroad are now at risk of being stopped.
- There are some trips that are planned, state visit and official trips, which we have not communicated at present. We follow the advice on travel that the Ministry for Foreign Affairs recommends. It's a time of waiting, says Margareta Thorgren and continues:
- We have a number of trips that lie in the very near future that we have not yet decided on. This is something we follow daily.
The royal family often travels abroad in their offices, but have not been in any of the risk-affected zones.
- Now we have taken the measures on the court, just like many other organizations, that if you have been on sports holidays in the risk-affected countries then you have to think extra. The royal family has not been, and the working days are as usual, says Thorgren.

This postponement is probably the most responsible thing a public institution can do to minimise the risk of spreading the virus. I think will see other royal courts and public bodies throughout Europe decide similar measures. The Louvre in Paris being closed over the weekend has set the standard for a public response.
 
King Carl Gustaf and Victoria attended today at the Council of State.
On Monday, March 2, a Council of State was held at the Royal Palace. During Councils of State, each minister present informs The King about political initiatives, investigations and current legislation within his or her department, and responds to questions asked by The King.
Councils of State are held three or four times a year. The King leads these Councils of State, in which The Crown Princess also participates.

On Friday, March 6, the King, the Crown Princess and Prince Daniel gave an audience to Minister for Justice and Migration, Morgan Johansson.
During the meeting the minister informed about the extra meeting of Council of the European Union in domestic and judicial issues, in which the minister attended in Brussels on 4 March as a result of the migration situation at the EU's external border.

Temporary changes in the Royal Court's activities
HM The King has decided on a number of temporary program changes in the near future.
The Head of State and Royal Court's activities are proceeding within the framework of what prevailing circumstances surrounding the new corona virus allow. The court follows the decisions taken as well as the advice and recommendations given by the government and expert authorities.
The King and the royal family are keen to contribute as far as possible to limit the spread of covid-19.
Against this background, HM The King has decided on a number of temporary program changes in the near future. The royal court monitors the development and continuously make renewed assessments.
The decision means:
All planned programs will be gradually re-evaluated based on risks and conditions
The King and the Crown Princess will, whenever possible, carry out program points separately rather than jointly.
There will be a great deal of restrictiveness regarding the Royal Family's travels.
Organizers who choose to postpone events where royal participation is planned will be met with an understanding of this. In these cases, the court will, as far as possible, meet the wish for a royal presence at a later date.

The king and Victoria attend tomorrow an extra Council of State at the Royal Palace.

Last Friday, the decision was made that the King and Crown Princess would immediately be stopped from working together. But already, five days later, the court's directive on security will be challenged.
The King has called the government to an extra Council of State at the Royal Palace, to be held tomorrow on Wednesday - and then Crown Princess Victoria will sit at the King's right side.
But this goes against the new guidelines that should minimize the risk that the king and the crown princess could fall ill at the same time?
- Yes, but it is due to the extraordinary situation in Sweden right now, says Margareta Thorgren.
- The decision that the king and the crown princess should not work together applies to the extent possible. And in this case, it is about information that is extremely important to both of them.

During the digital representation, Katarina Areskoug Mascarenhas outlined the measures that are currently being prioritized in European cooperation in connection with the pandemic. The priority measures that the Union focuses on include securing access to medical equipment, promoting research on treatment and vaccines, and supporting employment, businesses and the economy.

On Monday, May 11, the King and Prince Daniel gave digital audience to Swedish business representatives to discuss how the Swedish industry is affected by the pandemic and what happens when the industry gradually starts up in Europe.
Through the video link, the King and Prince met several business representatives during the morning.
The interview began with an account of how the Swedish industry was affected by the pandemic. In Sweden, exports to the outside world account for 1.3 million Swedish jobs, half of which come from exports to the EU internal market. The meeting participants therefore talked, among other things, about the conditions for companies and employment as EU countries gradually reopen.

