State Visit from Malaysia to Sweden: September 14-16, 2005
On 14-16 September 2005, the Paramount Ruler, commonly referred to as King,
Yang Di-Pertuan Agong XII Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin and wife Raja Permaisuri Agong Tuanku Fauziah will pay a State Visit to Sweden.
According to the Government Offices, they will visit Stockholm, Mariefred and Gothenburg.
I'm certain that on this occasion there will be at least one full gala/tiara event everybody can look forward to: On September 14, when the 'welcome' dinner for the Malaysian Royals takes place.
You can never be sure if the return dinner will be in full gala as well, as protocol seems to go strange ways - there have been full gala events for visisting Rebublican Heads Of State (Austria, for example) versus Black-Tie-Only-dinners even when the visitor is a monarch (Jordan, for example), which is rather strange.
By the way: Queen Silvia has made it a tradition to wear the massive Braganca diamond tiara for each 'welcome' dinner if the head of state who comes to visit is a reigning monarch. She started this in the early 80's and has continued to do so ever since, with the surprising exception of the latest state visit of a monarch, the Jordanian Royal couple, which took place in late 2003.
It would be great to see her continuing the habit and wear that impressive 'pièce de résistance' from her collection again! And I hope that not only the Queen but her daughter(s) too might come up with a new dress.... We'll know more by Wednesday.
STOCKHOLM, Sept 13 (Bernama) -- Sweden, a country blessed with attractive heritage buildings, is preparing to welcome the arrival of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Syed Putra Jamalullail and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tuanku Fauziah Tengku Abdul Rashid.

According to Scanpix the fire alarm started during the gala dinner at the Royal castle. As usual I guess it´s nothing serious. But I´m pretty sure the tabloids make sure to let it sound serious :p

Out of my sources I know, that all Swedish ladies wore recycled dresses last night (now we just can hope, that they invest all their energy into new outfits for the Nobel prize award) Madeleine had a nice hairdo and she wore a "new" tiara (the one with 6 buttons). I hope me or others can come up with pics later...
silvia did not use the Braganca Diamond Tiara as she usally dies when the incomming state visit is also a kingdom
but then again she did not do so when there was a state visit from Jordan or the official visit from norway
can it be so that silvia is getting older and the tiara is to heavy for her

This wouldn´t surprise me. It´s said, that she has problems with her intervertebral discs. Sometimes she even uses a little pillow (in between the chair back and her back) during dinners...to release her pains and to "support" her back
