Journalist Johanna Bäckström Lerneby published last May the book "Familjen", which is about a family's control over the residential area Angered in Gothenburg. It has been nominated for the August Prize and given the author the Grand Journalist Prize.

Svensk Damtidning quotes magazine Vi läser (We read) and tells, that Queen Silvia and Victoria liked the book so much that they invited Johanna Bäckström Lerneby to the Royal Palace to discuss about the book with them.

King Carl Gustaf, queen Silvia and the crown princess family were skiing at Drottningholm on Sunday and posed to some photographers.

With the pictures, the royal family sends a happy greeting, but they also have a message. For them, this ski trip was an opportunity to meet, but also a way to show that you can have fun together on a sports holiday, even at home and despite the fact that you have to keep that slightly dull but super important corona distance.

Our Swedish royal family loves to ski and now they do not have to go very far to do so.
We can see how the royal couple and the crown princess couple with little prince Oscar and little princess Estelle look like having a wonderful day on the trail. They ride in a row, laughing and making sure to keep a safe distance due to the prevailing pandemic.
“The royal family appreciated being able to meet on cross-country skis in this way - outdoors and from a distance. Both Princess Estelle and Prince Oscar naturally thought it was very fun to spend time on the ski track with the King and Queen", says the court's information officer Johan Tegel in a text message.

Usually the royals ski in the royal ski lodge in Storlien or on the slopes in Switzerland. When the pandemic stopped these ski plans, it became a ski trip at home in the Palace park instead.

The royal family accelerated on the ski track at Drottningholm Palace. Princess Estelle and Prince Oscar went like real professionals.
It was a long time since we saw the whole royal family together. And maybe that's why the court invited the press to immortalize a ski trip in the snow outside Drottningholm Palace.

It's two weeks to the sports holiday and Svensk Damtidning asked from Margareta Thorgen how the royal family spends the holiday this year.
Thorgren said:
- The royal families will not go to the mountains this year. This is of course in view of the serious pandemic situation. The Crown Princess and her family will spend the sports holiday at home. The winter and the snow we have now in the whole country has given great opportunities to practice winter sports where you live, also to the Crown Princess family. They want to show the possibilities, even when you spend your sports holiday at home.
- Prince Carl Philip and princess Sofia will not travel to the mountains either. Their children are so small, so they do not really have a sports holiday in the same way as Princess Estelle.
- The royal couple live right now in Stenhammar. For everyone, it is continued digital business that applies.

Is this break always called 'the sports holiday' in Sweden? It seems a bit of a strange way to refer to this particular school break.

It will not be a regular sports holiday for Princess Estelle this year.
In just one week, on February 23, Estelle will be nine years old. The following week, there is a sports holiday for her and the other students at Campus Manilla.
But it will not be a regular sports holiday for Estelle and the rest of the family this year.
Usually, Victoria and Daniel take the children to the Alps or the Swedish mountains, which was the plan this year, to ski and enjoy the holiday in sun and snow. The royal couple also usually go up to Storlien. But this year, everyone stays home.
- The entire royal family has decided to stay at home on sports holiday this year, due to the pandemic, says Margareta Thorgren.
Thorgren says that it is about several things, both to show in action the importance of keeping a distance and, if the accident occurs, not burden the health care up there, which is still already strained, now that the vaccination has begun as well. It is a favorable weather to be able to do sports at home, with snow and ski slopes if you want to, as in Drottningholm Palace park, where the royal family was out skiing last week.

Not sure how the 'accident risk' is being mitigated by skiing nearby instead of at a different locations.

One week of snow and ice did lead to overflowing emergency care units at the hospitals in the Netherlands last weekend.

It's a recommendation from our health authorities to stay put, so not to burden another municipality's health service. Storlien is a very small village and has enough with Covid patients and don't need injured Stockholmers to add to their plight. :)

Margareta Thorgren said about the royal family's Easter to Aftonbladet, that as Sofia is expected to give birth at the turn of the month in March and April, the Easter planning for the king and queen has not been fully established.
She confirms that everyone in the royal family celebrates with their own families due to the current situation.
Madeleine has not met her parents or siblings for over a year. She usually travels to Sweden with Chris and the children during holidays and vacations.
- Princess Madeleine and her family celebrate Easter in the USA, says Margareta Thorgren.