On Wednesday, May 20, the Royal Couple and Crown Princess Couple held a video meeting with The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences on covid-19 pandemic.
During the meeting, the participants discussed the rise of the covid-19 pandemic and how it affects society at large.
Göran K. Hansson, professor of cardiovascular medicine and permanent secretary in The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences and Maria Masucci, professor of virology, gave an account of the virus's properties, treatment options, and the spread of infection and infection protection today.
Johan Petersson, chief physician at Karolinska University Hospital, informed about the situation in the intensive care unit and how the business has been restructured to cope with the pressure of care.

On Thursday, May 28, the King, Queen, Crown Princess and Prince Daniel held a digital meeting with Sweden's governors.
The Governor of the County of Västmanland, Minoo Akhtarzand, began the meeting with a general overview of the situation in the counties during the ongoing covid-19 pandemic. Thereafter, each governor accounted for the situation in each county.
Some of the challenges that were raised were the economic consequences for the business community, the need for increased sampling of staff in healthcare and care, and limited staffing. The governors also raised concerns about the hospitality industry in the counties.

Today is the World Environment Day. The day before, the Crown Princess and Prince Carl Philip visited Norra Djurgården.
This year's theme is biodiversity. At the visit, The Royal Djurgården Administration informed about the rich wildlife that exists at Djurgården.
The Royal Djurgården Administration also talked about their role in nurturing and preserving the unique natural areas and biodiversity found at Norra Djurgården.
The Crown Princess and Prince Carl Philip have a deep commitment to the environment. The Crown Princess is part of the Alumni Group for the UN Sustainable Development Goals, Agenda 2030 and Prince Carl Philip is one of the IUCN's Patron of Nature..

The cultural sector and the sports movement are two industries that have suffered hard during the covid-19 pandemic. During the audience, the Minister for Culture and Democracy informed about the measures the government has taken to support Swedish culture and sports.
The Minister also informed of the decision taken by the Government regarding the authorization of sporting events without public from 14 June.

On Wednesday, June 10, the Royal Couple and Crown Princess Couple held a digital meeting with Minister Ann Linde.
The Minister for Foreign Affairs Ann Linde opened the digital meeting with an account of the pandemic's impact on Swedish foreign and security policy.
The Royal and Crown Princess couples were then given information about the consular work of the Foreign Administration during the pandemic, such as support and information, travel recommendations and the evacuation of Swedish citizens.
The Minister also reported on the cooperation between the Nordic countries.

The Royal Couple and the Crown Princess Couple in digital meeting with the Nordic Council's Secretary General
On Wednesday, June 10, the Royal Couple and Crown Princess Couple held a digital meeting with the Nordic Council's Secretary General Britt Bohlin.
During the digital meeting, the King, Queen, the Crown Princess and Prince Daniel received information about the Nordic Council and how Nordic cooperation continues during the covid-19 pandemic, given that the five Nordic countries have chosen different strategies for managing the pandemic.
Secretary General Britt Bohlin also presented the cooperation in the Öresund region.

On Wednesday 2 September, the Queen, the Crown Princess and Prince Daniel gave audiences to representatives from the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency (MSB) regarding the situation in the Lebanese capital Beirut after the big explosion in August.
Audience to Ambassador Ann Dissmor, Ministry for Foreign Affairs
In an audience in the morning, the Queen and the Crown Princess Couple met Ambassador Ann Dismorr, Head of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs' Unit for the Middle East and North Africa.
During the audience, Ann Dismorr informed, among other things, about the latest political developments in Lebanon, what the explosion has meant for the spread of covid-19 and the consequences from a regional perspective.
The Queen, the Crown Princess and Prince Daniel have all recently visited Beirut.

King Carl Gustaf, queen Silvia, crown princess Victoria and prince Daniel had a digital meeting with the county governors in Sweden.

