It also looks like the First Lady of Iceland, Mrs Eliza Reid attended Dementia Forum

.

Together with Queen Sofia and Princess Hisako, Queen Silvia and Princess Sofia attended the Dementia Forum X at the Royal Palace in Stockholm today, May 15:

I wonder if this is the 1st time Queen Sofia of Spain met with the Duchess of Värmland?

:previous: Queen Sofia was also in attendance at the king's 70th birthday. They would have met then as well.

Lovely idea from queen Silvia and crown princess Victoria to take queen Sofia and princess Takamado to Haga Park and visit Gustav III's pavilion, and then have lunch at Victoria's home Haga Palace, which has meant and means a lot to the family. I'm sure the guests got to hear pieces of the royal family's history during the day.

At the court article it was told, that queen Silvia, queen Sofia and princess Takamado were guided at Haga Park and the Pavilion by Victoria and Daniel's The Master of Chamber, Jonas Wallin, who lives with the crown princess couple at Haga Palace with his family.

King Carl Gustaf, queen Silvia and crown princess Victoria attend at the presentation of the Solliden Award to the Öland Inhabitant of the Year on 11th July at Solliden Palace.
Kalender - Sveriges Kungahus

It will be the nature lover Pav Johnsson who will receive the prize of the Öland Inhabitant of the Year. For everyday life he works as a teacher at Öland Folk High School, but he is well known for his great interest in animals, mainly birds. He has also written several books. Pav has lived in Öland since 1999.

The Öland Inhibitant of the Year gets every year glass art, this year it was owls of glass.
The Öland Inhabitant of the Year praised with owls of glass
As the 40th in the row of people who received the award of The Öland Inhabitant of the Year, Pav Johnsson received the Solliden Award from King Carl XVI Gustaf's hand on Thursday afternoon.
The King and queen were joined by Crown Princess Victoria, who has also been awarded The Öland Inhabitant of the Year. Even the king has received the prize.
When it was time for the actual awards ceremony, the Barometern's editor-in-chief and the chairman of the year's jury, Anders Enström, to come up and tell a little about how the laureates are appointed and read the justification. He also told us a little about the piece of glass that is part of the prize.
- It is a piece of glass from Målerås glassworks, designed by Mats Jonasson, and it represents owls, we thought it could be suitable for this year's prize winner.
King Carl XVI Gustaf handed over the prize to Pav and stated:
- Here you get some owls that don't fly away when you look at them, but when you come home they are always there.
Pav, in turn, had something for the king and went and fetched something.
- Here you get a book, The Birds of Öland, Pav said and handed it to the king.
- Yes, I have always enjoyed nature and birds and different places, said the king.

On Thursday Pav Johnsson received the prize at Solliden's Palace. The prize winner is appointed by a jury appointed by P4 Kalmar and Barometern.
- It was a solemn framing that I am not used to, says Pav Johnsson.
In 2017, insect researcher Dave Karlsson was named The Öland Inhabitant of the Year. Two years later, it is another nature expert who gets the prize. Pav Johnsson sees it as a sign that biodiversity is a topical issue:
- David and I represent science, research and conservation of biodiversity.

It's interesting that Victoria attended this year too, usually only the king and queen have attended the award ceremony. Is this a new tradition?

Beautiful photos. Thanks for sharing!
Any particular reason why the king is not dressed up in traditional garb?

Never seen this traditional attire. Can anyone explained me from where is it from?

The King generally never wears a folk costume.

It's a royal variety of the local costume that was traditionally worn by the women on Öland, the island where the Royal summer palace Solliden is situated. The ordinary costume was deemed a bit simple so Queen Victoria developed a more elaborate version of it together with Oda Berg who worked at the Kalmar Provincial Folk Handicraft Museum (or something like that).

Interesting; I assumed it was the traditional Öland dress - so good to know it's the 'royal version' of the traditional dress.

For Kathia Sophia: the queen and crown princess also wear it every year for the evening concert on Victoria's birthday (see for example her 40th birthday celebration).

I had no idea about it myself until I looked around to reply to the question.

Thanks for the info.:flowers: It's a lovely costume. And also thanks to @Somebody for the link.;)

Thank you all for your replies
I think it is a shame the King doesn't wear it. It would look really nice to see all members of the royal family in traditional garb once in a while.

About Öland dress
Öland - Kalmar handicraft

Victoria's birthday, queen Silvia wore the Öland dress for the first time at the public celebration/concert in 1984 and Victoria obviously in 1992.

I think Victoria attended this year at the event because she was chosen as The Öland Inhabitant of the Year last year. And every year all the people (now 40) who have been The Öland Inhabitant of the Year, are invited to this event. Some attend, others don't.
Victoria attended the event also in 1996, when she delivered The Öland Inhabitant of the Year Award to her father, the king:

The King and Victoria met today representatives of the Police's National Operations Department (NOA). The King and Crown Princess were briefed on the latest explosions and shootings.
After the meeting, the King made the following statement:
“The concern that these acts raise in the public is shared by me and my family. We want to express our participation with those affected and at the same time express our support to the police and other authorities in their continued work."

Victoria's and the King's support - after the shooting deaths
After last week's shooting in Sweden: Crown Princess Victoria and King Carl XVI Gustaf now show their support to the families of the relatives.
"The concern that these acts raise in the public is shared by me and my family," the king said in a statement.
Sweden has been shaken by two notable deaths last week.
On Monday morning, a 31-year-old doctor and toddler mother was murdered on an open street in Malmö, and on the night of Wednesday, an 18-year-old woman was shot dead in an apartment in Råcksta, Stockholm.
None of the women are said to have been the target of the murders, but instead men in their vicinity, both with a criminal background, are reported as the real targets.
