As far as mourning clothes go, I have to say that I loved Madeleine's entire ensemble -- dress and hat. I wish I could say that same for Victoria.
I'm also not a fan of Victoria's demure considering the circumstances, but still blah, tiara at the dinner.
Did Madeleine not attend the dinner?

Victoria's choice of jewellery for both the welcoming ceremony and the gala is very poignant, not to mention a lovely tribute to both Lilian and Bertil.

I know that she wore a pin that Lilian and Bertil gave her at the welcoming ceremony. What did she wear at the gala that was poignant?

I wonder why Madeleine didn't attend the dinner? Or maybe she was late and so no pictures?

I was referring to the brooch Victoria wore both to the welcoming ceremony and the gala.
The smaller Cut Steel Tiara, a very understated piece, is also a proper jewel at this time.

As w/everyone else, you can tell the Family is doing their duty through a very understandable difficult emotional time. I also could tell they were all tired and w/red rimmed eyes. Considering how their Aunt lived her life, they could give her no greater tribute than doing their duty and going on w/the State Visit as planned.
I really love what Victoria wore for the Dinner tonight. Then again, that overall look/bolero jacket, is a personal favourite of mine so... I only hope the Crown Princess wears it again sometime for a happier occasion, as it looks incredible on her.
While I know many despise the smaller Cut Steel Tiara, it really is the proper choice for Victoria to wear for a State Dinner being held during a period of time when the Swedish Royal Family is in Mourning. IMO, the other choice that also would have worked was the Amethyst Tiara, as the dark purple/purple is also considered a colour of Mourning.
Regardless, it is a lovely tribute Victoria made by wearing the brooch her Aunt gave her for both occasions today and I'm betting she'll be wearing it for the rest of the week up to and including the Funeral.
Considering how close they all were to Lilian and what a rough night it had to be for all of them, AFAIC the outfits from today looked just fine for all of them. I'm sure it was the last thing on their minds this morning and they were having a tough time just keeping things together for that Greeting Reception and Formal Photos w/the Turkish President and his wife.
Does anyone know the Order/Medal the King was wearing? As the President was wearing the Order of the Serephim, I'm guessing there was an exchange of Orders as gifts from one head of state to another, but as I'm also not sure....Anyone know?

At the website of the swedish royal court it is told about yesterday's orders, outfits and jewellery. According to that the king wore the turkish Order of State

The members of the swedish Royal Family looked very regal and appropriate at the gala dinner. I'm especially glad that Victoria wore the small cut tiara with the haircomb, it is one of my absolute favourite tiaras. Victoria looked very lovely yesterday evening.
The presidential couple seems very warm and charming.

As it wasn't planned beforehand that Madeleine would be in Sweden at the moment, she was here due to the death of princess Lilian, and the seating for the dinner was planned in advance, I don't think the court was to make a last-minute reshuffle of the seating just because she happened to be here. I also think that she prefered not to participate so soon after her grand-aunt's death when she didn't had to.

The Swedish custom is that when a Head of State (or a member of a royal family) visits Sweden he or she receives the Order of the Seraphim if it's a official State Visit, but it's not given if it's some kind of "working visit" for a head of state or a royal attending a wedding etc.

Perhaps she also spent time with her bachelorette party guests that she Victoria left behind so suddenly. The party was to last for three days so they would normally have returned on Sunday or Monday.

I would guess that Madeleine is still in Sweden, but as the guest list and protocol for state visits are set well in advance the royal court doesn't want to make changes in the last minute. I don't see a reason for Madeleine to make two transatlantic flights in less than five days if it's not necessary.