On Thursday 10 September, the King, Queen, Crown Princess and Prince Daniel held a digital meeting with Sweden's county governors.
The governor of Västmanland County and the governor group's doyen, Minoo Akhtarzand, began the meeting by giving a general overview of the situation in the counties during the ongoing covid-19 pandemic. Thereafter, each governor reported on the situation in each county.
Royal visits to all counties in Sweden
Due to the strains that the whole of Sweden is undergoing as a result of the ongoing pandemic, members of the Royal Family will visit, at the King's initiative, Sweden's 21 counties during the autumn of 2020 and spring 2021. The King has decided to divide the visits between the Royal Couple, the Crown Princess and the Prince Couple.

The king, queen, Victoria and Daniel had a digital meeting with the governors also on 28th May.

It is nice that they made this joint visit to the sculpture exhibition organized by The Princess Estelle Cultural Foundation. The last day of the exhibition is 27th September.
Nice to see Brandie with them.

Crown Princess Victoria, 43, and Prince Daniel, 46. Side by side with the King, 74, and Queen Silvia, 76. Yesterday we finally got to see them together again, all four. And it was the first time in seven months: They have not shown up together in this official way since Queen Silvia's birthday concert took place at the Vasa Theater in Stockholm on February 13, just before the pandemic broke out.
The royal couple missed Victoria's official birthday celebration. And Victoria and Daniel missed the corona-fitting ceremonies on the King's birthday and in connection with his speech on National Day. Under more normal circumstances, the Crown Princess couple would otherwise have been self-written next to the royal couple at the Royal Palace.
So now it was a nice autumn walk to look at art - the Alice Aycock exhibition that Princess Estelle's cultural foundation has arranged around Folke Bernadotte's bridge at Djurgården. But perhaps even more a statement about who it is that applies in the Royal House, autumn 2020.
So the queen put on the Chanel gloves, the king took the dog Brandie with him, and then they radiated with Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel at the Djurgårdsbrunn canal.
It has been almost a year since the king's strong policy decision, in which he paved the way for the future monarchy, and with a stroke of a pen took away five of the grandchildren's their Royal Highness titles. Prince Carl Philip and Princess Madeleine will be phased out "in the long run". What remains is this ever stronger core, which the king now chose to show.

Wow what a cozy Thursday it was. The royal couple, King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia, together with Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel, on a guided tour to see sculptures by Alice Aycock at the Royal Djurgården.
The exhibition is the very first organized by Princess Estelle Cultural Foundation. The Princess Estelle Cultural Foundation was formed in the autumn of 2019 on the initiative of the Crown Princess couple and the purpose is to promote cultural activities in Sweden.
But, let's focus a little on the clothes, for a moment… Do you see how nice mother and daughter match? Both Silvia and Victoria wear coats with shawl collars. Such a nice detail. Victoria's jacket comes from Swedish Toteme. She wears boots from Ralph Lauren and a bag from Little Liffner. Under the jacket she has beige trousers and a tie blouse we have seen several times before.
We've seen Victoria's Toteme jacket before, but now she styles it differently - with a belt at the waist. Maybe a must because it was really windy on Thursday?
Queen Silvia's beautiful coat is, as far as we can see, signed Max Mara.

The royal couple and the Crown Princess couple on an art walk
This week, the King, Queen, Crown Princess and Prince Daniel visited the Royal Djurgården to take part in the sculpture exhibition "Alice Aycock at the Royal Djurgården".
The exhibition consists of six monumental sculptures from Alice Aycock's series "Turbulences".
The sculpture exhibition is Alice Aycock's first in Scandinavia, and the first to be arranged under the auspices of the Princess Estelle Cultural Foundation.
The sculpture exhibitions at Djurgården are originally an initiative of Prince Daniel.

On Friday 18 September, the King and Crown Princess held a follow-up video meeting with Swedish business representatives to discuss how Swedish industry is affected by the pandemic.
Today, the King and Crown Princess met Swedish business representatives digitally to get an insight into how Swedish industry has been affected by the pandemic and how the companies' prospects look in the future, both in Sweden and internationally.