I am not sure I understand the answer from Margareta Thorgren. If the King and Queen were to plan their Easter around the birth of Prince Carl Philip's third child, it would raise the question of why the birth of Princess Madeleine's third-born daughter was a lower priority, given that the King and Queen went on vacation abroad at the time of Princess Adrienne's birth in Sweden.

ETA: Unfortunately, Adrienne being a daughter of his daughter while the new grandchild is a son of his son probably accounts for the difference in the King's treatment of their births.

In connection with the next change of throne, it is proposed that the number of royal flag days in Sweden be significantly reduced. Today, Sweden has 18 flag days, six of them are royal. The general flag days have been largely unchanged since 1939. But now a parliamentary committee, led by former Speaker of the Riksdag Björn von Sydow, is reviewing the issue, reports SR Ekot.
The proposal that is expected to come is based on the flag not being hoisted on any royal name days and onwards only on the regent and heir to the throne's birthday.

The royal court has today published it's Annual Report 2020 on its website.
The Marshal of the Realm Fredrik Wersäll writes at his foreword among other things:
H.M. The King and H.R.H. The Crown Princess are, along with H.M. The Queen and H.R.H. Prince Daniel, Sweden's leading representatives both within the country and vis-à-vis other states. H.M. The King's role as unifying representative and symbol is particularly clear in times of stress and crises. The Covid-19 pandemic is an ongoing crisis that has caused great suffering in the form of illness and death and affected the whole of society. H.M. The King and the Royal Family had to re-plan and adapt their programs to the resulting situation. (...)
As a result of the pandemic, all were royal destinations except for the parks completely or partially closed for the most part of the year. The number of visitors decreased by as much as 90 percent and has meant great strain on the economy of The Court Administration. (...)
I am very happy that the systematic work for that the royal cultural heritage should be secured for future generations and at the same time reserved for current monarch now has in principle been completed, among other things through permutations and foundation formations. Also heads of state gifts and others gifts such as H.M. The King and the Crown Princess received due to their offices and used in state ceremonial contexts are included in this work. (...)

About the work of the Royal Family
The King's constitutional, state ceremonial and official tasks form the core of the Court Administration's operations and are prioritized in programming. In adapted and infection-proof forms, the King opened the Riksdag, led the Advisory Councils for Foreign Affairs and the Councils of State. No state visits or official trips abroad could, however, be carried out. Other program activities were largely a result of the King's and The Royal Family's own initiatives to stay informed on current societal issues, as well as to draw attention and encourage important efforts in society. In 2020, approximately 1,500 inquiries were received. The King and the Royal Family completed 861 program items.
The King initiated recurring video meetings with governors and visits to all counties in Sweden were planned and were started. Only four visits could be made during the year before the spread of infection increased again during the autumn. The remaining 17 county visits will be carried out as soon as possible. The King and the Crown Princess initiated also recurring video meetings with, among others, business representatives, industry representatives, authorities and organizations.
The Queen's program activities include in particular topics related to children's rights as well as elderly care and dementia issues. By adapting meeting forms, the Queen was able to attend digital meetings and program days, organized by, among others, her foundations World Childhood Foundation, Mentor, Care About The Children and Silviahemmet.
The Crown Princess's program focused in particular on environmental monitoring and on maritime issues and sustainability linked to the UN's Global Sustainable Development Goals, for which The Crown Princess is an alumni ambassador. The Crown Princess Couple carried out planned trips and audiences during January-February, but then changed the program activities to mainly digital meeting forms. The Crown Princess Couple especially followed the pandemic's impact on health and healthcare, the cultural sector, Swedish business and children and youth issues, and the Crown Princess wrote a congratulatory letter to all of Sweden's students. The Crown Princess Couple and Prince Daniel conducted self-initiated visits and meetings around the police and other actors efforts to combat crime and social vulnerability.
In addition to joint program items with the Crown Princess, Prince Daniel's program concentrates on issues concerning the health of children and young people, not least through The Crown Princess Couple's initiative Generation Pep, which focuses on children's right to an active and healthy life. Prince Daniel also focuses on issues related to entrepreneurship, through Prince Daniel's Fellowship in collaboration with the Royal Academy of Engineering Sciences.
Prince Carl Philip, who is a reserve officer (major), served due to the covid-19 pandemic at the Headquarters' command center. Princess Sofia, who is also honorary chairman of Sophiahemmet, worked there for a large part of the year to relieve the care staff during the pandemic. Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia are through their foundation engaged in issues of online hatred and dyslexia. The foundation works to be a unifying force to reduce young people's vulnerability on the internet and counteract cyberbullying.
Due to the pandemic, Princess Madeleine was prevented from traveling to Sweden and spent the year in the United States. The princess has continued her deep commitment to the World Childhood Foundation as a board member and jury member for the Childhood Award. The princess announced 2020 winner at a digital prize ceremony.

