thanks for the pics GrandDuchess!

Is the queen crying in this pic?http://www.theroyalforums.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=197190
You're welcome!

I think she might have been laughing to tears, at least that's what Crown Princess Victoria did (a little I think) during the ceremony, she and the Speaker of the Parliament had such a big laugh together. The whole athmosphere was very "gigglish" in the Parliament today, I don't know why though.

Great photos, thanks for posting them GrandDuchess.:D I especially like the last one in the last set, great smile! Is it tradition to wear black to the opening of parliament, both Queen Silvia and CPss Victoria seem to be in black?

The King and Queen rode in a parade kalesch à la d'Aumont, a four horse carriage, during the còrtege to the Houses of Parliament. Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Carl Philip followed in a two horse parade landeau. As you can see, Princess Madeleine did not attend.

The Crown Princess Victoria and the Speaker of the Parliament had a big laugh together today during the Opening of Parliament, which you can see in some of the pictures I post below (in one the Speaker of the Parliament is wiping his tears off).

These pictures are from Svenska Dagbladet.

Why did Queen Silvia and CP Victoria wair black? I think they always wair black don't they?

I think that Victoria looked good today even though I don´t know why they insist of wearing black outfits every year. But maybe it´s from the "old" time when the cermony was held at the palace, in the pictures that I have seen from that time the Females of the royal family seemed to be dress in black, even though they wore a royal robe and big jewels.

I also have the same opinion, from over the recent years, always at the Opening of The Parliament, The Queen always wears black, i don't know why, some years before i think she just wore black hat only, but now completely black,i think it might be since the death of the Swedish Foreign Minister Anna Lindh who was killed in 2003? Anyone know about that?Because i used to see The Queen wore orange at The Opening of Parliament.

I can´t say, what it is...but Victoria looks of late (summer/autumn) amazingly at ease. It´s not, that she hasn´t looked happy in the past. But in the comparison to now, it often seemed more like some kind of "hysterical" happiness. Now she seems really well-balanced and at peace with herself. In a nutshell I would say, that she looks fantastic.

I saw the photo of Victoria laughting. But in this one everyone looks so serious, look at Göran Persson for example. it seems odd that everyone else is so serious while the queen is laughting to tears...

Thanks to all for post the lovely pictures from opening the parlament.

Who has see pictures from the royal couple at yesterday evening, concert regarding opening the parlament at concert-hall? Thanks for help in advance.

Victoria and Carl-Philip are looking very good today (although CP seems bored). Why is CP sitting apart from his sister? And why is Victoria sitting between empty seats in some pictures? Doesn't the royal family enter last, as they are the most important?

The empty seats might be because the primeminister was up speaking on the "stage" (what is the correct word for talarstol or what its called in swedish?) or something like that.

wonderful photos. thanks so much to everyone who posted. Victoria looked beautiful!

Didnt Lilian wear that outfit to a previous opening of parliament. The Bernadottes' penchant for recycling clothes is well documted. but the same outfit to the same event???

No gala, but a concert was held at the Concert Hall in the evening. Haven't seen any pics from that yet though...

Princess Lilian has worn this outfit to the Opening of Parliament for many years, I think it's her traditional outfit for this occasion. I haven't seen her wearing it at other occasions.

Rostrum?

Isn't it "rostrum"?

Oh! ok, well that is actually kind of cool. a special outfit to wear only once a year. and it is lovely. the velvet is so regal. thanks for explaining this to me.

it's so funny looking at her now to think she was born a regular british girl.

Thanks for all the lovely photos. CPss Victoria looked great.

On the evening of the day of the Opening of Parliament, the King and Queen together with the Crown Princess and Princess Lilian attended a concert on the occasion at the Concert Hall, where they listened to the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Pictures from NewsCom.

No it's not, but maybe they will make it a new tradition for the years to come. So far, the only tradition in connection to the Opening of Parliament is the Church Service held in the Stockholm Cathedral before the ceremony at the Parliament.

But there have been a concert on that eve, the latest years..?
How many years have this concert taken place? I cant remember...
anyone?

This was the third year there has been some kind of musical thing on the evening of the Opening of Parliament, so I'm guessing they will make it a tradition. But we can't be sure yet. The two previous years they have gone to the Royal Opera, and this year it was the Concert Hall.

so you did not find anything there
i will see if i can find anything and if i find any photos from the concerts i will post them at that years threads