[...] I am very happy that the systematic work for that the royal cultural heritage should be secured for future generations and at the same time reserved for current monarch now has in principle been completed, among other things through permutations and foundation formations. [...]

What does this mean? What would be the reason that after 200 years of the Bernadotte dynasty, royal cultural heritages were not already secured for future generations of monarchs? Were there heritages which, like the well-known case of the Galliera Foundation, were regulated to follow the male line and therefore needed to have their arrangements changed to follow the senior line? Or were there new laws regulating inheritance or estate taxes which would have mandated the family heritages to be divided between all the King's children, an event which therefore needed to be avoided by entrusting the heritages to new foundations?

Interesting to see that for the present time Princess Madeleine continues to be recognized as a working member of the Royal House by the annual report.

Information about the royal family has been updated at website Sweden.se, which is publicly funded and produced, developed, maintained and operated by the Swedish Institute (SI).

Presentation about the Royal Foundations at court's website, published in December 2020.
A lot of history and information about various foundations.

The Royal Foundations are actually a collective term for about 70 different foundations where the oldest have their roots in the 19th century. Some of the foundations have been formed entirely on the initiative of members of the Royal Family. Others have been added in connection with, for example, a royal anniversary.
The foundations' capital in 2019 amounted to approximately SEK 6 billion. Every year the foundations share around SEK 200 million in grants and scholarships to organizations and individuals, mainly in Sweden.
The money helps to realize good ideas and takes advantage of people's knowledge and interests. No other family-related foundation reaches as many grant recipients with a geographical spread across the country. Support is provided for a wide range of purposes in accordance with the statutes of the foundations and in some cases projects in other countries are also supported.
At several of the foundations you can apply for project grants. The applications are reviewed by experts in their fields and is then dealt with by the board of each foundation.
The Royal Family acts that The Royal Foundations should be able to help so many as possible. The royal commitment helps to increase interest in the areas that receive support.

King Carl Gustaf and crown princess Victoria are among the people Icakuriren's readers can vote as The Most Important Swede of the Year.

At the end of July, we will find out who has been named the Most Important Swede of the Year by Icakuriren's readers. Among the nominees are a number of prominent people who have made a great impression on the Swedish people during a bewildering year to say the least.
Icakuriren's vote has just begun and runs until July 1. This year's Most Important Swede is presented in Icakuriren no. 31, which will be released on July 30.

About the royal family's dialects at the article in 2015

The Stockholm dialect in a class of its own
How then are we to understand the differences between Victoria's and Madeleine's pronunciation patterns? In other words, how can it be that Victoria speaks a standard-close middle-class Stockholm dialect while Madeleine's speech has clear features of upper-class Stockholm dialect? It is easy to link the differences to the sisters' different roles and tasks.
Victoria is heir to the throne and has many official duties. Since childhood, she has been trained in her role as future monarch. In this position, it is important that she enjoys legitimacy, ie that the Swedes do not question her suitability as head of state. Madeleine, on the other hand, has far fewer duties and much less responsibility than Victoria, and is in comparison very little seen in official contexts and in the media. In her more hidden role, Madeleine does not have to appear legitimate in the same way.

Gunilla von Platen, one of the most well-known and successful female entrepreneurs in Sweden, is the new host when TV4 makes its own version of "The apprentice".
Gunilla agreed to the role because she loves entrepreneurship. She is involved in several different engagements where she gives lectures and talks about entrepreneurship, inspires today's young people to want to become entrepreneurs. This program sheds light on entrepreneurship, so it feels incredibly fun to be a part of it. Gunilla will also invest money in the winner's company.
"The apprentice" will be recorded already in September and is scheduled to be broadcast in the early spring of 2022.

And what about prince Carl Philip, prince Daniel and princess Sofia?

The king has seemed not entirely comfortable speaking English, from what I've seen (Princess Christina has spoken it much more fluidly). I wonder if perhaps his dyslexia somehow affected him there in a way it didn't his daughters.

And what about prince Carl Philip, prince Daniel and princess Sofia?

I should think that they, like all Swedes their age, speak English rather well. It's taught from the age of 8.

At the age of fourteen, 7th grade, you get to chose a second foreign language, French, German or Spanish, don't know which they chose though.

Then at high school you can chose a third language. (Or even a fourth if you chose Latin, like I did :))

This is normal Swedish schooling and there's no reason to assume any of them deviated from that.

And what about prince Carl Philip, prince Daniel and princess Sofia?

Daniel speaks english. And some years ago there was a Facebook post where a man met Daniel and Victoria at Haga Park, he wrote that Daniel spoke portuguese with him. Svensk Damtidning wrote at an article in connection with the German state visit that that Daniel understands some German but doesn't speak fluent German.

King Carl Gustaf, queen Silvia and crown princess Victoria attended the funeral of the King's and royal family's close friend Tim Génetay at Lovö church on Ekerö. Tim Génetay's daughter Josephine is one of Victoria's best friends and queen Silvia's goddaughter.
It became an intimate funeral as the corona pandemic limited the number of guests. The funeral service was also broadcast live as Tim Génetay had a very large circle of friends.
The King, queen and Victoria arrived at 14.00 with their aide-de-camps and vicar emeritus Anders Hult began the beautiful ceremony. Musician Karl Dyall sang beautifully and the whole church was moved when two of Tim Génetay's grandchildren performed a song to their beloved grandfather. The vicar spoke very personally about Tim Génetay's generous heart and cheerful attitude, he also touched on the great loyalty that characterized the character of Tim Génetay.
That Tim Génetay has always been so discreet, faithful and loyal are certainly qualities that the King appreciates a little extra. If you are the Head of state, there are many who want to be your friend, but the true friends are few. Now one of these has passed away and the King is in mourning.
After the funeral service, all guests were invited to a reception in Tim Génetay's and his wife Kerstin Génetay's beautiful home Vilan, close to Drottningholm Palace.

Royal Salute at Turku Art Museum, Finland - 1 October 2021 – 9 January 2022
Royal Salute from Sweden! Royal Salute showcases European and Swedish art from the collections of the Swedish Nationalmuseum. Spanning the past 500 years, the exhibition includes paintings, sculptures, ceramics and also photographs of the Royal Family as part of the section on contemporary art.
The exhibition includes several works of art owned by Swedish royalty, such as Lucas Cranach the Elder‘s painting Lucretia, acquired by Gustav Vasa, Italian faience objects belonging to Queen Christina, and Rembrandt paintings owned by Gustav III, later reattributed to the master’s workshop.

Following the announcement by Dutch Prime minister Rutte last week about nothing preventing a Dutch monarch from entering into a same sex marriage, Swedish Marshal of the Realm, Fredrik Wersäll, let it be known today that there are no legal obstacles against the same happening in Sweden.
"The Order of Succession stipulates that a prince or princess, in order to remain in the Line of Succession, must have the government's consent to marry. The Order of Succession is old, but nowadays marriages can be entered into between people of the same sex, says Fredrik Wersäll. He believes that because of this there is nothing to prevent any person in the line of succession from entering into marriage with a person of the same sex and still remain in the Line of Succession as long as the government at the King's request gives its consent."

https://www.aftonbladet.se/kungligt/a/z76wEw/fritt-fram-for-kungliga-samkonade-aktenskap

Although the issue of children didnt come up Sweden will introduce "gender neutral presumption of parentage" (?) from January 1, 2022 meaning that anyone married to someone giving birth will automatically be considered the legal parent. It's a bit tricky, but because of this I don't think that there are any legal obstacles to a child born to a wife of Estelle being included in the Line of Succession. There is at least a need for clarification on the issue.
